thesoundtestroomUS video for Werkbench, Full Tutorial
Colin has done a brilliant tutorial for Werkbench covering everything you need to know about this great app

There's also a cool little built in glitch/repeater type of thing (not sure how to call it) when you press/ hold or slide along the werkbench letters.
One of the coolest most unique and fun to use apps ever, I love it. Even the limited iPhone version is plenty fun.
Oh, man, you're the big one.
This app is awesome, one of my favourites. Thanks!
Thanks for the show Colin. I think this is one that the casual gentleman (looks at self) will get a lot out of.
@fjcblanco Oh, man, you're the big one. I LOVE this. I will be wandering around the hipster bars of South Austin tonight saying this to random strangers...might even try it to passing fellow swimmers at Barton Springs. (http://www.texasoutside.com/bartonpool.htm)
I don't know english enough, so I don't know if I'm missing something...maybe "big one" means another thing (I hope it doesn't).
Probably want to avoid it in certain settings.
@fjcblanco Believe me sir your English is a thousand times what my version of your native language would ever be and I meant you no disrespect. I do love that phrase. It is a far more poetic version of the American You're the man! (which seems especially to apply to -male- golfers).
What a great app.
Cool app. Great video.
Yeah, really nice work Colin. Perfectly explained the app.
Enjoyed that one Colin. Great walk through.!
The developer dude is really talented at playing the app. I love the treasurecharger videos that he made for werkbench, particularly the downtempo one and the one where he features the scales. Learning Jasuto was my 4th of july challenge. Now I get to labor my way through the labor day holiday seeing what I can do with werkbench.
That is unreasonably good (and it's also a very large glass of vodka).
Thanks everybody, still feel like I'm learning how to do these properly so I really appreciate the kind words.
@firejan82, I can't believe I forgot to mention that! That's the kind of insider information I need to remember for these videos. Great tip!
I still haven't forgiven them for replacing the pretty steam punk interface that I bought it for in the 1st place. They did say they would provide a skin option but it never happened.
@CSswim yeah, I only found out by watching those treasurecharger WerkBench performances on YouTube. I had WerkBench maybe for about a year without knowing about that glitch thing.
How did I not realize workbench was multitouch?
How did I not realize WerkBench was a thing?
I had not even heard of it until it was mentioned in a thread earlier this month.
I didn't realize it was multitouch either. Had this app forever too. Thanks Colin
And, despite Colin masterclass, you miss the best demo, imho:
That's my favorite demo @fjcblanco. My good friend and former poker buddy @SammyJams has some great videos on YouTube too.
Pretty impressive stuff. Think I'm going to have to get me some of those fingerless gloves.
does workbench import audio from your iTunes library?
is there no way to save more than one set/project/song?
i see where you can save but i don't see where you can name anything?
@kobamoto, you could probably add to its itunes file sharing list, (the 'open file' button in the importer, also where it saves it's exports) with a desktop, but otherwise you could copy from your itunes library into Audioshare and then paste it into Werkbench. You can trim it inside of AS, or use the zoom in WB to find the piece you like.
As for saving, you can save tons of projects, but as I said in the video, I'd definitely save a blank set to have a clean slate to start at when you want to. I have no idea how to rename them, I swear it used to give you a field to type as I have lots projects with my own names but I haven't saved anything in a while. I don't know what happened to that, might want to email the developer.
I emailed him back in july about the naming and one other thing. He said it's a bug that needs to be fixed.

I saw it mentioned some time ago, but it was one of those early AudioBus apps that didn't get updated too frequently, and so it didn't generate new interest with features it was missing before (the kind of stuff that will get posted in a thread here). The fact is, it already had a ton of great features that we tend to beg for in newer apps.
I just picked it up because of this thread - I find it very impressive! Most of the features are contained in other apps, but as a sampler with .wav file import, it could be a beatbox or even a pretty compelling bassline generator. It has scale-based pitch control, which is actually somewhat rare. I could see a ton of uses for this thing.
thanks for all your responses, ok so you can't rename cause of a bug but you can save multiple projects… may i ask what are the steps for this, at this point I can wait for the bug to be fixed but if I could just save all of the projects I'd be good right now?
Do you mean saving a full set? - as in all of the 8 (4left+4right) banks - if so, just save it as a full set instead of a loop and then when you're loading, go Load Loops>swith to Sets(it's on Individual Loops by default) to see the list of your saved sets
Workbench would make for a fun contest. Perhaps with the limitation that you can only sample sounds from a single free synth app.
Great video. One of those apps I thought I would use more. Time to dig into it again
