I daresay a lot of the "well IAA is just fine and dandy as it is" do not play at live shows. IAA is fine if you have plenty of time to jump between apps running in the background or can put up with no being able to save "snapshots" - but for live performers AUv3 was a godsend! Finally making it possible to seriously setup up shows, songs and patches with several apps at the same time, with ONE loading procedure.
Not saying IAA apps are not useful, they are, but not really in any serious live context.

We all probably agree on this. But devs made those apps according to the standard at that time. They can’t be blamed for not porting them to the new standard. Be assured that if a dev thought they’d make money releasing the auv3 version, they would.
Here’s a (probably silly) idea. Isn’t there some sort of crowdfunding platform of sorts where all the users that would definately buy the auv3 version could secure a payment?. Something like “1000 users, 10€ each”, I’m sure the dev would jump right in. But reality is that numbers are what they are.

Yeah fair! Good idea on the crowdfunding - I would think an app developer could instigate one pretty easily. There are a couple of devs I would 100% pledge $'s to for crowdfunding an AuV3 upgrade!

  • @tahiche crowdfunding would be a great way to see how many actual interested people there are who will put their money down. There is a lot of noise put out about how apps "should be this" or "should be that" or "need this feature" etc. and how "I'd pay again if you add this" and with actual physical numbers for everyone to see then we would have a pretty good idea of the reality and maybe put a lot of the speculation and demands to rest. (well, probably not the demands 🙂)
I also like @Samu 's idea for music apps. A little corporate support could go a long way in developing the established user base a little further and provide a more supportive space for the genre/niche to thrive in. After all, it should fit in well with Apple's desires to be integrated into the education space. Music is a good thing for learning development.

If I am not mistaken the crowd funding was offered to some dev (NS2?, Caustic?) and they had not interest in it .

  • FWIW, and inspired by this thread, I sent a message (via Lumbeat FB page) to Luis M asking if he'd be interested in partaking in a crowd-funding scheme. He rarely answers, so I expect nothing will come of it, but, hey, we've got to start somewhere. right? :)
