You guys are killing me with these great “investments”. All I’ve got are the following:

This one was a total “waist” of money since the sizes are way off. I have used the material for one decent stage outfit. NO PHOTO REQUESTS: I’m saving that for my album release called “McD Does Disney - a tribute to the Music of the Disney Princesses”.
My “Someday My Prince Will Come” version will tear your ears out. The lyrics are actually
“Not Safe for Work” if you get the double entendre that Larry Morey slipped past the censors of 1937. He also wrote the sex worker anthems “High Hoe” and “Whistle While You Work”. With the right medicines, “Snow White” is a soft care porn classic.
How many kid’s movies have the female lead shack up with 7 single, horny dwarves.

I’d take the hydra over the minifreak any day of the week.

I’d take the Moog One over the Hydra any day of the week.

    :p

I think the Hydra worth 2x or 3x the cost of the Microfreak (at least, in Canada).

Currently designing overlays for the Novation LC XL, some are going to be for
the synths, effects processors and mega projects that I’ve been designing in dRambo
and I’ve recently got a Crave and we’re prototyping a stand and overlay for it, more on that note later.
Next week we’re going to be testing 3M vinyl and varnished wood.

The photo shows a cerulean and viridian mix, ignore the material as it’s for test purposes only.

A second hand ES2 which I’ve installed the Hacktribe firmware on.

Interesting. What does the hack tribe firmware do?

It’s pretty cool. Adds the oscillators and filters from the synth version plus some new groove templates and scales. Adds sampling to the synth version.

    https://github.com/bangcorrupt/hacktribe

    Thanks. Looks very interesting.

Ahh yes,..the Crave with test overlay.

Got this beast for a steal off reverb. Comes in the mail Tuesday. I wasn't planning to get it specifically but I couldn't say no. If I don't jive with it I'm certain I can resell and come out even.

Good to know not everything on Reverb is ridiculously over priced

You can find good stuff but its not super common. I have a desk job so I check time to time and sometimes a good price comes up.

Finally pulled the trigger on my dream mixer (Rane MP2015)! It’s actually class compliant and works as an audio & midi interface for my iPad Pro also!

he was talking about minifreak not microcrofreak.. minifreak is approximately same price as hydrasynth explorer … i would also pick hydrasynth before minifreak without hesitation

  • How are you folks making your overlays?

  • @mtenk Haha. I’m finally without a girl in my life so no one can stop me. Not sure what’s next but maybe the Softpop2? Anyways the Matriarch is such a great synth. I’m sure you love yours as much as I do mine?

  • Not the most exciting purchase but for $79 this all-black Minilab MK2 is a sturdy little controller with the right footprint and number of knobs for what I needed. :)

It really depends on how deep you want to go versus workflow. But both are excellent synths.

TOORO is a brilliant compact synth.

@thatguysmitty "whew" you made me start to panic with your beautiful machine. I tend to sweat when I spend anything over $200 on any one thing.

SO @McD when will we "eventually" see you perform in your too tight dress - lol

Been waiting for too long and finally got the Digitone Keys I was eyeing at for quite a while 😄

A typical case of "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts".
That little steel tank is incredibly heavy, it has additional quick access FM knobs that aren't available in the original Digitone and a good keyboard with aftertouch plus solid PB and Mod wheels. I haven't used the individual outputs yet but my stompboxes are already waiting for a job 😁

The sequencer is not too bad either and MIDI clock sync and MIDI control with Drambo works well so I'm having some fun already.

I was surprised that unlike on my Digitakt, the MIDI tracks are 8-voice polyphonic each. Love it.
Bluetooth MIDI dongles work great with the tank too.

My most recent hardware purchase is this iRig Keys I/O 49. I found it for a great price on eBay and couldn’t resist. I wanted something that was portable and could be powered by my iPad for quick gigs and couch jamming. It’s got a built in audio interface so I can just plug in and GOOOOO!

The hardware is a bit cheap feeling and the keys are a little clacky but, it does the job that I need it to do.

It is the most compact option with 49 full-size keys that I am aware of (27.30 inches wide, weighs less than 5 lbs.). I bought mine used too. The semi-weighted action is sufficient for me. I don't like the proprietary MIDI port, but otherwise, it is great for my needs.

  • I don't know why Akai discontinued the wireless version of this controller. It is very convenient with an iPad. I got mine used on Reverb in March.

  • @audiblevideo yep. I got one also. Love it to pieces. Fred’s the man.

Welcome to the big spender club. 😁 I bought a couple guitar pick. Like this one.

Hydrasynth Explorer bought it right before they announce the Minifreak and before they cut the prices $100 - lol

Still love it. Everything I’ve wanted in an affordably priced hardware synth.

I miss my Hydra sometimes. I’m eyeing the Minifreak now but the Hydra did sound beautiful. I only sold mine because I ended up not gelling with the desktop variant. Planned on buying another but ended up with a Summit instead. Now I don’t have either 😂

As long as it adds value to you, who cares about exciting. That’s a good deal!

My most recent is the iRig Keys Pro and I love it as well. Went with it because of the added headphone port. It has the same key action and it feels great for my needs.

  • @HotStrange i think you'll be ok with the Summit. I've heard it - tis beautiful.
