Very nice. Thank you for making this available as auv3! What will the price be after the intro offer ends?

In the coming months there will probably be price experiments to optimize revenue, so I can see this changing to $24.99 and $29.99 or perhaps return to $19.99. Your guess is as good as mine. :)

    Question answered, apologies. Cheers

It look like this one is only for singlenote playing and not for chord indemntifying.

You usually don't sing chords :)

Another interesting video with that singer.

Holy cow this thing is cool! Only messed with it briefly but has tons of potential and not just for voice.

Does anyone know how to delete the current recording? I removed all the midi notes but couldn’t figure out how to clean the slate and remove the underlying audio. The manual is 110 pages, but seems pretty intuitive.

I would also love to see a loop feature. When messing around with a piece of audio repeatedly hitting the return to beginning button slows the workflow a bit, especially when tinkering and trying different things out. Otherwise this is amazing and I can’t wait to dig deeper. Special thanks to @mjcouche cheers!

I’m happy you’re considering import. I can work around it just fine.
Everything else is great, Don’t get me wrong.

I have added the 'Import audio file' option to the AUv3 mode. It will ask at which bar you want to place it. I hope that will help. After testing, I will release it (should be in a couple of days). I'll also add the paste from iOS clipboard option.

    Awesome!

  • Review of Vocal Tune Studio by Jade Starr (using Garageband)

  • Guitar solo editing with Vocal Tune Studio in Cubasis (non-intended purpose, but works!)

  • Can it detect intitial note of mpe?

Is app mainly for quite defined audio.

No chords and complicated audio, etc.

  • @dwrae Great vid! I assume the recording is locked in place once recorded in Cubasis?

    Please contact [email protected].

Do you have the track active on the audio recorder track? If so, that won't work. You need to play something from an existing track into Vocal Tune Studio.

Is vts loaded on an empty track?
That might be your issue as it’s intended purpose is to fix problems on a pre-recorded track material and not be a track on it’s own.

    I tried both-empty track/recorded track

    It cannot be moved, no.

    I tried both-empty track/recorded track

Please select a recorded track (one of the others), add VTS to it, then press record inside VTS, then press play (not record!) in Garageband. That should work.

I had to select manually the storage folder (again) 👍

  • Vocal Tune Studio 1.3.3 has been released:

    • Added 'Import audio file' and 'Paste from iOS clipboard' to the Audio Unit mode: please read the warning in the app, since this could lead to all kinds of problems if not used with care.
    • Added 'Save to audio file' to the Audio Unit mode
    • Added 'Loop markers' to the standalone mode (double-tap the time bar to activate)
    • Added 'Clear all audio' to the Audio Unit mode.
  • The best just got better!
I hope that now that it’s out, AEM will get the higher priority for the future, unless you plan more surprises ;)

Sure, please note that an AU has no idea what's going on in the host, so if you would do the following for example in a timeline-based DAW, like Cubasis, Auria, AEMS, n-track, etc.:

    • start a new project
    • create an audio track
    • add VTS AUv3 to the effect list of the track
    • import audio into VTS
    • export or render the track in the host -> this would result in a failure message since the DAW has no clip on the track

VTS AUv3 is an effect! So, it's the same as if you would put a delay effect on an empty track, nothing would happen when mixing down, exporting or rendering the track (stems).

    Another example:

    • start a new project
    • record or import audio on the track
    • add VTS AUv3 to the effect list of the track
    • import a different audio file into VTS
    • play: what you see in the DAW has nothing to do anymore with what you hear out of VTS

Great to know I was curious about this as well.

  • Every time I read a post too quickly and see "VTS" I think "VST" and get all excited that there might be a VST version. I wonder how many times I'm going to fall for that one, and what it will do to my brain if there ever is a VTS/VST version. 😂

  • @dwrae : i have my host (loopy pro), set to loop the timeline and am hoping to hear my VTS edits play back looping with the host. What happens is that the audio plays the first time but not thereafter. in the AU's window, the play bar loops correctly but the audio doesn't play again.

    two feature requests:

    • in time only mode would be nice of there were a mode where if you have defined a section to move (with a marker at the beginning and one at the end) that it would simply slide it uniformly and crossfade with any audio in the resulting overlap.
    • option to export the processed audio to the system clipboard.
  • @dwrae: the release notes mention that the new version of the AU can export an audio file. How does one initiate the export?

    That is really cool.

How did you get the audio to turn into midi? Or am i completely missing [or adding] something?

I may be somewhat ignorant but, is this within the app itself? It seems to get a lot of love so Im curious if this is geared for Cubasis/BM3/GB users who dont have this DAW? Otherwise why not just support the DAW?

I can’t believe there is an auto tune for guitar now! This is very cool.

I wish there was an auto tune for my terrible midi drum programming

In the 3-dot menu, you should see an entry 'Save to audio file'. Please note that it only shows when there is audio in VTS.

Well, one of the key features of the app is to identify notes, after which you can correct them if necessary. Since the pitch and duration is known for the detected notes as you can see in the video/screenshots, it is a simple matter to export this information as MIDI. MIDI note events are also simply a combination of event type (note on/off), key number, velocity and timestamp.

It functions both as standalone and AUv3 effect so you can use it in any DAW that supports AUv3 effects (which is basically all of them).

Hold on.. Vocal Tune Studio, as the name says, is intended to work on vocals. It MAY work on other monophonic signals that are not too complex but I don't guarantee that. When used with guitar, it needs to be an unprocessed signal and single-string playing. So chords etc. will not work.

I wish there was an auto tune for my terrible midi drum programming

MIDI events are always in tune, so there is no need for it.
