Love the sounds but is this behaving itself as an AUV3? Particularly in GarageBand! I’ve bought everything else from them and never carried on trying much. Just too unreliable.
Just tried this out, after update this morning, and with 2 instances in AUM you can’t select different presets: if you change one, it changes the other as well. Bug? Or me being stupid?
Does this record automation properly in cubasis 3?
I think you'll find that the actual preset data is different in the two instances, although the displayed name is the most recently loaded. So, a bug, but not a showstopper.
Thank you. As you say, confusing, but it’s usable.
This synth is redolent of those Fender guitars that come from the factory with the paint already partially peeled off for you.
So, how is everyone finding this? From the online demos, I do hear quite a fee good sounds. However, I also hear quite a bit of really not-so-good sounds.
Are people finding it inspirational for non-'wave' applications? Also, to what degree are sounds sculptable (Anyone coming up with sounds that are radically different to the source material?
Thanks 😊
I find it inspiring for ambient too.
What you see from the webpage and screenshots is what you get. Messing with ADSR is always a good way to change a sound but you’re basically talking of a rompler here, so don’t expect it to be a synth at all.
Jakob’s included presets are numerous and quite versatile as well.
I guess you have to resist the temptation of creating synthwave and adapt it to your style 😊
To me, it's the kind of synth that you launch when you want "that" sound. I can't envision myself using it as often as a real versatile synth (Lagrange is my favorite)
Thanks for the detailed answer. You've confirmed everything I was thinking. I guess I just have to listen a bit more and work out whether it's worth paying for the convenience to not have to do the prcessing with FX.
Thanks again
@tahiche: Great you found it
Here is a screenshots for the others:
Keep in mind it’s only $3.99 for a limited time so it wouldn’t be a huge investment. Looks like it’ll be $9.99 soon. Imo, it’s 1000% worth it. Maybe my favorite of the year.
This app is rather simple, it’s basically a really nice collection of samples with extra possibilities (fx) in a very nice form. So I’d say 90% of its appeal comes from the curation of samples. The synths and sounds picked are very well thought of by Brian Funk to fit a certain atmosphere. It’s like when you’re craving chocolate and you go for the chocolate box instead of searching every corner of the kitchen. You can probably get the same sounds from other synths and some processing, but it’s just a better experience and more enjoyable to have an app that delivers that specific “thing”.

Thanks!
Objectively-speaking, the values is fantastic. Even if it were only a preset pack it'd be great value, but it's much more.
The problem is that I've been out of work for a few years. I can't just buy everything, There's an opportunity-cost to everything I buy i.e which of my 'most-desired' list will have to wait another few months?
I think, ultimately, just the fact that it hasn't grabbed me like "You've GOT TO grab this, NOW!!" is probably a good sign that I should avoid it...at least for the moment. No doubt it'll go on sale again, at some point and my situation may be different.
Thanks!
Will see how it goes. The only way I think I could justify such a niche product is if I committed to doing some tracks completely in any of the various 'Wave' styles.
It could happen...
Reading the issue above, with regards to only have one preset
I recorded a video this morning with 2 instances of the same preset. First gripe is when I go back to see which preset I've chosen, the preset name disappears, giving either 'Welcome' or another line of text.
Then....one of the channels wouldn't play, when I reloaded the file after a short break.
Has anyone else had this issue?
No, but there was an update this morning to fix the preset name issue. Did you try it?
No I didn't
Thank you for letting me know
This thing is really good.
My thought process went something like this:
Totally understandable! And definitely seems like a good sign to wait on it. For me it was an instabuy but I can see why you’d be hesitant considering it is a pretty niche synth compared to some others. If you do decide to get it I’m sure there will be plenty of sales. Audio kit usually does a few sales a year.
Maybe my favorite of the year.
Now is OK
@el_bo would you mind if I gifted you some VHS vibes?. PM me with your email so I can do the Apple Store gift thingy. I think you’ll enjoy it and you shouldn’t feel the pressure to do a whole song with it.
Do you realize how hard it is to get my denim jeans to rip in all the right strategic places. Harrrumph. I’ll take 40 pairs.
Vhs synth = put chorus on a synth. Whoaaaa man
I’ve been underwhelmed with the whole Audiokit endeavor. First of all, I want to make it clear that it’s impressive enough for even attempting to do something like this. There was much enthusiasm spread, a lot of hopes and planning and it all just kinda petered out into decidedly non- “pro” knick-knack retreads with some total what-the-hell-do-they-think-they’re-VHS-era Disney gimmicky marketing (? I don’t even know what to call that strategy truly).
I'm enjoying the synth. I like romplers and it has a ton of fun, usable sounds to get a good sounding track out. The textures the processing adds are also nice.
Oh wow! Such a generous offer! Not really good at accepting gifts (...or compliments), but I have tended to 'pay-forward' to others when it's happened previously. So, in recognition of the joys of both receiving and giving, I'd love to accept your gift.
Currently been selling off desktop plugins to get iOS stuff. But it still makes me nervous to buy. This bypasses any of those issue
And yes...I will use to make a track. It'll be the first track I'll have finished for years
Will PM ya...
FYI- Another app gets ruined by Audiobus by turning to the subscription model.
