That’s good! I’ll use this method too then!
Beat Time does not download from any video sites. I repeat, Beat Time does not download from any video sites.
Whisper it once, then forget you ever heard about it.
For the last six months, BT has barely worked for me in this regard. Have you used it lately?
Anyone know how does BT extract audio from the video? Do they have to update every few weeks to keep that feature working like we did with Tube AU? I wonder if there's some other way to do this that we haven't thought of.. Is BT running standalone or as an audio unit plugin?
It is a standalone app with no audio connectivity. It hasn’t had an update in a while. On average, it had a couple of updates per year for a while.
Thanks.
You know there are a few apps and web tools that can convert a YouTube link to an MP3 file. Can’t think of any off the top though… let me search.
Good luck in your hunt @Blue_Mangoo
Hopefully some of this helps in someway

Web Audio player uses a different design from Tube AU. I haven't checked it recently to see if it still works with YouTube. Other websites that just give up the audio file without trying to hide the URL will still work just fine. YouTube might still work.

Last couple… hopefully they give you some idea of what’s going on and how that might apply to your apps…

It was so cool that you hacked a wormhole past YouTube security. Thank you for the app while it worked. I could not believe it passed the iTunes gatekeepers. It just shows how they feel about Google assets and their IP protection practices. A FU from one player to another. We got to skip the audio loopback for a while. Where there's a will...
Can’t you just chain him to the desk?…
There's a name for that business model. At least he gave us months of services.
Yes, I checked on a few videos first before I posted…
Out of interest, why doesn’t everyone just use screen recording if the quality isn’t an issue?
It is worse quality than .WAV for sure. Even though screen recording audio resolution is 16bit 44.1, it's still AAC audio.
I've no problem with screen recording. Ripping compressed uploads on YouTube is always going to have quality issues whether you are screen recording or using an app so I'm happy using whatever is available
Interesting. It rarely works for me anymore.
I seldom use the app anymore since I find it a bit smoother to use loop-back on the desktop to record when I need that stuff. Both my Audient ID4Mk2 and Steinberg UR-242 have a loop-back feature that works perfectly for this.
On iOS I just use screen recording when I need 'that stuff' and strip the audio.
Radio Unit is also quite fun for 'happy accident sampling' which is what I tend to use the most
But yes, it does not work for all YT videos so it's a hit or miss, screen recording works all the time...
My application is archiving tutorials where I need the video for offline viewing. Unfortunately, screen recording isn’t great for that.
I guess that is partly why Youtube wants everyone to 'Go Premium' as it allows you to save videos for off-line viewing...
I tend to do the downloading on the desktop anyway since I've got more storage there than on my iPad or iPhone
The real charm on Tube AU was the streaming of the YT-Videos...
If I recall correctly downloading from YT is a 'violation' of the EULA (End user License Agreement) so they have the right to do everything to 'block' that functionality which I think they already try to do by changing the url encryption at somewhat regular intervals.
Sure it sucks but that's life...
Web Audio Player has been working fine for me since the TubeAU app started to crackle on recording in AUM a few weeks ago.
I use Web Audio Player

for anything Youtube and any sample based sites, basically anything that plays audio.
Can’t even remember buying this app, but I have it! 😂
Yep. Me too. I’m sure I haven’t used it once.
So we can import audio from YouTube with this one?🤦🏻
Who knew?
