Headline is misleading. It‘s not free yet.

I'm happy to announce that Audanika is free from now on.

@gatzsche Just wondering whether the freemium model in app purchase to unlock full functionality will be more or less than the current price? Thanks.

Hey Robin. Audanika, as an instrument, will be free from now on without restrictions. The Songs like the Christmas Album will fund the app's further development that you or your friends can buy within the app.

    Regarding price of In-App purchase:

    • Users that have Audanika 2 installed on their devices will pay about 2.50$ for the 100 Christmas songs
    • New users that download Audanika for free will pay about 12$ for the 100 Christmas songs

Ah, I see. I misinterpreted freemium as being a ‘trial’ and an Unlock in app purchase for full functionality. That’s really generous of you to make it free as an instrument - thank you so much. Hopefully that means it will reach a huge audience and will become a standard tool within music education. Thanks.

  • What a cool little instrument, instantly addictive! Thank you very much!

@gatzsche ive found this weird behavior a couple times:

could you check this out, some notes are firing one octave up... just checking if you saw that message, no pressure

  • Imthink this cell might be highlighted by mistake

  • Hi @gatzsche! this is neat and a lot of fun to play.

Do you have a place to send bug reports? I have (a reproducible) one where the midi stops sending when switching to a different song and back.

O, yes. Please report in the Audanika 3 Bugs Thread

Actually, the field highlights the dominant sevenths. But I realize that this needs to be clarified. I'm going to think about using a different visualization.

Hmm, that's strange. Anybody who has installed and opened Audanika before Version 3.0.0 should see the discount price.
Anyway, please DM me if you encounter issues with the discount. We will find a solution.

Midi sends a lot of duplicates, it gives me troubles on drambo.

@cokomairena Can you confirm that you are not receiving MIDI from Audanika's "All, Bass, Chord, Melody" simultaneously? Either use "All" or the other three.

I want to really thank you for this wonderful tool.

Im not well versed on music theory, but i think i have s good ear and make good melodies.

However making the armonies is a daunting task.

With Audanika I can’t instantly test my melodies over diferent vhords both inside and outside the scale and that makes it an invaluable tool

The vpfsct thst i cant open it beside Drambo is just wonderful.

I hope Ableton implements midi in, that would make this its perfect companion.

Here is a little progression/melody i recorded yesterday when testing Audanika

I would have never composed that in a million years, I have no idea what is going on but it sounds great.

Wonderful! I'm so happy to see you using Audanika in this way.

Yes, that was it! However in All mode I receive a double note for the melody and the chord.

The only problem about this is that it requires an extra step on whatever app you want to use because the normal behavior is to listen to all on the focused track.

Also if i want to use another midi app i have to reconfigure my host. I think this setting should be selected on audanikas menu to let me listen to all my midi things at the same time.

Agree. Is on my list. Wonder if I just should remove the "all" virtual MIDI port. 🤔 Seems to be too dangerous.

Wasn't there a settings menu in the App?

I mean, for internal sounds, MIDI config and so on ...

I cannot find it anymore 😳

You need to create a new song (preset) and then edit it. Then you will have all existing settings, inkl. MIDI.

    Ahhh.
    Many thanks.

Maybe add the settings to the regular menu in the upper right?

Agree, hiding the settings in the preset browser seemed a little odd to me too. And it’s confusing that the menu remembers where you exited it, that kind of gives me a feeling of never really knowing what menu layer I’m in…

Say, for example, i quit the menu from the midi settings. Next time i open the menu theres just an empty screen with no indication that I’m actually already in a sub-menu. I feel like pressing the menu button should either always bring you to the same menu screen, or there should for example be a navigation bar at the top telling you where you are, e.g. „presets>>Default Song >> edit >> MIDI settings“.

Also after I selected a christmas song i got the notification „internal sounds disabled in midi settings“. But the midi settings are completely empty. Now the app is silent, even when i restarted it or selected other presets… (edit: a reinstall fixed this)

All that aside, it’s a fun app and I’m glad the update reminded me of how I’ve definitely not used it enough! Great app to be able to jam with friends no matter what your musical background is

    +1

I'm going to figure out what is going wrong here. Details about circumstances that lead to the bug would help. Please file a comment here:

Yes, that would be a good first step. That would fix everything except the melody being repeated, the only fix I see to preserve the functionality without repeated notes is to have options on the midi menu to mute/unmute virtual ports.

Right now both chord and melody ports output the melody note. so if you get rid of "all" port it will means that when listening to all the ports on a host (the default behaivour) the bass will be recieved once, the chord will be recieved once except for the melody note, that wil be send in both melody and chord port so you will end with two melody note on and off.

I understand. Thats true. I don't see a good solution to this issue, except writing a good explanation in the not-yet-existing manual.

I have fixed some issues (silent sound, empty MIDI menu, wrong no-sound alert) + removed the "Audanika All" virtual MIDI port. Is anybody interested in a TestFlight invitation? Please DM me your mail address.

  • TestFlight interest here

Is there any setup screen accessible in the standalone app? I'm only seeing an icon in upper right that opens a song menu.

I was looking for a way to control volumes.

You have configuration options (MIDI, key, sound, play mode). To access them, create and edit a song, as shown in this video:

We have not added volume control yet. What kind of volume do you like to control? Master / bass/ chord / melody?

One solution I think would be being able to disable the melody midi output on the midi setup menu.

Another feature I would like is a midi velocity from the accelerometer, like how this works: https://apps.apple.com/cl/app/bass-guitar-one/id1437775064?l=en

Good idea with the MIDI velocity. I have added it to feature requests.
