AudioShare bugs (fixed!)

  • Yes, background playback issue found and fixed for coming update. It was iOS that suddenly started calling a method that wasn’t called before on app background.

The navigation bar button mess I’m still trying to figure out.

  • A workaround for the disappearing return arrow:

The gesture to go back in a navigation view is that you drag from the edge of the screen and inwards. So enter a folder, then put finger just outside the left screen edge and drag to the right.

    Thanks to @j_liljedahl !

  • Updated, and all seems well! Thank you thank you @j_liljedahl !

    Good to hear! :+1:

  • When playing a file list in the background, the songs don’t auto advance now, after the update. @j_liljedahl

    Confirmed, @j_liljedahl

Yep, will look into it! You fix some you break some… :)

The audio symbols in the upper right corner also vanish after playing the current song.

Could you explain this, which audio symbols?

  • AudioShare updated, playlists fixed. Thanks so much!!

@j_liljedahl The rename function does not work as expected since the last update.

You can no longer place the cursor exactly between two characters without problems. A string is always marked first.

At the moment I help myself renaming via the files app

    I cannot confirm this.
    Works totally fine.

The whole string is preselected for when you want a totally new name.
Just double-tap first and you can position the cursor.

As always with iOS / iPadOS, you may need to use the long-press function to fine-tune the position (I hate that)

This is correct for filenames that are not longer than the input field.

However, if the filenames are longer, you cannot position the cursor directly. First a string is always marked. After that you can place the cursor without problems.

Thanks for the effort. That is exactly what I am saying.

This is very annoying when you want to rename many files. However, I help myself with the Files app. There it works as desired.

However, there are enough apps that react differently to rename, e.g. Files or Documents. There you can set the cursor IMMEDIATELY to the desired position.

The Files App just offers a rename window that is large enough, as it seems. And it does not preselect, as to more easy allow for a complete renaming (not some small change).

But I think that many other forms have the same "problem" as AudioShare, for example the Safari URL tab.

It also preselects the whole string and you need to double-tap first and after that position your cursor.

Yeah, I haven't noticed when/if this changed, but if it did it's something internal to iOS because I haven't touched that code for more than two years. I often find selecting and placing cursor very fiddly in many iOS apps, for example the Safari URL tab as you say..

  • @j_liljedahl Im having a problem: since lastest update the screen orientation is not changing anymore in my iphone (6s), its really a problem for me since I`m using attached lightning microphones and I need to use the iphone upside down for recording....
    Anyone can confirm the bug??

ps. posted in the main audioshre thread too, just realized this would be better....

  • Confirmed.
    iPhone 7, iOS 16.7.7, Audioshare 2.7.12 (143).
    AUM rotates as expected.

Are you saying AUM rotates to upside-down but AudioShare does not? I don't know about iPhone 7, but most modern iPhones don't support upside-down orientation. Apple removed that for some reason, maybe for models that has the notch?

And, since it's not physically supported on modern iPhones, I think a better solution would be a user toggle in the Recording view that rotates the recorder upside-down.

Yes AUM working fine here too.
an user toggle would be a solution for modern phones if they don’t support automatic screen orientation, but please “reactivate” the old behavior for old devices, I change the orientation a lot based on position when recording

That’s correct. AUM and other apps rotate to upside down on the iPhone 7. AudioShare doesn’t.

I've never "deactivated" that behaviour. The settings still says it supports portrait and upside-down portrait.

Ok, it seems recent iOS added a new delegate method to UISplitViewController to return the allowed orientations. AudioShare uses a splitviewcontroller, but AUM does not, so that explains it. I'll fix this for the next update, but not that it only works on iPhone models without the notch, since those devices do not support upside-down orientation.

  • @j_liljedahl, I’m getting a bug (iPadOS 17.1, AudioShare 2.7.12) where the waveform preview disappears when selecting a new file after playing a lot of files (AUM recordings, default settings) immediately before. Quitting and reopening restores it.

Yeah - this has been a bug since iOS 14.

I think the dev said he is not sure what it is or how to replicate it to do testing. And it only happens for some people (like me).

    A tough one to fix...

Yes, it randomly happens for me too, since a few years.

@j_liljedahl , Any news about the update? It’s very difficult, almost impossible to record upside down when using the zoom iQ7 or. when putting the iPhone in the piano stand with the lightning cable connected
