Great update! Very fun.
Nice!!
it still doesn't replace SoundPrism for me as I can't make 7th and 9th chords.
I would like to be able to play chord "figures" with one finger that I can transpose all around.
Headline is misleading. It‘s not free yet.
You need to create a new song (preset) and then edit it. Then you will have all existing settings, inkl. MIDI.
It will become free on Christmas.
Did you try the "Simple chord mode"? Should behave like SoundPrism.
I want to rephrase my sugestion using audanikas terminology after having played a little with v3:
I want a new Play mode, similar to simple chords, but instead of having this rectangle that I have in "simple chords" mode, I want to be able to "draw" the shape of notes that will be played.
I kinda do this now with SP using the two notes mode, then I can play triads and 7ths with two finger.
If this is too complicated, if "simple chords" are triads, I would like to have "dyads" and extensions.
The upper and lower scale extensions are just genious! and this is now free, excelent job!!
Awesome update, Gabriel!
Hope everything is going fine there and Audanika will achieve even bigger audiences. I always love your work and focus on music education
Agree, hiding the settings in the preset browser seemed a little odd to me too. And it’s confusing that the menu remembers where you exited it, that kind of gives me a feeling of never really knowing what menu layer I’m in…
Say, for example, i quit the menu from the midi settings. Next time i open the menu theres just an empty screen with no indication that I’m actually already in a sub-menu. I feel like pressing the menu button should either always bring you to the same menu screen, or there should for example be a navigation bar at the top telling you where you are, e.g. „presets>>Default Song >> edit >> MIDI settings“.
Also after I selected a christmas song i got the notification „internal sounds disabled in midi settings“. But the midi settings are completely empty. Now the app is silent, even when i restarted it or selected other presets… (edit: a reinstall fixed this)
All that aside, it’s a fun app and I’m glad the update reminded me of how I’ve definitely not used it enough! Great app to be able to jam with friends no matter what your musical background is
@dobbs Sounds like a bug. The midi settings menu isn't blank for me.
Seems so, I tried on my phone this morning and had none of the problems. on my phone I only saw the midi menu once I had activated the midi extension. When I tried on iPad yesterday the midi menu had appeared on its own (and was empty).
The question is: can you live with it?
Congrats @gatzsche. Love the Christmas songs IAP.
@gatzsche ive found this weird behavior a couple times:
I want to really thank you for this wonderful tool.
Im not well versed on music theory, but i think i have s good ear and make good melodies.
However making the armonies is a daunting task.
With Audanika I can’t instantly test my melodies over diferent vhords both inside and outside the scale and that makes it an invaluable tool
The vpfsct thst i cant open it beside Drambo is just wonderful.
I hope Ableton implements midi in, that would make this its perfect companion.
Here is a little progression/melody i recorded yesterday when testing Audanika
I would have never composed that in a million years, I have no idea what is going on but it sounds great.
@gatzsche Just wondering whether the freemium model in app purchase to unlock full functionality will be more or less than the current price? Thanks.
Thank you so much for that feedback. There is a bug with my MIDI implementation. I'm going to reproduce and fix that.
I'm also planning to make the MIDI and sound settings available for the Christmas Songs. Currently, they are only available in customer Songs.
Yes, the menu handling could be better. I'm going to think about adding more orientation. I am experiencing both, first, where I wish to jump to the beginning on return, and second, where I want to return to the last place.
My goal is to allow you to switch complete setup with songs incl. Extension settings, sound, et. That is why all settings are currently part of a song, and no global settings are available. Of course, there should also be a possibility to apply specific settings (e.g., hold button) to all songs quickly.
Thank you so much for that encouragement.
Yes, drawing your custom chord shapes would be awesome. I have put it on my list of feature requests.
As a next step, I could imagine adding a settings gear icon right of the "Simple Chords" play mode, allowing you to specify the width and height of the shape. Doing so, you would be able to create sevenths chords and also chords with more octave tones.
awesome! I'm enjoying as it is in the mean time, awesome job
@gatzsche I will say I have wanted custom chord shapes since the Soundprism days. I think a good way to go about it, would be to press a button to activate the builder then you just tap/highlight the interval pattern you want, then tap a save button and now it will play that interval pattern from anywhere you play on the grid. Bonus points if we can save these voicing patterns as presets to recall as needed. I think this would be the most direct way to offer a sort of “pro” mode for the folks who want to go deeper with their harmonies within the Audanika interface. And personally I’d be happy to pay for it.
Good ideas.
From my point of view, the custom shapes should be part of the "Play Mode" menu.
A (+) button would allow you to add additional play modes, which then could be edited.
Another challenge with custom shapes:
Tones would need to be some kind of "magnetic" in order to allow to play chord inversions.
This is the way.
Midi sends a lot of duplicates, it gives me troubles on drambo.
O, yes. I'm going to fix that.
Hey Robin. Audanika, as an instrument, will be free from now on without restrictions. The Songs like the Christmas Album will fund the app's further development that you or your friends can buy within the app.
