@tja if you tag and attribute something to someone, it seems good form to be complete and give that person's quote. This is what is replied to your post in another thread: "This looks like a Loopy Pro issue, from your description and videos it's very likely it's stopping to call the MIDI Tape Recorder audio callback block."
@tja: try setting a tempo . I didn’t have a chance to watch your video. Many apps need the host bpm to be set in order to run. Loopy usually derives tempo from your first loop and so doesn’t have a default tempo. Try entering one.
Don’t feel bad, it took me a hot minute to wrap my head around this as well! (Now if I could just get my head around some other things in LP, like when loops just start playing all by themselves right in the middle of something, without me tapping them! I’m sure it’s a setting I’ve changed somewhere deep in the menus, maybe on a color, or maybe somewhere else. Thank god the manual is starting to arrive!)
If a loop starts playing by itself it would be because if something you set up. A follow action or midi mapping or assigning something to a group or something. Or if something was added on the sequencer page and forgotten about.
If you turn on LP’s “Play in background “ setting that won’t happen. When play in background is off, loopy puts things “to sleep” when it goes to the background and there seem to be some glitches with interface redraws when it comes back into the foreground. Turning the option on will increase battery consumption if LP is in the background for a long time.
Is there anyway to adjust the volume when previewing loops from already imported media? Right now it’s blistering loud!!! I lowered the master channel mixer level - but for previewing media/loops it seemed only the system volume on iPad would lower volume..
Where are you previewing the already imported media from?
I swipe up on a donut, hit import button in top right, which brings up the Media browser that shows all my imported loops (below Document picker & music library).
I think the mixer would only apply to tracks and inputs. I think adjusting your system volume is probably the only way to do it (same would be true if playing back from the Files Quicklook)
Anyone using the Akai APC 40 MK2 with Loopy Pro and care to report of its integration?
So is there any reason to keep AUM these days? Is there anything AUM can do that LoopyPro can’t?
For one, AUM can handle IAA; multi-output AUs, sidechain. The u.i. for complex MIDI routing is more compact in AUM.
A pretty extensive and friendly midi to AU parameter mapping.
As great as Loopy Pro is, and it is really really great. AUM is a stable mature host with few rough edges.
AUM is currently better at doing many things than Loopy Pro. You can't expect an app less than a month old to have the stability, solid routing, and other things as something that's been around and proven itself to the extent that AUM has.
Many things are more intuitive in AUM too. Also, currently Loopy doesn't support IAA. AUM does.
Odd question if you ask me. Is there any reason to get rid of the Lamborghini if the Ferrari can do all the same things?
✌🏼
AUM and Loopy Pro serve totally different workflows, which is why they are both great. Apples and Oranges really.
Finally felt well enough to take a dive into this and learn the basics
Really remarkable app
This is my kind of “dRambo”, since I’ve never been a modular synth guy
Fun times ahead
Congrats on a jaw-droppingly amazing release! This will most probably become my number one iOS app. Looking forward to reverse and pitch effects and also m1 mac support!
And I can’t seem to find 7/4 or 13/8 in time signatures. Would be great if these could be added in the near future @Michael!
Thank you!
7/8 will behave pretty much the same way; all Loopy cares about is the numerator. Ahh you annoying bugger, now I'll have to add 14/8 as well so it's two even rows! 😆 Will you really use 13/8? Really really? If I add it, I want you to record a whole track in 13/8 and publish it for me 😉
Can we get those tempo settings per-track please? 😆
THAT'S IT I QUIT
Make your own damn Loopy Pro
🤣
Have you experienced that long reverb and delay tails are cut off? I have when using dubstation2, Rymdigare, Stratosphere and FAC alteza.
I have emailed the dev about it.
I have my phones connected to the ipad pro18 via usb C dongle.
I’ll try to squeeze it in to my schedule over the next seven years. 😛
Talking about making another Loopy Pro @Michael. I was wondering if you would ever consider making a Loopy Pro ‘Lite’ at some time in the future - which would only have the basic functionality of importing and looping audio with a few more useful select features thrown in? I’m about to purchase Loopy Pro when my trial runs out shortly (and a work of art it truly is) - but I won’t be using many the features - like live looping etc
I’m thinking along the lines that you would sell a real barrowload of them at a smaller price, and it could act as a gateway to the bigger one.
iOS needed a good AU clip launcher up until now, a Lite version would fill that space and be a lot less complex to work with, it would also be a real challenge to any other budget clip launchers out there and so would likely occupy a considerable chunk of that market. There’s maybe a lot of folk that are reluctant to shell out for the big Pro one when they only want to have a bit of fun launching off some clips.
It’s not going to affect me like I say as I’m getting it anyway (though funnily enough I would probably buy a Lite version as well).
Just a curious thought.
Maybe he wants to play around in Loopy Pro with this one:
That's cheating! Most of it's 6/8! And I suspect it's two bars of 6/8 and one of 7/8 anyway 😝
Ha! Which only proves we need time signatures per loop.
… shot yerself in the foot with that one. 😛
