Pianoteq iOS is on the way?
This is not a drill. According to a tweet from modartt, they’re working on an iOS version.

Super exciting news! Pretty soon we’ll have a full band in our iPads less 250mb. 🙏🏽
Great news!
That’s pretty cool. The problem is, I would no longer want to hook up small keyboards for simple melodies, and will have to start using the MIDI OUT on my piano
I'd love to have a smaller option for realistic pianos on my iPhone. I hope it's universal if it comes out. I won't really need it for the iPad unless it's universal and could relieve the pressure on the phone storage.
I didn't know Pianoteq... But with the mention of small sizes, I imagined it was physical modeling. Just listened to some demos
Amazing stuff
That is piano shattering news. Shiver me timbres!
Yup, I read physical modeling and 50mb!
LOL
It’s undergone gradual improvements over time to more accurately model the idiosyncrasies of a real piano. The most recent desktop version is fantastic, and really plays like the real thing (assuming you’re playing a keyboard with graded hammer action).
At one time giant sample libraries probably did a better job, but Pianoteq has really got close to the real thing now.
[applause]
This is amazing news.
awesome
I wonder what their pricing will be like. If they price it following the ios norms, they may see a lot of their desktop customers migrate over. If they price it similar to their deskstop version, I wonder if enough people would buy in to be worth their efforts. On top of that, they like to charge a good bit every year for updates that other developers offer for free (saluting Beepstreet here). hmmm...
😂
Hmm we will see, the way Modartt works I wouldn't be suprised if you buy a "one for all license". But this is great news, but of course we knew that the second they optimized it for M1 Macs, since it's pretty much the same from there on. I wouldn't expect it to run on old iPad though, Pianoteq has quite the processor hunger.
Older versions used to run in very old hardware , an iphone 5s , Air1 would be capable
Curious about the pricing , hopefully it's on common iOS range
Awesome news!
(I'm fed up with giganormous 'sample libraries' for single instruments).
What kind of modeled parameters are available in pianoteq? I’m really liking the kind of automation you can get from parameters like ‘harmonics’, ‘bow position’ and ‘pressure’ in Audio Modeling’s Violin, Cello and strings apps. Takes these modeled instruments to places samples could never begin to approach. That’s what excites me about the prospect of an IOS Pianoteq.
Touché
They got a lot of modeled goodies. Hopefully the Hohner collection gets ported...
Awesome news !
I am longing for that...
After Audio Modeling, now Modartt is coming to iOS 😭🙏
Apple’s new M1 architecture is certainly for something in that move.
Pianoteq was my gigging piano app on MacBook for years. Amazing news.
My guess is around $75. You can download a free demo of Pianoteq for desktop and get the idea. It's very good, especially for those who like to get under the hood. A lot of folks think it stinks, btw. Too mechanical and unrealistic. I’ll want it, but still switch around with Ravenscroft and Module American D.
I use it for my piano practice. It has a very disctinct sound that some people don't like, but it plays fantastic. Even for me as a beginner it's noticable how much better it is compared to my sampled libraries.
But as I said, there is a distinct harshness not the sound in the treble notes and if you turn that down it can start to sound muddy.
This was my favorite when I was using desktop.....good news
That‘s pretty great to get hyped up:
Hurray!
I have it on desktop and it’s amazing. Many different piano varieties including historical versions, etc. I’d say it’s superior to samples. For one thing the dynamic range is far richer and detailed than is practical with samples.
Wonderful news - here is an overview of the latest (full desktop) version which shows how versatile it could be.
