  • Anyone using this on an Air 1? I’m curious as how it runs on that cos that’s all I have for an iPad. Or @Michael, do you know how well it’ll run on older devices?

Here’s a proof of concept of LK within Loopy Pro @tahiche

(Please excuse my shitty playing! And distorted audio!!)

    The main limitations:

    1. You can’t filter midi sources to different midi channels, so I could only use LK to control one thing. This is now on @Michael ’s list I think.

    2. You can’t control one midi source with another midi source, so I had to use the pads in LK rather than using the Launchpad pro.

Other than that, we have the ultimate midi & audio looper. This is obviously a super simple example. Loopy Pro is deeeeeeep so there’s so many possibilities from here.

@Michael Hopefully watching me fumble around is useful for the beta 😉

Looks good!. I’m looking forward to try out this combo. So far I’m trying out in my head, haven’t encountered any issues 😬. I hope the issues like midi filtering (which I can’t quite grasp from reading it) get resolved. Cheers!

  • One short video after 370 comments. Come on guys this is gonna get old real fast. We are all excited ok.

Is there a way to open effect chains (directly from the main screen) with the guis of the plug-in, like when you create them? it’s crazy, when you open proQ3 with all those parameters as faders… graphical Uis make sense sometimes ;-)

    Yeah that’s coming shortly 😄

is there a way to take Instruments from CPU/turning them off? Even from the mainscreen?

Is it possible to mute inputs from the mainscreen? This is so important when you deal with multiple Instruments… Muting from the settings window crackles, as it turns off the input completely. A mute would be enough.

    This is coming too

The FX line up along the bottom so you can easily launch into them:

No, the effect chains open without the FX GUIs, which is as I said very complicated when having a proQ3 in the chain. Or can I activate the GUI view which I have when creating the chains?

Not sure what you are asking. You mean like this?

You can easily save chains, copy them and edit, retrieve and apply to another color group etc.

I'm talking about workflow. When I open the effect chain from the bottom of the main window ALL controls in the chain are shown, not the GUIs. Much too much values... I have to scroll through pages of values
Yes I can get the GUIs with entering that Chain edit window, but that is completely off workflow.
The EQ I'm using shows more than 30, probably 60 values, so a GUI makes much more sense. For me all is about how can I control Loopy with as few clicks as possible, so when I want so change a patameter in the effects chain ai want to open it (the visual arrangement of the effects) with one click (as it is now possible to view all paramteres in the chain with one click). In a live sitiation I play multiple instruments and complex things are happening, so all I want is fast control over effects. Yes, of course I can take the paramters which I want to control live directly on the main surface, but that makes no sense with an EQ. There should just be a button for Chain arrangement with GUIs as it is possible with single effects.

    Yeah I’m working on that.

The only thing I want in an ipad auv3 looper is an option to match global bpm to my first loop scene.

Yeah you can do that using Link to sync from the AU to the host.

No idea about the Air 1.

  • Yep temporarily using it on an IPad Air, initially had a few random crashes but now it seems really solid, really pleased with loopy pro

How did you prevent the drum beat from also being recorded in that first loop, out of interest?

You can tell the donuts to only listen to one sound source. So I had the bass donut set to only listen to model d, and the chords donut only listened to Flowtones.

I guess this would be a bit different if I was using microphones as sound sources.

Soon! It's not obstreperousness on my account; I'm almost overwhelmed already, and spending probably way too much time interacting with people and not enough time actually fixing bugs. I probably made the first group too large already, on reflection.

👏 🎖️👍. The best way to do it, absolutely. I have just played through the Brandenburg concertos solos the same way, also no issues. Pretty amazing, considering I haven't even had coffee yet. Who knew Touchscaper could do so much!

Ah, that's good to know. I've been asking Michael about the ability to mute sound sources. That's on the roadmap but becomes a non-issue in most scenarios if you can choose exactly what you want to be recorded on each loop colour. Cheers.

Thanks for the new word of the day, @Michael! "noisy and difficult to control" very accurately defines most of my musical experiments!

  • I am guessing that the actual release date will now be after Christmas? This needs to happen unless I’m wrong. The testers are testing - and finding many bugs. Surely it will take a good while to sort them @michael - you probably wouldn’t want to release with a lot of unresolved bugs?
Not that it’s really any of my business how it gets planned out, but my vote is that everyone chills and looks forward to a first quarter release for next year. No stress, happy days, good family time for you, Merry Christmas to everyone and a great app to look forward to in the New Year for the people 😎.

Much midnight oil burning and a tentative plan for a nov 26 release. Lots of bug reports is always to be expected; most are fixed in minutes though.

I reckon I could definitely do it if I didn’t have to give up every second day parenting 😄 I’m still going to try for it though.

Really interesting also as AUV3. Still experimenting each feature to understand the philosophy behind the app. It’s powerful, lot of potential :) Chasing bugs for a report now ;)

No, but children have been born since I started working on Loopy Pro that now can... 😆

Loopy has extensive MIDI control inside the AU. In the AU, you map MIDI to actions. There are a ton of them. You would handle your MIDI control by setting things up inside the AU. At least at this time, there aren't internal AU params exposed.

That says a lot coming from you, someone whom I know is very sophisticated in the looping game!

Do you see this as potentially making some of the complex footswitch action scripts you use no longer needed?
