Hmm.. I'll need to check that with loopy. I just performed a test in Cubasis and it works fine. Perhaps Loopy does not set the 'looping' variable (information from host to AU) correctly, but we'll see.
You could only 'move' a section when something else is stretched and shrunk. AT Pro has this mode where you define a range and then move this range, but something has to stretch/shrink. Anyway, I have thought about it. It's more of how to get this into the user interface than the technical part which is easy.
Wouldn't that be 'Save to audio file' and selecting Copy?
Oh the MIDI was said in jest like I can’t write well ; but I understood about the monophonic correction. And I totally get your points. Sounds great.
Between the multi core update and that video for note detection, I think I’ll be into this DAW very soon
I can post a demonstration and sample project if that would help. The interesting thing is that VTS' play point loops correctly in the AU's timeline. But only plays once.
Yes. For some reason, the Save to Audio File wasn't showing up in the three dot menu. Now, it is . So, that works fine.
Hello @dwrae !
I have 2 comments:
1. I tried using VTS in Cubasis 3. If you activate the Circle button (loop mode), then in some cases VTS correctly plays the recorded track after the first playback, and in some cases the track is not heard.
2. I looked at the files that VTS saves to a folder, for some reason it's FLAC 818 kb/s. Why is it not WAV 16/24 bit (depending on the project settings)?
I'll try again, but if you have a repeatable case, I'd appreciate it.
The app cannot know the settings of the host. Audio always comes in at 32-bit floating point. It will save in 24-bit FLAC to reduce storage space.
Thanks for the answers! I just tried to record a video for you demonstrating the problem, but now VTS is working correctly, I do not know what it depends on.
Here is an example in Loopy Pro. To set it up, record a loop in loopy. load the audio into VTS. In loopy's sequencer add the loop and set the timeline to loop.
In the video, VTS plays back the first two times that the time line loops and then goes silent, and you see its play position looping. After I stop the transport and press play, playback happens only the first time.
@dwrae Could you please add a mode in which the selected note will sound (as in melodyne)? This would allow for faster correction.
Missed the better price.
Can this be used with any app.
Like shoom etc.
Or is it defined sounds like voice or guitar.
and not re-pitching audio with modulation like lfos, gates etc?
That's not so easy to add, but it is planned.
It can be used within every app that supports AUv3 effects and is intended to be used on vocals. On single-note non-processed mono guitar playing, it might work. I have no idea where LFO's gates etc. come into this equation.
Thanks. Yesterday I could reproduce that it doesn't loop at all in Loopy (that was a fun sentence! ). I am surprised it looped at all in your case. Anyway, I need to hook it up to the debugger to see what actually happens in term of timestamps and the looping host variable.
When you tried in loopy, did you add the clip to the timeline and set the timeline to loop?
VTS’ play bar loops for when set up this way.
I am using a beta version of the app.
Hi - I get the same problem in NS2 and this doesn’t fix it. Before I ping and bother the support address I’m just wondering if anyone has had any success with it in NS2 and thus it would point at my own setup? I have it as an insert fx on an AudioLayer track loaded with a vocal sample.
Many thanks 🙏
You will get me at support anyway, so there is not really a difference.
Which storage folder did you select?
the folder is now on my iPad, before it was on iCloud Drive
The app checks on that, strange that you managed to get through the dialog. In any case, please don't select iCloud drive.
No, I basically have no idea what I'm doing in there since it's the first time I'm using it, sorry.
I now selected the timeline and got the clip on there, but I see no option to loop the timeline.
I’ll make a quick video for you showing how to set it up and post in a bit.
Thanks!
here you go. hopefully this is clear.
@dwrae The second time there was such a problem in Cubasis: after closing the project and opening it after a while, the vocal track "shifted" on the timeline and started playing earlier than necessary, in addition, the vocal pitch changed. That is, the plug-in is still unstable.
The only way to avoid this is to freeze the track immediately after correction, but this is a bad option, since it often happens that you need to adjust the settings later. In general, I decided to stop using the plug-in until it starts working more stably.
I tried a couple of folders I created specifically for the purpose: both are on my device’s drive (not iCloud) - the first folder is standalone at the root level on my device; the 2nd was within NS2’s defined folder structure: ie “NanoStudio2/Library/Audio/Inbox/_VocalTuneStudio“
Sorry about this - any help is greatly appreciated. I am currently working around it by bouncing the vocals out, loading them in VTS standalone, faffing about and then exporting the audio from VTS and reloading the corrected audio file into AudioLayer. Not the end of the world but it would be handier if I could do it in the auv3 so I can preview the changes with the accompanying audio playing 👍
Cheers.
I tried doing this and LP crashes as soon as it gets to the end of the loop for the first time.
This is on the latest LP beta though.
Can you please send an email to [email protected] and please check if there is a crash and/or VTSlog.txt file inside the VocalTuneStudio folder that was automatically created?
Ok - will do. Thank you for your help 👍😊
Thank you so much for this video! It should be fixed now.
@artem
Please send an email to [email protected] and let me know the steps to reproduce the issue.
Please do. May I ask a silly question? I just started NanoStudio2 and can't find out how to record or import audio. Is this not possible and if not, may I ask how you want to use Vocal Tune Studio in it?
Apologies - I’ve not sent the email yet (life getting in the way). I have the audio loaded as a vocal sample in AudioLayer auv3 sampler. Then I have inserted VTS as an insert fx on its (ie AudioLayer’s) track.
An alternative is you could load the vocal sample into NS2’s Slate sample player instead of AudioLayer.
Another alternative is to load 4Pockets’ Multitrack Studio Auv3 fx at the top of the insert fx list on a track and load the audio into that - then it naturally passes through any insert fx loaded after it in the fx chain.
Hope that clarifies?
Cheers 👍😊
Absolutely, thanks. I just hope that the AU witin a AU thing is not causing the issue somehow. In any case, please don't select a folder within another app. For testing, you could just select the VocalTuneStudio folder that is auto-created (which is the folder where the standalone version writes to).
