  • Take a basic table, add the word "field" to the name and charge an extra 1,550 pounds.

  • Field Sandwich
    £399

  • Are we sure it's not supposed to say £15.99?

  • swedish math and economy seems to be the bloody pinnacle of Capitalism...

  • they'll be buying those tables in LA.

  • I just updated to ios 16.3 and now I can’t find my desk at all! Anyone else notice this? I’m gonna try for a refund but not holding my breath

Ha-ha, the Mac pro wheel kit is a steal compared to this desk

  • Ingenious plan to make the OP-1 Field seem better value .

  • This desk would suck in a field. No adjustable feet, flat contact area. Do they think fields are level!?!

  • @ervin liked it so much he started a fan thread.
Personally I find this insulting. All kinds of mixed feelings.
I don’t know who I despise more, if T.E for selling overpriced bullshit pseudo-hipster crap or the dumbass who buys it.
Now there’s the remote possibility, endorsed by some forum members, that TE is doing the full spin and all this is just a super intelligent sort of exposing the misery of our consumer society. I don’t think so, and if that was the case I’d rather buy a 300$ TE field-turd 💩 to make the point.

    @tahiche : don’t give them ideas! :)

P.s. : apologies to @ervin who as @tahiche rightly pointed out, was on to this scam, sorry, instance of performance art marketing genius, yesterday. Guess this is why I’m not a hipster. Always arriving too late for the latest hotness…

Only the rich - just like the rich everywhere. (And by the rich I don’t mean the well to do, but those with more dollars than sense and who have corrupted a system to work only for them)

  • I think this is where they have reached peak delusions of grandeur

    i can't argue with that.

  • “please note: field desk is excluded from our free shipping offer.”

  • It's up to buyers to determine if what a company is selling worth the exchange of their money. For my money, this looks insanely optimistic on the part of Teenage Engineering. I suppose they have "fans" who will buy anything from them.

  • It looks like the tables people set up at garage sales that have no other use except to take up space the rest of the year.

That gave me a chuckle on a couple of levels. First, I'm sure they're poking fun at themselves, which I always appreciate when done straight faced and with no clue of the joke. Second, thinking of the people that actually will buy it. Some laughing at themselves, and some clueless of how absurd they are to do it. Third thinking about how seriously most people will take this, missing the joke entirely. And some truly artful funny replies here.

That shook off the morning doldrums a little. Thanks everyone. 😎

  • Just wait for it...
...in a couple of weeks YT influencers will likely be praising 'the table' :sunglasses:
(None of the actually bought it so it's gonna be easy to spot the desperate 'sell outs').

    Nailed it.

  • Ryobi drill, $29.00. Drill 1,000 holes in your table legs. Job done.

  • The real risk the company runs is that some people will see this desk and their other overpriced products and conclude that all TE products are overpriced and not worth the money.

This sort of nonsense can tarnish the whole brand.

Won't happen. Premium pricing is a tactic and it works. Look at most fashion brands. TE is a fashion brand.

And yes, not worth the money in most cases.

Yes, it is a tactic but it doesn't always work. Look how many fashion brands have gone out of business in the last 5 years.

As I said, it was a risk they run. But probably not a big risk as their main products (the music gadgets) are good products.

  • It seems to me TE have a dry sense of humor and are having fun making fun of their image—and possibly trolling both detractors and fanboys.

And if someone actually buys one of the tables, so much the better.

  • I hope TE starts designing money. I have 0 issues paying 2500$ for a TE 1000$ bill because of the engineering of it. I'm sure it will be a marvel and I will be the envy of Portland.

It costs them 30 dollars for those desk parts from IKEA. There’s very little risk here
