There are so many things to be upset about in the modern world, Teenage Engineering just isn't one of them.

I disagree with this - I think they're representative, in spirit, of a large portion of what is wrong with the entire world.
    Greed.

Teenage Engineering and their comically high prices are so reflective of how every company and government wants to take every last cent you have. They want to bleed you completely dry, and then start coming after your offspring, friends and other family members.

Obviously that's a joke, but they're still symbolic of that incredibly harmful-to-society greed that we see throughout so many corporations and companies, and unfortunately even on the individual level.

Since covid hit and everyone jumped on the "charge everyone 100% of their wages for everything" bandwagon, the world has turned into a complete cesspit of everyone with their grubby little hands out wanting all your money.

It's a huge no from me - it goes beyond simply being expensive or a little overpriced.

As been told earlier - if you talk about greed, Teenage Engineering isn’t the right company to piss on…

TE revenue for 2022 was 1/9500 of the revenue of Apples, or, one hour of Apples business is a whole year for TE…

And, no one is forcing us to buy TE stuff or Apple stuff, it’s not food you have to eat for survival…

I feel like this “desk” is a GAS remedy for me. It’s really making me look at myself and how much I spend just trying to “stay current” or have the latest and greatest 🤦‍♂️

The best revenge is to not buy anything from them. By not buying you get satisfaction and you save $$$s.

  • Thanks for the article. The desk makes more sense now knowing there’s going to be all kinds of ways to customize it.

I've always had GAS for the TE OP-1. I've purchased used units then resold on at least 3 occasions over the years. Each time was usually precipitated by advancements in IOS music software. The most recent was a few months ago after I read that TE had released a firmware update (2021) which allowed USB audio support. It sounded like it would be the ideal complement to the Ipad, in theory. In practice however it was not. I quickly realized that having to connect cables and adapters to my Ipad was a pain and ruined the freedom and spontaneity of Ipad music making. All of the sounds and synth engines on the OP-1 are dwarfed by the ones on my Ipad. Same for the sequencers, effects, etc. With Logic Pro for Ipad the difference in power, creative inspiration, convenience, compatibility and fun factor is even more dramatic. I no longer have a desire for an OP-1 or OP-1F. Thank you Apple and my wallet thanks you:)

OMG maybe we can start describing the music we make like TE describes their products:

    Song: Pretentious
Produced in a Scandinavian tunnel under a solar farm in the highlands utilizing a bass guitar with strings made from rare, Himalayan sheep herder rope…
