Oh, my. These are amazing. Thanks so much, Spider.

“Chrysanthemum Fountain” sounds like Vangelis distilled into a single patch. Wow.

That patch is fantastic. Big up @Spidericemidas very inspiring sounds and beautiful sonic journeys ahead

That's one of my better and favourite patches from this exercise. It's the kind of sound I've wanted to make for a long time, but has not been possible for me on iOS until Nambu arrived. I think with some further time and digging, Nambu could get you pretty close to sounds like a D50 or Wavestation.

In fact, it delighted Satoshi no end when I mentioned to him that shortly before Nambu appeared, I was in the market for a D50. But after having an initial dabble with Nambu, I realised it could be possible to get some way towards D50 type sounds and beyond. So Nambu cured my gas for a D50 and a Wavestation! 🤣

  • thanks

You're welcome. Hoping these will help to promote Nambu!

  • Fucking GREAT! Thanks @Spidericemidas 🙏🏼

Sweet! I hope they give you some ideas for a richardyot bank. Nambu deserves your attention and sound design skills.

Although Nambu is advertised as a 6 Op FM synth, you don't actually have to do any FM with it at all if that's not your thing.
The matrix also acts as a mixer and a modular environment for routing and modulating 6 things in any way you like! When you realise that, you realise that almost anything is possible!!

    😲😆 Cheers!

  • Been waiting for this, big thanks for sharing. Became a big fan of Kronecker after got your preset pack. By the way may I use some of these as I starting points for further tweaking? Most of mine patches is weird bases and some kind of modular bleeps, bells and plucks)

Thank you @Spidericemidas These are freakin great.

It's a wonderful synth to work with. So many possibilities! 🤪

Oh yes! Further tweaking and tinkering is greatly encouraged and that's what it's all about. Use them as they are or reverse engineer them for studying or use them as guides or starting points for developing to your own tastes and needs. It's all good! They're there to be used in whatever ways are useful to you. Have fun with them! 😃

    Thank you! ❤️

    Thanks! 😊🙏

  • These are SO good, thank you for sharing these. I love Nambu, it’s been one of my go-tos since it was released and even still some of these patches are blowing my mind. I’m as excited to pull these patches apart to try figure out some of your magic sauce as I am to just jam on them for hours. You’re a wizard Spider 🧙‍♂️

Oh, thanks, really appreciate that! I'm already saved 34 presets from your pack and looks like I'm gonna switch to flight mode and will made The Great Tweaking Saturday ;)

  • Thanks for the patches Spider!

I have made a few of my own and I agree - the possibilities really boggle your mind with Nambu. The stuff I’ve made sounds a bit thin and “FM-ey” whether it has FM in it or not. Looking forward to dissecting what you’ve created here!

  • Thanks for these. Amazing work, per usual!

  • @Spidericemidas Bloody brilliant cheers spider.

Very cool! Thanks! I think perhaps the sums are greater than the parts. Most all the modulations are only very subtle in these. Nothing with any extreme settings. The padding doesn't need to be too complex, and some parts are only in there to enhance the effect of other parts or to boost a transient.

One interesting and cool thing I realised is that you can delay the initial attack of the amp envelope so the sound doesn't start straight away when you press and hold a key. (You can also do this in Yonac's Kaspar). So in the "Discovery" patch I've applied the delayed attack to two of the operators, timed to trigger each op at different times after the initial key press. One of the ops is set an octave or so below the other. Plus there's a pad in the background. So if you press and hold a bunch of keys in sequence, the pad comes in first and sustains, then a second or so later the first op pops in, and then the second op pops in another second or so after that. If you keep pressing and holding keys in sequences like this, the delayed attacks on the two ops create an effect almost like a random generative sequencer as they pop in and out following the timings between each key press. You'll see what I mean if you try out the "Discovery" patch.

I noticed this (!) as I went through a variety of playing styles on each patch. Some patches provided the whole story immediately, while others evolved in coloration and form over time. A real feast for the ears and mind.

Satoshi was very kind to give me a code for Nambu shortly before its official release. So this is me actually paying him back! Haha 😄

  • These presets are so good they should be included with Nambu :sunglasses:

That's one of my better and favourite patches from this exercise. It's the kind of sound I've wanted to make for a long time, but has not been possible for me on iOS until Nambu arrived. Yeah I noticed quite a few Vangelis-esque vibes amongst the patches.

I think my favourite so far is "Apollo" with that lovely chiptune-esque shimmery glissando. It's an effect I've tried unsuccessfully to create in other synths, so delighted to hear you've pulled it off so well ... ever since I heard it in the game FEZ and in the music of Borealism (wind to about 40-50 sec) I've wanted to be able to recreate it. :#

Yes, Apollo was another patch that jumped out at me.

  • Yes, yes! Incredibly detailed patches and so inspiring to play. Can’t get enough of Fallen Angel and Cosmic Rain. Thanks so much!
