If the rate is exposed you can cc it… I haven’t checked on that yet..
Sweet
This is a weird one, because a couple people said they had issues but others said they didn’t. I’ve never analyzed it with a midi monitor but I’ve never noticed any drifting issues either so I’m not sure what the issue is here… or if there even is one? maybe specific devices, or an older OS, etc. not sure. I just know I’ve never noticed anything in terms of the midi timing. Plus you can always record the midi into atom, atom 2, helium, X2, Photon…
It’s not really a drift but rather the Bud apps are consistently behind the beat by, up to, a frame. It’s more noticeable with large frame sizes. Here’s a screenshot of a simple Mozaic script that logs the delta time from the beginning of the beat for note-on events for StepBud(1), Atom2 (2), Drambo (3) and Cells (4). They’re all playing whole notes at 60 bpm. StepBud is consistently 21ms behind the other three. 1 / ( 48000 / 1024 ) = 0.021333 or, in English, the duration of a single 1024 sample frame at 48,000Hz is just slightly over 21 milliseconds.
This isn’t really a problem if the *Bud apps are the only sequencers in use but can cause problems if you try to combine midi from other apps or use the *Bud midi to control other apps.
Interested to know this, also.
Hoot of a thing ... very flexible, logical and intuitive ... looking forward to a bit of fine tuning re more time signatures as others have mentioned but after 20minutes I'm hooked ... really cuts up an orchestra.
Yeh, there is a high fun / effectiveness factor with this gem.
I'll work on this issue.
@cem_olcay will snake be included in the bundle?
@cem_olcay discovered a bug, when copying and pasting from one preset to another, the probabilty in the pasted one is always 100% and not copied from the first preset.
Oh yeah, thanks, fixed it!
I think I'll release a new bundle at the end of the year with my upcoming apps. Planning to release at least 2 more apps in this year.
thank you! it’s a fantastic sequencer otherwise
Thing is I want snake bud but also step bud and the others look useful. So not too sure what the best plan is, buy just those two as end of year is a long way off.
If I have Sbud on midi out 1 and nave running. All standalone. What would I set Nave to? I had it as Sbud in and out on channel 1 but no life could be detected.
This works for me:
Thanks @anickt
I think the Virtual midi was the only thing I didn't think of.
I don’t want to sound harsh but personally would like to see a more interesting UI. I like Cem’s apps but miss a bit of eye candy. Some visual attractive knobs would be welcome 😉
I’m fine with the UI. I like straightforward. 😉
What would be cool IMHO is the ability to change patterns within the app like in @brambos apps and some of the drum apps like DrumLab. Assign pattern 1 for instance to play 3 times and then switch to pattern 2 which plays 4 times etc. instead of having to set up a second device to change patterns which can be problematic in certain circumstances. @cem_olcay
The new update with additional randomizations is sweet. Overall, a very fun app!
I agree with this. Would be far far far more convenient.
I understand this as maybe wanting to get people to buy and use stepbud to do this. But I think that people would use all the apps more if it had this function built in, and it would actually lead to more user satisfaction and more sales overall
Buy/Share/Recommend my apps, so I'd afford to hire a graphical designer & make prettier apps for you
BTW, the new version is released today with more randomisation options.
I'm currently uploading another version with more snake patterns, I've added 32 patterns more, so you'll have 56 snake patterns in total instead of 24!
And the next update will be dotted/triplet rates in a few days.
The pretty ones will only break your heart… 😭💔
Will do Cem 😇
@xor thanks for diving into that.
Update is out with a bunch of new snake patterns
I noticed the problem but @blueveek did the heavy diagnostic lifting. I’m just the bulldog at this point. Fingers crossed that it’ll get fixed.
Sorry to keep bringing it up but is swing on the cards at all? I adore the app but the lack of swing means I can’t use it half as much as I would like.
Will someone please think of the groove! 🥸
You can use Cality for adding swing.
I prefer them the way they are.
With any UI, you're never going to be able to please everyone. As far as I'm concerned, as long as you never force me into rotary knobs, you're A-OK with me. 👍🏼
I know it breaks a little from the concept of the app, but just a thought of something I think would be insanely good...
If each step had an additional "Direction" knob that could be Snake, Up, Down, Left, Right, or Random, it'd be really cool. Snake would follow the current snake pattern. The rest would override the snake pattern when that step is hit.
This thing is super fun as it is, so no complaints here. Just a thought.
NICE! Thank you!!
Sorry posted in wrong thread.
@cem_olcay
Could you please add a direction option for snake? Forwards, backwards and forwards/backwards. That they you would effectively add x3 more snakes (3x54 = 162!) and it could allow for some really good poly stuff with two or three instances running.
