No, it.‘s only mono. In the manual they describe the instrument mode as a mono version of the Mellotron.
I like that you can use 4 tuned samples (like the fader instrument presets) to create chords - you can then control pitch from a midi keyboard. Would be completely awesome if it could record live as well...
Seems like natural progression now to combine them in your next effort. Looking forward to those überclaps on tape! 👊
Right up my alley. I sold my portastudio because of the hassle of all the cables and the cutting and the crafting of the tapeloops (time issue for sure). This looks like you can instantly get the fun of tape loops without all that jazz - I think I will catch this plugin.
I was always thrown off because they called it synthesizer- just watched the video. Great plugin. For sure this is for me
Exactly, I had a blast yesterday doing exactly that and using the transport and locator controls while playing. The MicroFreak samples from the library are really cool for that. And then I also thought that it would be nice if I could record my own MF... This plugin deserves a standalone version with a record button. I also think we should talk the devs into making an iPad version. This thing with a touch UI would be pure fire.
@david_2017 I also underestimated the plugin at first glance. The "Mellotron" synth is only one use case. But the most fun is performing with it similar to a slicing sampler but with a tape machine twist and 4 tracks. Messing with the faders is also great fun.
Meanwhile I gave in to (your 😉) peer pressure and bought this thing, with 13 minutes on the promo countdown clock. Now, instead of work, I want to craft a song ending by replacing the last few bars of the mix with a copy in portatron, then just bring down the speed to zero.
You can still buy it with the link, as well as efx fragments. Oh and the coupon also works.
LOL, sorry for that. Maybe I should tame my enthusiasm
Dangerous. But I must admit that I started playing with it while muting myself in the boring MS teams meetings I have today. Oh dear.
Very cool idea that you had. I think this plugin has a lot of creative potential.
Ha, I’ve been caught out on zoom doing similar 😂
Last comment about Portatron and I‘ll remain silent. I commented on their YT video praising Portatron and proposing some features. They responded that all I demanded is in the works. Well, I demanded only two things: a recrord button and an iPad version 😀
Oh nice, those plus the pitch per track, epic 🙌
That would be pretty magic. All of it.
Wow. You seem to be very persuasive. Could you pop in to some K-devices video and comment-ask for Tatat on iPad please?
We'll need a separate thread at this rate - some very nice preset 'cassettes' for Portatron here: https://takecha.gumroad.com/l/cassette
Nice share, thanks!
Good idea. https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/54235/portatron-lovers-thread

spitfire labs - autograph grand
Highly recommend this - it sounds as good as, if not better than some paid for plugins. If you don't already know about the Spitfire Audio LABS instruments (they're all free!), there's more information here: https://www.spitfireaudio.com/getting-started-labs
Spitfire stuff is usually top notch, but this time I’m curious how it compares to the 1928 vintage Steinway from Soundpaint. This is by far the best sampled piano that I know and it is also completely free.

Image Line (Fruity Loops) seems to have taken over UVI and now they have this incredible offer on UVI bundles:
Essentials Bundle for $89 (7 products incl Shade, Sparkverb, Drum Designer ..)
Power Bundle for $199 (these 7 and 9 more incl Augmented Orchestra, Dual Delay X, Meteor FX ..)
seems too good to let pass, goes til March 5th

I think I'll take the Essentials, was already interested in Shade & Drum Designer

Usually, no - https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/extracting-kontakt-samples.377265/
Some 3rd party libraries store samples as WAV files in separate folders, but the 'official' NI and 3rd libraries that are integrated into the Kontakt app under the 'Libraries' tab don't generally allow access to samples but if they use NCW compressed files to store samples it should be possible - https://www.strezov-sampling.com/article/ncw-to-wav.html

Have they bought them out or is it just partnered deal?
I don't know any details, just read the rumour, and there's a thread at KVR called Image Line acquires UVI.
In the meantime I've bought the Essentials bundle and have even got a $20 voucher to be used for future purchases, especially Shade is very impressive with it's sound shaping capabilities so far. Drum Designer is also very nice.
And I love Falcon and most of the other UVI things I have, so I hope they won't change too much in their future development.
Oh wow. Didn't see that coming. I hope they don't mess with Falcon in any negative way. My fave synth. Such a monster.
