Cool. Where exactly is the Midi Out setting...I don't see it in Settings....thanks @AntoninCharvat

No setup is needed. Currently the Midi outputs of all channels are always sending the events. If there should be any requirement from the users to have an option to disable it, I'm ready to add this to the Settings page :)
The only exception right now is during the active MIDI connection to the Audiobus session - in that case the Core MIDI output is disabled. This behavior is defined by the Audiobus documentation to avoid double sending.

Can I ask, and I really don't want this to sound snarky at all, but is this an app that basically randomly generates songs? Like the drums, the bass, the melody, etc? Is it as simple as that?

Yes, that's exactly what it is :)

Hrmmm...so no specific Midi Channel Number assignment then since they are virtual channels?

Also do you know why I see all of these AudioKit Output Channels alongside Beatly Virtual channels in the available list in AUM?

fwiw, you might want to revisit the implementation of Midi Out so it works with external gear as well. Right now, all the Midi was firing on a single channel of my Circuit Rhythm, even though it has 8 Midi Channels to receive data on...and it was triggering different Sample Pads on Channel 1 for all the instruments sending out Midi from Beatly Pro.

No AudioKit Outputs on my setup.. May need a reboot..

Thanks for the update.. very nice..

Do you mean like assigning custom midi channel to each Beatly instrument? Sorry for stupid question, I'm pretty new to this entire MIDI ecosystem.

I'm not sure. I'm using Audiokit for my implementation of MIDI output and these ports seem to be added automatically by the SDK. Let me see if there's a way to hide them.

I'll look into this issue. I have no idea why it's firing on a single channel. Thanks for letting me know.

  • Hey everyone,

I have hopefully improved the MIDI OUT implementation so that now each instrument is sending on different channel. This is already available on Test Flight beta. If there's someone who wants to try it (maybe @echoopera?), feel free to send me your Apple ID to the PM and you're in. Thank you!

  • Hey all,

another update (1.14) of Beatly Pro is out!

    • improved and redesigned mixer - now you can add or remove any instrument into your setup + you can arrange them as you like
    • MIDI OUT has been revisited - now each instrument is sending on different channel
    • many small annoying bugs squished
    • minor UI improvements

    Have fun!

  • This app is so friggin cool. It is going to be a huge help as I start getting into chiptune and music for indie video game devs.

Great to hear that! I hope Beatly will be a great kickoff for your tunes!

  • It’s really coming along quite nicely, really digging the updates lately

    Thanks for your constant support!

Here is a new thing I'm currently working on... and it's something... different :)

    This is fantastic! Very excited.

  • @AntoninCharvat is there any way to copy/paste a bar?

Not yet, but I have this feature in my TODO list. Maybe I will get to it in the next release...

Between that and the cinematic style, I’m so stoked!

  • Apologies if I’ve missed this already. Can we export the audio as a loop so that it will be ready to use without editing? I exported the audio and found empty space at the start and end. Thanks.

  • Ooh the cinematic style sounds awesome. I’m loving seeing a few different specialty styles come up. The chiptune one has been a blast

  • Ready for “2010s Top 40 Pop Style” lol

  • @jolico thank you 🌟

  • Just found this and I love it. Really great session. Thanks!

  • @AntoninCharvat is there a backup option, similar to how Pure Acid lets you export a backup of al of your projects? It would be a great option as I have generated a significant number of loops that I want to modify before I export the audio, and I’m always paranoid that an update might wipe stuff.

  • @AntoninCharvat really digging the cinematic “preset” so many of the creations sound good, well done. Thanks.

  • Woah this thing is Rad Beans! Had no idea…

Did the update hit where you are or are you beta testing?

I'm afraid that's not possible right now. I don't even have something like that in my TODO list. You can export your projects one by one and then import them again, but that would be time consuming activity. I will consider to add this for sure. However I'm always trying to avoid any breaking changes in track models, so this should really not happen, unless I screw something really bad

Cinematic style is still work in progress only on Test Flight.

With the upcoming cinematic style you can create even sort of Christmas music! (if you don't have enough already from all directions lol)
