I love to claim Piano Motif if possible (Canada).
It’s all relative my friend. For One app It might make sense to get some low cost marketing, by giving out some codes to the right people who you know will spread the word in various online platforms, but on another app from a different developer it might not make sense. I love the code giveaways, I’ve won a couple times, and always watch at least some of a video with one. There’s such a wide range of the types of apps, their function, the quality, but also the companies/developers themselves. a one-man operation making a full blown daw with all the bells and whistles from scratch is way different than a company like Sugar Bytes, or a bigger name porting. So it’s advantageous to some, but not all.
If a developer/small business doesn’t know a ton about sales, marketing, advertising, have the time, or resources this is can be an effective, low cost way, to basically have all the marketing, advertising done for you, and it’s a win/win/win. Developer gets marketing, advertising, content creator gets more views, comments, likes, and someone/several someones win a code. Ultimately if the app is half way decent those few codes will generate more sales. Hiring consultants or expanding and hiring someone with the know how would cost way more.
That said...
This thread has been great, well done. Not only great for the givers, receivers, & developers but for the human spirit. When so many things have been taken away from us over the last 14 months, this thread has literally given away something for free, no strings. Which is increasingly rare these days. It’s a reminder there’s plenty of good people out there, doing good things all the time. Thanks for that.

But that is for a monetary amt, not a specific app. Up to the receiver to be honest about that part.

I try to stay true to my word, at least as much as I can, so just saying my bad on that one.
