This made me chuckle.
I am the person Drambo was not made for. But even axolotl’s can dream of flying.
Yep, you’re right. There was morph module that isn’t present in the AppStore version. 🙄
I’ve just uploaded a morph free version so it should work now. Sorry!
@LinearLineman
You can fly if you so wish.
Get dRambo, download stuff from
patch storage and when you get stuck
give one of us a holla.
I’m going to see if I can clone @Simon
apparently he wants an improvement.
👏👏
Quoting myself^^
What I meant to say was “here’s a little jam that I threw together in only a few minutes” but I don’t think anyone noticed my post anyway.. so whatever…
"Cha", as my Jamaican bredren's would say.
Someone did notice, the only thing is they were in dRambo land themselves.
It's a nice mellow jam and shows the
capability of dRambo as a quick writing tool.
Very cool.
How did you get it together so fast? Did you play the parts into Atom?
A few of the video posts in this thread haven’t been replied to. It’s ok though, right? Our egos can take it, can’t they?
Many thanks for the replies! My takeaway so far is that Drambo is the ultimate erector set for sound on iOS.
Different questions...
and
Thanks!
Joe
In regards to the quality of the sound?
dRambo is a different beast.
Moog Model 15 and similar are dedicated emulations of real world synths
or trying to.
The beauty of dRambo is that it can get similar sounds
to other sounds and one can create ones own synth as a I do.
Basically the sound quality is on par.
In regards to sequencers?
Communicating with other sequencers and hardware is all there.
Ableton Link
Midi clock send and receive
Sync to host
I don't view sequencers as which one is the best.
That's an entirely subjective opinion and
depends upon the way one thinks.
Is dRambo intuitive to use? yes it is especially if you are used
to using XOX sequencers and many of the modular people
are familiar with this way of sequencing,
dRambo is a modular environment after all,
and others are more used to using a piano roll.
Thanks!
On the parts that have Atom I did, other parts are played into Drambo’s sequencer.
Sure, I just move on to the next piece. I’m a pro at it! 🤣
But for this thread I’d hate for a perfectly good example to be overlooked, when tomorrow there will be posts about how Drambo is this, and Drambo isn’t that, and nobody ever posts any music made with Drambo.
Hey, gotta say, i guess my head was so far up my own ass that I totally missed this. I’m sorry!
This is freaking amazing! (I downloaded the patch) and another perfect example!
Drambo is for me.
It might not be for you.
…
…it’s probably for you.
I'm pretty sure if I made drambo merch, i'd get rich off all of you
Do it Do it Do it!!!
The Drambo logo is beautiful. I wouldn’t mind having it stamped on a t-shirt or a mug, even if it means nothing to anybody else.
Id start with akai live/one, octatrack, and op-1 skin.
Might make these devices acceptable.
Shoot, I’d buy a Drambo coffee mug in a heartbeat!
If you were really a true believer, really sold on Drambo you'd get a Drambo tattoo... come on now, who's going to be the first?
I'm pretty sure someone here already has one.
Sound quality:
It’s as good as any other iOS synth app. Using subtle modulation and distortion can bring it closer to something like Model 15 where the character is baked in.
I enjoy the Drambo sequencer and find it easier than a piano roll for editing.
I think the power of Drambo is that it really can do a lot of stuff. The only exception is working with audio in general (the sampler is fine and can do a lot, but there are still gaps) and there's no traditional linear sequencer with timeline. In other words - it's amazing groovebox to which you can connect any modular chain or any plugin.
Actually, to me Drambo was not interesting until it got AU hosting support, after that it became my #1 app since I've got the best from both worlds: endless modules repository to achieve "anything", but requiring some effort of building "Lego" and plugins that are immediately ready to use and can provide a specific sound of feature that would be tough to bake in modular environment.
I used AUM too and trying to make a more complex setup for live performance was really not possible for me, also writing a longer songs than just a loop was a pain for me. Drambo unlocked all the limitations that I felt in AUM. If you don't feel limitations, you may be OK with AUM.
Comparing AUM to Drambo, AUM is like a really solid and beautiful hunting knife, while Drambo is a Swiss army knife, with a motorised chainsaw function and foldable to an emergency helicopter. With lasers.
Quite a different beasts...
You da man!
Where is Drambo in they performance?. What is it doing?. Are you maybe controlling Drambo with the Novation whatever?. Would love to know. 🙌
Thanks!
All the sounds you hear apart from Samplr’s come from Drambo. I use Novation Circuit Tracks as a midi controller alongside launch control XL.
There’s no sound coming from Circuit Tracks but you can hear a bit of Turnado on the Samplr.
It sounds amazing. I can't wait to try it! The "no morph" version still does not open for me.
Also, great track. I like how you used some kind of delay/shimmer to turn Samplr's repeating percussive sound into an echoing strings sound.
I bought samplr (it’s on sale) after seeing this video. What an amazing app it is. Sometimes less is more, and I love that it’s designed for the touch interface as opposed to calling for external controls. That’s something you can’t do with drambo, but as this video shows they can be seamlessly integrated. Fantastic.
@dvi @Skyblazer
Thanks!
Stopping and thinking about it for once I’m realising that I’m basically using each software and hardware element to their strength. The software I use is all super cpu efficient and generally safe.
Samplr: an excellent screen interaction instrument, always in the foreground
Drambo: a sound design playground and sequencer
Turnado: an effect mangling powerhouse
Novation Circuit: scales input surface, multitrack controller
Bop Pad: a percussion controller
Loopy: audio looping
Launch control XL: bang for the buck faders and knobs galore.
All of the elements have passed stringent vetting and elimination procedures over the past 10 years and they’re all certified indispensable

Here's a patch from @rs2000

The commenter had this to say in appreciation.
"This isn’t just like Continua, it’s WAY BETTER!
My search for a proper wavetable synth is over! "
