Speaking for myself:
Availability of way, way, way more music making software.
One could argue that. Maintaining apps for the plethora of Android versions and variations has got to be daunting. This and the historical problems with latency on Android have hindered the market, with only a relative few developers being willing to go there.
I find even the app store, with all it's annoyances and faults, is hugely convenient over updating and maintaining apps from multiple sources. I don't miss those days on Windows one bit.
Interoperability between devices (iPad, iPhone, Mac) isn't perfect, but it's way smoother than trying to integrate an Android device.
I've absolutely no motivation to go the DIY route with a rooted OS. And I'm a hacker at heart. I just don't find combining that kind of activity with creativity attractive at all.
Is the closed software architecture of Apple's products better than Android? Yes. There's no question about that.
When I’ve beta tested various multi-platform apps, the majority of reported issues seem to be with Android-based products.
Android is not a good music making environment. It’s a smartphone operating system and it is doing its job great.
I’ve done this before, and I’m never making my phone a DIY project ever again. It’s simply not worth my time when I can just use an iPhone right out of the box.
You can use android „as it is“ as well, with a lot more control over files for example. Not mentioning that every major phone manufacturer adds some tweaks to the interface, there is no only one stock android.
To summarize – good that everyone can choose iOS android or Blackberry, whatever suits them best
Absolutely. People should choose what suits them and rises to their own level of tolerance for bad software. I chose long ago to not get taken in by Google’s knockoff of iOS.
Perhaps you have bad experience with older less advanced versions of android. I recommend you try the current ones. You could be positively surprised. Cheers
No thanks.

I’m really quite enjoying my BlackBerry these days.
