  • @Gravitas : I don’t recall if they were mentioned up-thread, the Expert Sleepers are excellent multi-channel interfaces that are DC-Coupled and great for transporting audio and cv back and forth from desktop or mobile to eurorack and back.

Some Eurorack devs apparently do some modeling in MAX/MSP or Audulus as proof of concept before doing hardware prototypes

Yup, I'm fully aware of the Expert Sleepers range.

I kept my blackface ADAT for archival purposes.
It can be modified to use for full range CV signals and
this way it repurposes one of my legacy hardware units.
Once the mod is done then I've got 8 ins and outs for CV use.
I don't know if I'll be able to use the outputs for audio afterwards though.

There is an Expert Sleepers model that has lightpipe i/o. I believe that this would let you use that ADAT without having to modify it.

    I've seen that model.
It takes ADAT lightpipe in and converts to cv signals out.
The mod to the ADAT machine achieves the same thing for both the inputs and outputs.
The mod is really simple for the blackface ADAT which
is bridging some of the capacitors and replacing some of the resistors.
    It doesn't take much doing.

    Quick update.

I now have 4 dyna compressor pedals paired with
distortion pedals patched in to the Behringer UMC1820
as send and returns or inserts.
I'm currently waiting for the vactrols to arrive so
that I can modify my AWARD SessionMaster pedal
for CV use and alongside that getting potentiometers custom made
as the original manufacturers are not around anymore.

I've been getting to know the sound of the pedals
and on route I've put together a nice channel strip
for dRambo to be used whenever sounds need to be
    sent out of the box.
    More on this topic later.

I've also resurrected my blackface ADAT for
extra inputs and my JV1010 and Emu Proteus 1.
Suddenly I have a whole swathe of sounds available at my finger tips.

    More news to follow.

East Beast sounds great to me. Plus, $100 less than the Mavis.

    Noted.

I've seen that before and it does look very interesting.
On another note I've have been playing with the synths that
I do have including the ones that I've built in dRambo.
One of my recent synths has 8 x oscillators, series/parallel filters
and a whole of heaps effects.
    Sounded alright.

Anyway have a look here at the JV1010.
It has 16 midi channels so that's basically sixteen sample/synths
    with individual cutoff and resonance.

    https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/roland-jv1010

It responds to JV2080 sysex and I found this on patchstorage.com

    https://patchstorage.com/jv2080-patch-browser/

dRambo covers the rest in regards to CC messages.

  • The vactrols have arrived.

    Waiting for the resistors.

  • Here's an off the cuff drum programming session
for the performance piece I'm designing at the moment.
The actually piece should be finished soon.
It's got almost 50 tracks happening.
Various drum samples with sounds from Bleass Sample Wiz 2,
Korg module, iSymphonic JV1010 and the Proteus 1.

This was recorded on my iPhone so the audio quality is what it is.

  • Quick update.

Back up LaunchControl XL has finally at long last arrived
now I can send my one in for repair, Novation Tech dept have been waiting for two weeks.

When it returns back from Novation I shall have 2 LC XL’s.
Now I can finish a couple of my dRambo performance instruments.
Resistors are turning up tomorrow and oh by the way
I shall be live streaming on a regular basis from next week I think.
    I’m currently still doing tests.

You know that moment when the parts you
were waiting for arrive through the post
to add cv inputs to a guitar pedal
and the external audio interface that you were
going to use to test said CV inputs suddenly turns into a brick?

    Yup.
    That moment.

Yes, I've jumped through the hoops.
Yes, I've tested it on two idevices, three usb hubs two of which are brand new.
    Yes, contacted Native Instruments.
No, they haven't sent me the info to send it in to get repaired.

    Oh well.

    Another brick in the wall.

    On the other hand,

My LC XL is on the blink so it's in for repairs.
    I contacted Novation.
    Novation say "what's wrong?"

    "It's not working."

"Here's an RMA number and the address, send it in."

"I've got to wait until I get a replacement because
I've got some seriously mega projects going on"

    "No worries, take your time."

When it arrives at their tech department,
they immediately send me an email saying,
"it's here we'll get back to you within ten days.
Give us a little bit of time to get it fixed dependant upon our workload
If you don't pay for the repair within there months it stays here."

    I'm like,...

    "Now that's Pro."

    Korg U.K is the same.

One week before Lockdown they rushed my parts through the post.

    Brilliant.

  • Quick update.

N.I tech have come through so my brick is going to be getting serviced.

    On another note

Adding CV capability to my guitar preamp has started.

  • And Novation have sorted out my LaunchControl XL already.

I have no issues with iCloud.
    It works as expected.

    Sorry. Too soon?

    For what?

  • On another note entirely.

    I'm leaving the Audiobus Forum.

    My time here is done.
I'm not going to delete my account because
I've left quite a lot of information if anyone is interested
and I need to be able to communicate with my students
other than that you will find me on the Beepstreet Forum or on Synthgroups.

    It's been an interesting journey.

    Thank you for the experience.

I’m sad to see you go: I’ve enjoyed your posts and learnt a lot from them.

  • Just passing by.

I now have both the Moog Werkstatt and the Korg NTS-1 to play with.

Here’s a utility for the Korg NTS-1, made in dRambo,
which one could use for saving presets and editing on the fly.
    Makes menu diving much easier.
Map the cc’s using your controller of choice, have fun.
