  • Extra time 😬

  • I was going to say something but It's hard to type when you've chewed your fingernails down to the knuckles.

  • Extra time for covid. What more can I say.....I shut my mouth.

  • Quite exciting. I'd recommend tuning in!
And for those who don't understand soccer, the rules are simple, although there's a twist since this "neutral site" game is somehow able to be played in England's greatest stadium. In this game, any player adjudged to have encroached on Harry Kane's personal space — provided Mr. Kane has dribbled himself into a corner and decided to throw himself to the ground in a despondent heap — shall have committed a foul.

  • I live in England but have two kids with an Italian. Pretty much little Italy in the house.
She’s rooting for Denmark and I am for England but when the final comes Italy all the way even if it’s going to be tough playing at Wembley with all the crowd against them.

  • Well played Denmark, but now it’s time for the Italian Job…..

  • Hanging over a cliff trying to reach the gold? 🤣

  • Great game! I haven’t been able to watch any others in the tournament, but a gig was cancelled today due to heat so we watched with our neighbors. Should be a great final.

  • Congrats, England!

  • Congratas England.
The streets of Copenhagen is definitely more quite tonight.

If my memory serves me right, most of England (except Wessex) used to be run by the Viking Danes.

You must be about 1100 years old then 😂

Sometimes I feel that old, particularly so this morning, nursing my victory hangover 😂

Originally, I wanted England to win.

But after reading that the danish goalkeeper was targeted by a laser pointer, I now wish Italy the best!

    Because of 1 idiot?

Edit. I do agree it’s a horrible thing that person did.

It is horrible, no doubt about it, but if the game was played in Denmark there would probably be someone who would do the same to Pickford. Anyway, England was the team who wanted to win, Denmark was waiting for the penalties so I'm not sorry England went through. I'm hoping for a great game on Sunday :)

  • England looked great, but it’s kind of a shame to have won on an own goal and a very soft penalty. I’m not sure karma exists, but it would be against the fan base and not this pretty honorable team of players.

I do fear that the entire world will be rooting against England, though.

  • Shame how they won with a dubious penalty and then that idiot shining a lazer in the keepers eyes. Still better than a minority of fans wrecking towns like in other competitions. Thats been one good thing, the thugs and hooligans staying away.

England played really well though, best i have seen them in as long as i can remember and i like how Southgate manages the team, his letter was a well needed touch of class.

    Yes, of course.

That may have changed the result!
And it is not only not sportsmen-like, but plain criminal!

It's not the fault of the team, of course - but it is the fault of England!

To blame a whole nation for the actions of a few brainless idiots is a bit much, as for the outcome, he did save the initial penalty. The person responsible should face the full weight of the law. As to those booing they should be ashamed of themselves, as those also booing England for taking the knee.

Dunno about that. Italy will be slight favourites, so we get to bask in the plucky underdog role etc.

Ah, the plucky underdog ranked No. 4 in the world and playing the final in its home stadium! :)

UPON REFLECTION: I see that you are right, at least from a Brit expat point of view. Sports is all about the stories we tell ourselves. I'm judging the mood from my Twitter feed of American soccer fanatics.

    So, no.

And for me, the game should have been stopped at this moment too.

Otherwise, we will get more and more people trying such things!

And the ONLY way to prevent this, is to make the team pay for it, let the whole country pay for it.
    It will not stop otherwise!

Think a bit about this, and you will see my point.

Poor behavior from the fans has unfortunately been going on for years, and despite action taken against it, it still occurs.

Punishing the team for the action of the supporters is not guaranteed to stop the behavior, and stopping a game because of the action of supporters usually doesn’t have any positive effect. Usually it leads to anger from the supporters, and subsequent worse behavior.

I don’t know what the solution is, but draconian measures are probably not the answer.

UEFA have said they will take action on this, but haven’t said what that will be.

Am I the only one who thought the penalty was fair? The first defender made contact with his knee, and the second one body-checked him. I can’t see how Sterling could have stayed on his feet after that.

Neither defender got anywhere near the ball.

  • Yeah seen at that angle, can't really argue with the judgement.
Shame about the laser pen thing. Football fans continually disappoint me enough to put me off the whole sport.

I think it was a fair decision as it likely affected his ability to score. The fact that the defender made contact with his knee after the ball had passed him is probably why the referee gave it.
