    Nice :-)

  • Hi Guys,

I'm reading through some of the posts since. I'm also listening to the beats. Awesome work guys. The Cinco midi organizer looks really fantastic. Is this out yet? Anyone know what this will cost?

Over the last week we fixed a couple of issue and are testing iMPC 1.1. Should be submitting to Apple any day now.

-We have a fix for the trim end points. I consider this the most serious bug. Somewhere we got an UMRN mixed up.

-We fixed a velocity related bug with midi input. (MPC Element).

-We have a fix for the crash when you press 'set global' on the master fader or some of the fx returns.

-We have changed the IAA setting from generator to instrument. This helps thing to sync up when you are running in Cubasis for example.

-We fixed a bug related to fade-in/amplify preview in chop mode.

-We added a sample delete feature. Which was a little tricker then it might seem.

-We fixed up the ram meter a bit.

@parallaxobject we are fixing the disconnection issue in Tabletop as I type. An update is coming here too. I know we don't have an input port at the moment. I'd like to see that.

I saw a comment about silence at the end of AudioCopied loops from Tabletop. We do this to preserve the reverb tail or ending crashes. Also abruptly ending on a loop boundary doesn't loop quite right either. You can now use AudioCopy to trim this off. We have been planning a much nicer solution that should be coming later this year or early next year I hope.

I also saw some comments about 16 levels and polyphony. I think I follow the idea here. It would be nice to be able to play chords here, but it just isn't in the design at the moment.

Yes, we had a design for multi layer pads. However this feature was cut from 1.0. The manual needs updating.

@SpookyZoon I know iMini doesn't have midi channel selection, but it does have midi support. What is the issue here?

@DaveMagoo We really want to improve these error codes. I'm hoping we can soon. Is it possible you are out of space on your SoundCloud account?

There is lot's of great discussion in the forum, but I've not been able to read everything. If I'm missing something important (other bugs, questions) let me know. I read /r/ipadmusic too, so I try to stay conscious of that too. My email is [email protected]

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the update Dan

What is the issue with an instrument listening on all MIDI channels??

The issue is that frequently musicians send MIDI data but don't want everything in the chain to respond to all of it at all times. Being able to select which instrument responds to which channel is a basic feature that most people expect in any instrument.
This isn't some esoteric thing that most people would never even think of using, it's something that has been around since the dawn of MIDI, and people have been griping about its lack in iMini since it was released- that can't be a new concept to you folks.

  • @Zymos Ok, we need a midi channel filter or some other technique here. We are building this into our next app, and we will fold it back into iMini soon.

  • Great news, lots of people have been worried that the next synth was going to have the same issue as iMini. There really was a lot of disappointment expressed in the iOS music world when iMini had its MIDI "fixed", yet still didn't have the ability to select a channel.

So, the rumor mill says Prophet VS, based on clues left behind in Tabletop.
Confirm or deny? Can't blame a guy for trying....

  • This looks like great news @DanWalton! I'll look forward to the fixes (especially sync'ing to Cubasis)! The sample deleting will also be nice! It also will be nice to have the iMini fixes! Thanks for updating us about this! :-)

  • that's a nice beat @buska

  • Appreciate the effort Dan.

Cheers :) its the only one that didn't corrupt when i saved it. Thought i should post it here. Didn't realize how muddy the bass was, ah well :D

  • @Buska Didn't corrupt? What happened exactly? I'd love more details here.

Sample end points lost, and one track has a weird clipping issue when reloaded. The main sample has a sound like whitenoiseish for a split second at the start of each chop.
Anyway waiting to see if the upcoming patch is going to fix these issues, i have been talking to your tech support also.

  • @Buska The end point issue is fixed and will be available soon. I'm interested in weird clipping issue and whitenoiseish. Have you used iExplorer? Can you send me the session?

I use iFunbox, yup will try.

Ok I was just going to upload the song to soundcloud so you had audio of the problem when this happened:

Now the clipping whitenoise is gone, but so is the interapp effects. So I guess it was an IAA bug? but now the song sounds quite different as there is no FX anymore. Better than the nasty clipping though..

EDIT: worth noting that iMpc Pro is the only App open on the iPad.

  • Took the chance, great app, really. But it crashed more than a few times when trying to save projects, lost whole sessions this way... :/

  • edited July 2014

@DanWalton now that sounds like the update we were all hoping for, great news indeed. :)

Are multi-layered sampling capabilities still planned?

  • Finally over the page. I know it can be done but not quite sure how to post a soundcloud link without embedding it. @syrupcore?

  • Hopefully some will find this helpful. At first I thought the help section was a bit scant, but in actual fact its context specific...so if your'e in Main section you'll only get the help screen for the main section. There's actually a whole lot of useful stuff if you go in there when you're in the relevant section i.e timeline etc

  • yes synth and son that was me talking about it back then, but also I think before that on their Facebook page they said they'd take care of it.

Dan I really appreciate your chiming in here and sharing your thoughts with us about this issue and others. I just wish that you'd let us decide on whether to have that extra space at the end or not, when you're dealing with a ton of sample work in your project it's really important to be able to export the audio loops without the hassle of having to use another app/ another step to get the loops out. It sounds like you guys might be over thinking it a bit i'm not asking for anything special really just the same kind of audio export thats in other apps, you know like ableton or whatever. And I hope you guys implement audio export of individual loops in a sequence as well cause most of us bought your app to do allot of sampling and for a few tracks the mute all but one track method then export option is cool, but for heavy sampling it would really help keep us from pulling out our hair to be able to export our individual tracks to audio loops at once.

also it's nice that you guys made those sample folders for us but most people using mpcs and any sampler really need to be able to create, name, and organize their samples how they want, you could meet 50 samplist who need to organize their samples 50 different ways. please let us do that.

thank you again for being present here and getting involved.

Ha yeah I only noticed this last night !

+1 on the "Include tail?" option on audio export. It's a pretty standard export option across audio apps at this point (including desktop DAWs like logic/protools). Plenty of valid reasons to need both options. I don't think you'll have many confused users.

@supadom I'm not sure of a way that doesn't involved writing html. If you put the link inside of an anchor element, the embed doesn't happen. This HTML:

    <a href="http://soundcloud.co/syrupcore/dubillion">My sound cloud jam</a>

will come out like: My sound cloud jam. Note: I had to keep the m off of com in the example text so that it didn't actually embed it but it's there in the link within this sentence.

Thanks, Dave. That will help - but what I want to know is how do we know which note is being played when we use the 'tune' toggle? Without that, how can the sequence be harmonised with other apps?

Or am I just too old to understand?

  • @DanWalton Hi Dan, thanks for fix the Element velocity bug, can you fix the light feedback too??

When I change pads bank I continue to see all pads lights from all banks, is better if I can see the light feedback of the bank I am....

and would be cool if you can use the green light pads for other options like bank selections and next sequence selections or pads mute.

    Thanks

Me too, tuning ain't my speciality especially with drums....I would love to see a key detection of sorts for all samples including a key displayed on the pads for the 16 levels......and also when tuning notes in the timeline...

@DanWalton could this be added to the feature request list please?

    Cheers :)

  • Does anyone know if there's a way to edit a program and save the modifications without creating a new program ? The only way I found is to save with a new name and delete the original program... (and it took me a while to figure out how to delete a program!)

No - they have confirmed (in a support email) that this is not possible.
