Audio Damage tweeted for the first time in awhile, and it definitely appears to be a teaser for Quanta 2. Check it…

  • ohh my! 🤯
    my fav granular!

  • Interesting...

  • Love their Tom Waits reference on the post. I love Quanta so I’d definitely be excited for a v2.

  • Are they going to remove Quanta 1 from the App Store now that Quanta 2 is coming?

  • I don’t know, I hope not though. It was only tweeted 1 hr 25 mins ago. It’s in Eastern Standard Time.

Can’t say for sure, but when they upgraded Phosphor to version 3, it was a separate app. You could keep using the old one if you already owned it, but version 2 was removed from sale. So if you already own Quanta 1, I expect you’ll be able to keep it — but if you’re on the fence about buying it, chances are you won’t be able to after v2 drops.

I don’t have any affiliation with AD, I just use their stuff regularly.

    Thank you.

If Quanta 1 is still there after the release I may get it
but I'm most probably going to get Quanta 2 instead. 😏

  • I buy Audio Damage apps with gritted teeth these days. Amazing sound design. Always a bit buggy. Rarely fixed.

  • Which are still buggy? I use Continua and Dub Station regularly.

  • GREAT! Would be nice if they made some more of their apps universal (OtherDesertCities) though.

  • edited June 2022

I've found two bugs in Other Desert Cities (one with feedback in Mirage with head numbers other than 2, and another with negative semitone settings in Cactus and Mirage), both have been acknowledged over email but I was told that since the signal path is so complicated it could be impossible to track them down.

  • I have almost everything by them. I really like continua and quanta.

Yea not always a lot of updates coming in on AD apps.

Hopefully there’s an upgrade bundle or Intro pricing.

The new app every time approach with iOS synths is not great, because you can't update old projects. Wish paid upgrades were a thing. Would gladly pay for that.

  • Not sure Id buy another app. If havent used Quanta. There should be discount for people who bought Quanta. I do buy app ugrades. Even if I dont use app though.

"Dumb it down?" Sounds like they just didn't want to put in the work to support it on a platform that they've never liked...Chris is always bemoaning the platform on Twitter.

There are no "dumb" apps on the iPadOS platform...just a clear ROI when it comes to deploying and supporting apps on the platform.

  • Hope they will at least make original Quanta universal and bring it to the iPhone as well…

I don't think that Chris' view is totally off. How many users have really explored the depths of Quanta?
    Less than 1% I guess.

    Agreed!

  • It’s not like there are no good granular options for iPad… we are pretty spoiled in that regard

  • Most AD apps on iOS I’ve used have badly functioning preset management, ‘weird’ touch implementation and graphical glitches. I won’t cry over their decision but iPad OS is hardly ‘dumb’ it’s just their opinion.

I sense a somewhat bitter developer venting out…

Yeah. I said what I had to say, and kept it civil. We'll see if Chris dives in and carpet bombs the thread to oblivion as he's apt to do from time to time...

Disappointing, but they have to run their business as they see fit. There is plenty of competition available.

  • I hope the Quanta 1 update dumbs it down.
    😂

I love Quanta a lot but yeah its preset management is a nightmare, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had to delete them all and reinstall

  • Yes, tone makes a huge difference 😂

Agreed. Love their ideas, conception, design, originality. They don’t give a damn about fixing iOS bugs tho.

  • As the echo opera quote above shows, they really don’t give much of a fuck about iOS. Such a pity.
