It doesn't sound too bad. :-) Big question would be, does it offer anything compelling that Jamup Pro or Ampkit (with all the add-ons) doesn't add?

    Yes, more stuff!

Haha, kidding - it's a fair question if it duplicates stuff we already have, even if it's a variation on a different type of overdrive/distortion, etc. But looking at Doug's comments and hearing the 6 minute demo video, I do think there are some new effects (notably the pitch shifting and modulation) stuff that either isn't done by JamUp or AmpKit, or done differently.

Admittedly, though, I'm not a big "EFFECTS effects" whore - I like a ton of dirtbox/gain options and some basic delay/chorus/compression. The amp models and cabs that those effects get fed into is what appeals to me. In other words, I would (and have) repurchase another "AC30" or "Plexi" sound if I thought it did it better or interestingly from what I already have.

  • I think the splitter might be quite a big deal to some guitarists. A lot of the major hardware guitar FX modellers (Line6 et al) make a big deal out of running parallel amps and effects. I don't think any of the iOS guitar FX apps do that as yet (though correct me if I'm wrong)

  • Yeah, I would purchase something that is better than what I currently have, but I'm not so sure that this product is better. I'll need to wait for more information to see. :-)

  • Finally decent multi effects on the iPad with full midi control? I love Magellan synth! Will buy it!!

Sonoma Wire Works' app "GuitarTone" allows for amp/cab splitting, but the app is pretty weak otherwise. I've been really looking forward to a good iOS amp/FX modeler app that does ABY so this is really exciting to me!!

Thanks for all the info and the demo Doug!

Concerning guitar, the sound quality depends a lot on the player.very good tube guitar amps sound really great in the right hands or really bad in the wrong hands.i'd like to hear audio demo of this app done by a good guitar player.sure.none disrespect on doug.thanks for his devotion on demoing all these apps.cheers.

I agree entirely, my guitar skills leave a lot to be desired, I'm sure fairly soon there will ve lots of demos by proper guitarists, and in that demo no amos or cabs were used, only direct effects. I will do another with keys

  • From what I've heard here, this does not sound any better than the other iOS amps/effects. I have almost all of them and they all have their pluses and minuses. The differentiating factor is features but when it comes to SOUNDS, they are all on a par; trying to be real thing but not quite there. They do have value for money though.

True stereo signal path/processing. Think it will be pretty tough for yonac to start competing out of the gate with people with years of history doing amp/speaker modeling (like positive grid and IK) but none of them are offering stereo processing right now. For synths and drum machines and stereo acoustic guitar recordings... this will be a fairly big differentiator. It is for me anyway.

A killer feature would be if it allowed multiple inputs and outputs (like DAW apps) so that you stick it in multiple FX slots and use the app as a multi-effects processor.

  • On the other hand, Yonac nailed the classic tone wheel organ with Leslie sound very closely out of the gate with Galileo. It's a tough tone to come by. I have high hopes for ToneStack.
