  • First impressions - even 12.9" screen seems to be a bit too small for this app

No aliases? That's a very odd and significant omission especially for EDM production.

Yes, I mentioned NS2 earlier but of course Xequence 2 is one of the other places where we can do this today  It is an odd one to leave out but I guess Apple need to keep some of the goodies back so that people think they are getting “new” features every now and again to justify the ongoing subscription.

Maybe -- but I guess there are other features which are more suitable for this because of their "Wow factor". They could've left out all that strange stuff that I don't even know what it means 😂 (Flex Pitch, AUv3... 😉)

  • I will try importing a desktop project with aliases and see what happens - I'm going to assume they show up, but there's no UI to create new ones.

Seriously though - despite the handful of missing things, what is there is incredible. It's hard to describe how full featured it is. We're focusing a lot on what's not there, but seriously, what is there is really, really, really, really good. I'm already getting lost in Sample Alchemy and the ease of actually creating music is spot on - it is incredibly fun to use and there's enough depth here between instruments, effects, routing, mixer, etc etc that it doesn't feel limiting at all.

  • I'm on a 12.9 iPad and I have room to stretch out a bit. Let me try my Mini and report back.

If you get a chance, please post a video or whatever you create first as far as audio or a song file goes.

    Will do!

  • From the manual on Flex Time:

Importing Logic Pro projects with Flex Time and Flex Pitch
You can import Logic Pro for Mac projects that contain Flex Time and Flex Pitch edits. Logic Pro for iPad will play back those edits, but you can’t edit the flex markers. However, in the Track inspector, you can choose different Flex Time parameters that might improve the sonic results.

Yes! Also, can you resize the LP UI to fit your monitor? (I am under the impression this is not possible.)

    Good find!

Alchemy appears to be limited in the amount of editing you can do :( But minor detail. Still a ton of controls.

Seems to be a rompler with no real patch creation or editing. That’s a shame. :-/

Hopefully all our Mac Alchemy patches will work on it?

    Only basic parameters.

  • Crashtastic!
Some plugins need to be updated, but loving Logic on my iPad 😍

  • I could never gel with the iOS garage band interface — too clunky for me. But they seemed to have nailed the UI on iPad Logic. Very streamlined!

  • on iPad Pro 12`9 looks like…

    👍

  • The UI is the best thing. I never loved Logic's UI (and preferred Ableton for quick access to my chains) - the solve with the plugin tiles is really nice.

Do you know if there is a Plugin Manager screen, just like on desktop? And will LP on iPad identify problem plugins so you can disable them?

Ah bummer, Rozeta plugins from @brambos will not load in a MIDI FX slot, just an instrument slot.

What does that mean in practical terms? Can they still be used to send midi to other instruments?

    You can resize the UI.

Oh, fantastic. Gee, now I'm beginning to wonder if this will be able to replace Logic Pro on macOS for a large percentage of users?

Only 693mb for the base install, that's good...

Thanks for the link..Got it..I wonder why it’s lighter than GB at only 6.3 meg vs 1.3 gig for GB?

I haven't found a method to do that sort of MIDI routing. I suppose you could record into a MIDI region and then copy the MIDI to an instrument track, but obviously that's an inefficient workflow. I suppose the "live" method would be to route MIDI out of AUM into Logic and run the Rozeta plugins in AUM. Also not particularly smooth.
