See how it plays back the loop from halfway? I just want it to play back from the start!

I'm not sure what happened before this point re: thread conversation but this does seem like a bug. Not sure why anyone would want it to do that so I'd ask the question if it will be fixed. It really should be IMO.

  • OK so Molliloop is always recording. My question is, where do these files get saved and can they be eventually removed to free up storage?

  • I might be wrong but I don't think they get saved at all, it just records an 8 bar buffer which does not save when u close an instance of the app etc

Thank you, yes it seems like a bug to me!

Can you do this kind of quantized looping with glitchcore? Maybe I haven't explored it enough? It's another one mind you that doesn't state save properly (doesn't remember for example when you open an aum session it was saved in that you had left it in sequencer mode, for example). I haven't used it a lot, I must admit.

Not sure about the quantized bit, but it does have a live sequence section that can pick set parts of the incoming audio, or you can ‘freeze’ the audio, and scrub it with the x/y pad for stuttered repeats.

Yep a lot of stuff already does most of this. The only difference being that Mollilooper is also a live retrospective looper.

I also noticed today that it works better in Drambo than AUM. You can start/stop the transport and it will still always work perfectly whereas in AUM it was going out of sync for me.

GlitchCore works with live, incoming audio too - it doesn’t look as easy to tame as this app though - I never got that much use from it as it tends to be a bit wild!

    Might get this one later.

Yeah those features of glitchcore I'm aware of. I think many people would prefer mollilooper to be honest - though I'm still keen to hear whether I'm the only one having stability issues running 3 or 4 instances and reloading those saved aum sessions.

GlitchCore and MolliLooper are quite different- but they do compliment one another. MolliLooper will loop and filter segments of a varying and chosen length repeatedly whereas GlitchCore is used more for completely rearranging 1/16th segments - though it does have a looping option it’s more aimed at glitchieness. Try just drawing random shapes on the grid on GlitchCore until you find something you like. You can also omit segments by tapping on them.

  • I’ve been really heavily playing around with this app and man I’m enjoying it so much. Tons of fun. Made a couple of tracks in AUM with multiple instances already. I knew I’d like it but I’m surprised how quickly it shot up into my favorite recent purchases list. You can do some really cool stuff once you start digging around. Pairs great with Noises.

  • It does indeed pair great with noises! I had a great session going last night with 4 instances of mollilooper looping various parts of a noises session - until they all crashed suddenly and immediately 🤷‍♂️ > @HotStrange said:

  • I think a hard reset has hopefully fixed my stability issues here, been running 4 instances fine here for a while and able to open the aum session no problem.

Would be handy if there was an option for saving state of the buffer

Agreed. There’s a few great suggestions in the thread that I think could really make this app something even more special.

I haven’t had any issues this far thankfully but will definitely report if I do. I’ve been having lots of fun snapping the loops on and off the grid and scrubbing around while running them through effects. It’s also fun to have 2 instances in a row and add/remove them back into the track to switch between 2 loops easier.

  • Off to watch the video because I’m not really sure how to use this in a way that’s useful to me. It’s sort of fun but kind of limited - I think there is something I’m not getting. Perhaps I’m one of the few that still uses glitchcore and likes it. I also use Loopy Pro for infinite overdub, but MolliLooper seems to be scratching a different itch with the ABF.

  • Anyone know how to map this to a midi controller and have it function like it does when you tap the buttons on the app? I am trying to create buttons in loopy pro to control it and I can’t get it to work right. I’ve tried to use toggle and enable/disable, it only wants to start a new loop. I can get it to have the same loop point and increase the step speed but I can’t go back and forth like on the plug-in itself it gets “stuck” at the last loop section, it won’t change. Or I can get it to change loop lengths but it starts at a different point every time I try to change the speed.

  • Can the captured loop be exported from the plugin?

  • No it cannot

    That's a shame. Thanks!

  • Pitch shifting would be nice…

  • @legsmechanical said:

No but you can easily record the loop from the AUM channel into AudioShare

  • I had written this off but it looks really cool. I’ve been waiting for something like cubasis spin fx on iPhone for a while. Will be good for live performance on the master channel in something like loopy pro or aum.

That and a reverse option would make this an 11/10 for me lol. As it stands, it’s still great.

  • Pitch shifting would be nice but you can always use tone boosters voice pitcher after an instance of this as a workaround, and the quality will be a lot better than what Mollilabs could afford to put in a 5 dollar app

Yes, but to repeat previous arguments given to me for buying Noises, it’s good to have everything in one app rather than jumping around between two apps, and having repeat and pitch controls on the same x/y pad, similar to Koala (also a 5 dollar app), would actually provide more functionality in one app, than splitting it across two.

Anyway, just thinking aloud, as it’s something that would appeal to me. It can almost be done with Koala fx, as that has repeat and pitch shifting options, but obviously lacking the important audio input visuals MolliLooper has.

Still interested in this one though.

Or 4Pockets "Neon" or "MultiTrack Recorder".

It’s not a looper like loopy pro or Enso. Its not meant for looping audio. It’s a looper effect that derives it’s functionality from glitching up and filtering a captured loop. You catch it - you glitch it and filter it then you move on and your ‘loop’ is never heard again (unless you are recording it all for your DAW or Blocs Wave to arrange later). Its a live effect. I’ve had no problems with it at all.

This saved me five bucks. Thank you for this description. Sounds cool, just not something I’d likely use. “Ephemeral looper”?

The 4Pockets apps are inexpensive and easy to learn.

Loopy Pro is not hard to learn, fwiw.

  • Can you completely bypass the filter?

Yea only if you record the output into something will that audio be recorded is my understanding.

  • It’s really fun and useful for stutters or adding fills to drums, but I think it could use a few features to really make it something special.

Didn't he already say earlier in this thread that saving the audio so it can be recovered when the host reloads a project is on todo list?

Possibly if so I missed it. Thanks for letting me know,
