@ipadbeatmaking : Anotjer great synopsis by you, much appreciated..What do you mean though by “handshake with the Mac”?

The MPC comes with MPC 2 software for Mac/PC, which allows you to put the MPC (hardware) into controller mode, via a usb cable, and control all the parameters of the MPC features on your computer, with your MPC hardware (or without it). This allows seamless integration of desktop plugins into the MPC workflow. Also, with all of the MPC plugins you own on the MPC hardware, there's also (free) Desktop (for MPC 2 software) versions as well. It's a big win win for people who want to move between MPC standalone convenience, along with options of desktop plugin power.

Can you run regular plugins on desktop?

No VST3 plugins on PC, only VST2 (there is a 3d party wrapper)

If you own a modern iPad and have a healthy collection of apps there's no need to get an MPC (or any other standalone hardware) because there's something for everyone on iPad. The iPad is an amazingly capable device, that gets better daily as evidenced by the releases of new apps.

It depends .... if someone likes hardware ,the MPC One is better than an iPad with 100 top apps/synths/fx etc
Dummy controllers can't beat the integration
It's just a matter of preference

  • @ipadbeatmaking : Thanks again and looking forward to your next YouTube installment..P.S— Been getting into n-Track .. I like it …I think I might get the “suite” edition w the 10 gig of instruments and pitch correction..

Yes. All VST & AU plugins work on Mac for me. Gives you the best of MPC workflow + 3rd party Desktop plugins.

Edit: And the Live 2 makes a great audio interface/speaker for the Macbook as well.
