    K Devices TATAT - Midi Streams Generator is out on Intro price of only $2.99 until June 30 then $6.99

    No idea what it is but I bought it.

    Generative AU midi app. One of my favorite kinds to play with… To sequence or provide new notes to already generated midi.

    Noice. I don’t need it, but I need it.

    FYI

    Although just noting that when audio damage said they were raising prices it never happened other than one app that they had noted had already changed. They listed the others that would follow in coming weeks and said they were going to charge 3 times as much and it never (yet ) happened. The “buy now before it raises soon “ approach definitely led to more buying overall just in case (myself included , I bought continua and quanta after they said that ).

    That said what I’m hearing in forums on social Media is that this Dev is just saying out loud what will happen overall for music apps due to the market /demand changes with the introduction of LP for iPad. There were practically no Memorial Day sales for music apps and most of what’s still showing for appsliced are not really “sales” so much as price decreases from 8-10 months ago. So it’s seeming like for the most part apps will cost more and there isn’t going to be the same iOS sale app structure we have been used to , likely not until dec.

    Been waiting a lot of years for the dev to have a sale. The apps don’t seem expensive at all, but buying an app at full price goes against my religion. :P

    I guess if prices are only going to go up, I should buy something now and retroactively label the purchase as having been “on sale” in a couple months.

    Divixor - step Sequencer free until 1 August

    I can’t find a thread about this. Looks great! Haven’t had a chance to try it yet though as only just finished work

    I don’t think there is one. It was discussed in the No app left behind thread. It could use one.

    Ah looks like it's standalone, not auv3. Probably why no love. It's also not useful to me if it's not auv3. The video demo looks lovely though!

    KQ Dixie is worth the price since it loads dx patches. there’s thousands upon thousands of them free. Even a site to generate a random cartridge and save with every press of a button. Cartridge is from the old hardware term it’s 32 patches.

    KQ Dixie is great indeed, though I somehow don’t find myself using it much. How’re the rest of them?

    I mostly uses it for dumping some weird and free DX patches I find online and playing them. For making my own sounds, I usually go elsewhere as far as FM goes. But I do it sometimes. Minisynth is really great too. One of my favorite iOS Modular’s. And Unotone is just amazing. Captures the weird spirit of the hardware perfectly.

    The same question about KQ Sampei: It looks like nice midi player, but can it play XG midi files after download some XG soundfont file? I think XG it is not only additional sounds, but also effects as on description about Yamaha player:

    "Supports General MIDI and the full XG sound set consisting of 676 voices and 30 drum kits. It also included 11 chorus, 11 reverb, and 43 variation effects"

    I used to listening XG midi files about 20-25 years ago on Windows 98 using probably Yamaha S-YXG50 SoftSynthesizer. Player was look exactly like on the screenshot. I have great memories about sounds quality, it made an impression when listening XG midi on Sound Blaster Live card then.

    What is the best way to listen XG midi files on iOS and is KQ Sampei a good option? (to play all the XG sounds and effects)

    Huh @dakti this is the first I’ve heard of XG midi. I’m guessing maybe the apps manual might hold a clue, but if not maybe someone can try… I don’t have Sampei.

    Yamaha added they 2 cents to the General MIDI standards by adding more instruments in their implementation (sound cards and synths) and calling it Extended General MIDI or “XG” for short. Lot’s of details at:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_XG

    You can enhance KQ Sampei by getting more SF2 files that support this Yamaha Standard at:

    https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts?formats=sf2&tags=xg

    File conversions from *.rar an *7z may be required. I use iZip to get past this packaging issue.

    I found some XG focused midi files at:

    http://www.xg-central.com/

    KQ Sampei is really well done for this type of SoundCanvas and Yamaha XG compatible General MIDI player.

  • edited June 2023

    @McD so it does XG? But sometimes you have to convert a rar or 7z to a zip. Or just use an app that opens rar?

    That’s good to know about Sampei. Thanks.

    @McD:
    Thank you. I guess I'll buy a KQ Sampei then and play around with it a bit. Yamaha software player is probably not compatible with newer Windows than 98 and one of the option is to run the virtual machine under Windows 10 or 11. However would be nice to be able to listen files directly from the iPad.

    @Poppadocrock:
    Please listen to the music from the last McD link, you will surely find some examples that I risk statement don't sound like midi at all, but more like from some DAW :)
