I’m taking a stab here but Maybe gifts are different then the developer codes because I assume the developer doesn’t have to pay for each code he wants of his own app. Right? I mean they probably request them or even create them some way through Apple.

Yeah for sure, it costs devs nothing to give codes. > @winconway said:

Let's give it a try - what app are you willing to pledge?

Ha, I think I do enough for the community already bro 😋

Well there goes anymore pledges from me ;)

Haha. I salute anyone doing this. I have been barely scraping a living workwise this past year, not to mention I just spent $6000 dollars of my own money on eye ops, so you'll have to forgive me for not feeling a burning urge to buy apps for anyone 😅😜

If you were familiar enough with your MIDI controller you could have just played it by touch and saved your money for something better like more apps or iPads🤷🏻‍♂️ instead of wasteful eye surgeries that ultimately only benefit doctors and their associates😜.

Buddy just keep the videos coming. What you do is really valuable, I don't have the patience to do what you do so I gave an app as a gift which is the best I can for this community. Thanks to you I have been able to understand apps without reading a manual. I am that lazy

Sorry Oscar maybe you are trying to be funny. I was going blind, there was nothing wasteful about this surgery. It wasn't because I didn't want to wear glasses or for some vanity reason. I had complicated cataracts. I was suffering an appalling quality of life for several months until I finally got my operation. I just didn't shout it all over the place.

  • What we all really want to know, @Gavinski, is if the procedure was effective.

I sounds like quite a serious issue, and I for one have been quite concerned for you.

Thnx Scott, it has definitely been pretty effective but I have side effects with things like starbursts, haloes around lights at night etc that for most people would have disappeared by now. I will only know after a few months whether I will be stuck with those things - which can affect night driving ability - for life or not. Fingers crossed.

  • @tk32 the second "Bud" is gone!
I will pledge more in near future, be sure!

I can't imagine anyone that contributed more to developer success than you with your timely video demos of new apps. We all benefit from that effort to showcase new products
and re-visit some classics for extra attention.

Well, if limiting your iPad/iPhone exposure will help with your recovery, please seriously consider making an announcement expressing your situation. I’m certain far from alone in wanting you to make a complete and full recovery.

Doug at The Sound Test Room has had numerous cases where his medical situation put him in a bind and his YouTube subscribers and forum members here helped support him through some difficult and trying times.

Please don’t jeopardize your future health for immediate gain. We’ll be there for you if you need us.

  • Thanks guys, I think I'll be fine, just that jokes about me needing to support ppl by buying them apps are likely to rub me quite severely up the wrong way at the moment so let's avoid those please 😁

  • Wishing you the best, @Gavrinski. You gotta be there to fully appreciate what it does to your thoughts and feelings.

Yeah Mike, there are a lot of flavours of cataract, so to speak. Some people have types that develop slowly over years with minimal impact on vision. I went from mild short-sightedness to needing a magnifying glass to do my Korg Module video in the space of a couple of months. Not a nice experience, never mind dealing with the anxiety of why on earth I got cataracts in my mid 40s....

  • @tk32 OK, since Australia was mentioned in the Store explanation I guess there should be at least one pledge from here.

    I'll pledge 2 x @brambos apps for the Australian store. 🐨

Claimer's choice. They're all great apps.

    Cheers @arktek - I'm adding your pledges...

Now we just need to find a couple more antipodeans to claim these.

Just a quick update to say....

    40 apps

    have now been successfully gifted

(with 15 more still to be claimed)

    That is absolutely fantastic!

Yes, people have real problems so not everybody is in a situation to be able to gift an app. Many people would not feel comfortable sharing their circumstances on an Internet forum either. Even if they could afford to gift an app, I don’t believe they should feel obligated to do so if they don’t want to. I had hoped the emoticons along with the ridiculous suggestions I made would have more clearly indicated it was an attempt at humor. I hope your recovery goes well.

I thought it probably was but the last line threw me off a bit and made me think u just thought I was getting laser surgery or something cos I didn't want to wear glasses. Let's just call it lost in translation and forget about it 👍 and indeed, I'm not that comfortable talking about it on a public forum
