do you have ScaleBud 1 installed? For whatever reason, when I first installed ScaleBud2 it didn't show up on my AU list so when I loaded ScaleBud and thought it was SB2 it was actually SB1. I uninstalled SB1 from my device, manually closed C3, launched SB2 in standalone mode, then relaunched C3 and SB2 appeared in the list.
I don't know why, maybe SB2 is a bit weird in the first few minutes after installation. Besides not showing up in the list of available AU plugins, I also had several crashes in succession after it did load. Still not smooth sail. Maybe it's just as Cubasis guest but I'm not trying with any other hosts.
That’s good to hear. I can not use SB2 if I can’t trust it’s reliability. If it crashes and its state before crash can’t be restored then I won’t use it. Such a shame because from what I witness this is an excellent composition tool.
Yeah I think it’s a bit on both the guest and host, I use a lot of AU plugins in C3 and the vast majority of them don’t have these problems.
Quick play with @cem_olcay ’s lovely new app. Top 4 strings of GeoShred mapped to 4 different KBs in ScaleBud 2. Playing, from top E downwards, Phrygian b2 notes, 13th chords, Phrygian notes and 11th chords. I think this app will open up lots of new possibilities 👍
Sorry @tja, I agree it’s not obvious. Each of the top 4 strings in GS which are channels 2, 3, 4 and 5 are mapped to 4 ScaleBud 2 KBs and output on channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 which are mapped to FlugelHorn, Roli, BeatHawk Bass and BH Organ. ScreenShot makes it clearer (hopefully 😊)
Wow. That's a powerful live playing setup. Does Geohred have a "hold" note feature like a lot of the screen keyboards do (like the one in AUM). It would be nice to touch a chord and then play melodic ideas over the top and not have to hold down the supporting chord tones.
Maybe having a sustain pedal would be a good feature to add to this type of performance rig... the IK Multimedia Blueboard with 4 buttons could be set up to act as a sustain for each of the 4 tracks. Probably need a Mozaic script that has already been written since it's just CC 64, I think... assuming the target apps accept sustain events. If NOT, a script to hold "Note Offs" until the pedal is lifted has also been written.
Great suggestion @McD. I can add a button to the GS control surface that sends CC64. It have it working but not consistently. Will try again in the morning. All the best…
Excellent solution. Please post more of these in videos... I love watching how the "meal is made" and Geoshred is more interesting than watching knobs and such in AUM.
NOTE: It would be nice if you start the video with GeoShred closed so we can see the apps loaded as targets , of course you can add notes on the Youtube page but using the video helps disclose the complete rig without a side trip to the YouTube site.
My beta loaded and showed up in AUM as normal. iOS 15.3
Yea that’s a great function, I played two instruments at once in first test, with 2 rows, each going out on a different midi channel. Pretty dope.
This new ScaleBud has really opened up the "Bud ecosystem" for me. Using it with MelodyBud has been very fertile ground for me today. Looking forward to more experiments.
Just a simple demo
@GeoTony : No GeoShred sounds used ?? Which Beathawk Bass and Organ did you use (from which pack), and we’re are the Roli and Flugelhorn sounds come from? SWAM Flugelhorn ? TNX, wanna try myself 4 fun, after I got the app…
@cem_olcay : Will there be a bundle again, as I have all the buds, but Scalebud2 🧐
@JeePee , it was just a quick knock up so didn’t really think to hard about the sounds but… No GeoShred sounds used as I loaded GS as a Midi controller, SWAM Flugelhorn, ROLI Noise Choir and Strings (Hybrid acoustic pack), BH Fretless Vibrato (Total Bass pack) and BH Foundation 8 (Church Organ pack)
Thanks a lot, a lot of possibilities then, thanks for showing 👍😁
Sounds fantastic Tony 🔥
Thanks @Gavinski , nice to hear from you😊
Yes @CapnWillie , all played through glass. I don’t use anything else. Will try and do some videos.
Custom scale sharing between SnakeBud and MelodyBud is ready! The new SnakeBud update is already live, MelodyBud update is coming to the store in the next few hours. Also the new updates adds around 80 new scales to SnakeBud and MelodyBud, matches them with ScaleBud 2!
Here’s a quick video on custom scale sharing:
Thanks @cem_olcay , these are great updates. Just think if all apps could share in an ecosystem of chords etc.
That sounds great Tony, i’ve checked out your channel but still can’t emulate your Geoshred setup to get one midi channel per string, would be great if you could explain for midiots like me
I’m still dreaming of something that can repitch incoming midi to microtune various instruments. Like oddsound mts-esp for desktop.
100’s of equal tempered scales are easy enough to play on a keyboard. Microtonal scales require an intermediary tuner to repitch each individual note of a given scale.
Hopefully someone will bring something like Oddsound to ios. Would be a godsend.
Sounds like a job for Mozaic, in fact their might be a script for that on Patchstorage…
indeed there are, but incredibly tedious and certainly nothing that will send various tuning messages to dozens of different synths so that they can all be retuned simultaneously (not to mention dynamically, with things like scale morphs in realtime)
We need a tool that can retune anything that receives MTS messages, scala or tun files, pitch bend (suitable for microtuning monosynths), and MPE. A master app that you can point at any tunable synth on ios (and there are a bunch of them now!) is truly needed.
