Is there a way to change the current key using midi notes? In AUM I can only set it up to change one, such as using C0 to change to the key of C. How can I set it up to respond to all 12 notes using the AUM keyboard? Or must I use CCs mapped in Mozaic or something like that?
Here’s the Mozaic script I was thinking of.

There’s also that app Wilsonic, not sure if it helps you though.

I’m not sure how microtonal works. I think synths should adjust their osc frequency for each MIDI note, for example, they should output 447Hz when you play A4 note, instead of 440Hz. So, I’m not sure if there’s a MIDI based solution for this. MIDI pitchbend messages could be useful though. If there’s a database for the microtonal scales and their MIDI pitchbend values then I can add them to ScaleBud. I don’t know otherwise.
this app is crashing for me constantly specially in Loopy Pro. Anyone else having problems?
Meet the new Scale Finder plugin for ScaleBud 2! You can find the scales that include the notes you want and play them instantly in ScaleBud 2!
Scale Finder will be included in ScaleBud 2 as a free update very soon, here's a quick video:
Dope will it be in a beta update as well?
Not to bug ya @cem_olcay but is there any ballpark eta on the Bud CC Sequencer App you teased a little while back? Beta as well? you know I’m always down. Lol. Cheers.
Yep, I’ll release the beta soon!
Yeah, PatternBud is in the development. I was hooked on Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring and Gran Turismo 7 lately and couldn’t work much 😅
The new version with Scale Finder plugin is up!
Did anyone tried the new Scale Finder?
Hi @cem_olcay I just bought scale bud 2 for this scale find feature. I opened it up, played the notes of a c harmonic minor scale and it shows as possible scales e, f# and b chromatic. What am I missing?
(I love your apps and and am grateful for all your work in ios)
@cem_olcay no worries man. I just hadn’t heard anything in awhile and was hoping It was still happening. Thanks for getting back to me. Can’t wait for that one to “really tie the room together” lol
Oh yeah, it was ignoring the flat notes apparently, I fixed that and uploaded a new version. It will be fixed in the next version, thanks for reporting that!
The new version is up! Scale Finder is better now!

@cem_olcay why 2 C notes on the keyboard?
A lot of duplicate chromatic scales. See Ab and F#. For me, it’s too many chromatic scales to scroll through even without duplicates. I’d be in favor of leaving all the chromatic scales out, or having an option to.
Yeah, that’s a good point, I’ll make an update for this 👍
Im guessing here, but maybe because most real keys, no matter how many octaves are on the keyboard usually have that extra note. ie 25, 37, 49 keys instead of 24, 36, 48. however in this case I can see how it might not be needed, maybe it just looks better or more natural visually with the 13th note.
If you’re typing in notes to find the scale, not in the key of C, then there are 2 C’s in the middle of the scale, that’s really strange.
@cem_olcay would it be possible to add a quantization mode, that maps any scale either only to the white keys, or to the entire note range of incoming MIDI (no rounding or silencing of off scale notes). It would make it easier to use non-piano key MIDI controllers like launch pads or the MIDI output of analog style sequencers like my Korg SQ-1. You would not waste note range through silent or double mapped notes, and you would have equal pitch steps on the sliders or knobs of analog style sequencers.
@cem_olcay very often I am getting stuck notes when changing the scale or key in ScaleBud 2. Example setup: Midi input from StepBud -> ScaleBud 2. Simple C4 E4 G4 C major arpeggio. Output goes to a synth app like Zeeon or Bleass Monolit. All in AUM on an iPad 9 and iOS 16.x. It does not matter if I use a different synth - switching the key or scale in StepBud 2 often leads to stuck MIDI chaos.
Are you changing key / scale while notes are still held down?
I just have a sequencer running and then I’m changing the key. So my guess is the held note while switching state can happen. Other scaler apps like Rozeta Scaler seem to be able to handle this by simply passing all note off events of held notes.
Yeh, it requires tracking of note-on and note-off values to be sure the note-off isn't transposed after the change. Could be that ScaleBud didn't anticipate this happening.
I think so. Well there is your SimpleScaler Mozaic script that seems to track notes well and the presets are a great feature. Thanks for that !
Was thinking of getting scalebud, but it’s a dealbreaker, if it produces stuck notes.
@cem_olcay did you confirm this issue?
