Yeah, an unwise idea for sure. The obvious workaround would have been to just have a statement when you open the app saying 'currently only plays presets as an auv3 but full auv3 functionality is scheduled for xxxx date'. Better yet would have been to just bloody wait until auv3 was properly implemented before saying' added auv3 support' 🤷‍♂️

Ah... I got you now, thnx. She mentioned controls view without even mentioning she was talking about Logic, I was just trying to get the damn thing working in aum. Well spotted that the presets are exposed, cheers Nino. Yeah they really should mention clearly on the app store page that this is not remotely, yet, a full auv3 implementation, otherwise they're just begging for a ton of refunds

That ship has partially sailed, I'm afraid. Every post about it leads with the "auv3 support" marketing slogan, and a lot of people don't read descriptions. I suspect this will come back to haunt them (even though the app looks good and the demo sounds good)

This synth was difficult to resist buying, but I'm glad I didn't purchase it yet. Its AUv3 currently being a preset player isn't what I was looking for out of this particular app. 😆

Tbh, having just had a quick flick through the presets I'm not very impressed. There's just something cheap sounding about it to my ears. Maybe a bit more playing around will change my mind but first impression is pretty meh

The auv3 has no UI. Just a placeholder logo basically. In what way is this auv3 support? I don't get it, asked the devs about hit bit did not get a coherent response.

    I did ask about this

    What are the 3 platforms?

Logic Pro, Cubasis 3 and AUM

DAWs are platforms? That’s not a standard interpretation of that term. “Three platforms” would be iOS, iPadOS and macOS, no?

No, you’re correct but my assumption is that the dev meant three separate DAW’s based on the conversation

I just tried the beta and was not impressed at all.

For one example, an lfo, set to a sine wave, should be a continuous sine wave, not “sine_flat_sine_flat_sine_flat”…

We already have synths on iPadOS that are waaaaay better than this. Save your money guys!

  • Thank you, self-help team, time and money saved again. 👊🙂👍

  • You cannot be told what the Matrix is…you must experience it for yourself…😂🤣😂

  • I still can’t get it to show up in any host even after multiple restarts. Not even as a preset player.

After messing with the beta for a few hours, I had multiple crashes (sent to dev) and freezes as well. Also not very impressed with the sound. As mentioned it sounds very thin and all of the oscillators sound like they were recorded from an old Casio. The LFO and mod matrix implementation is also a bit wonky and doesn’t behave like it should. Adding 1% modulation to osc pitch already puts it into non musical territory so not good for vibrato. Overall not pleased in its current form. Certainly not for $30. I’ll keep an eye on the updates and continue the beta to sus out some bugs, but definitely don’t buy right now.

Oh yeah? I’ll have to shoot them an email. I definitely need to try it as an AU before I spend this amount of money.

Then again, "thin sounds that sound like they were recorded from an old Casio" is the perfect aesthetic for Lofi, but I can achieve that effect with Obsidian/ES2, an EQ, and a bit reduction plugin. Or even better, since I have BA-1, I can simply use that.

Yeah, that's not a good look for Qithesizer. 😣

I'm probably not even going to bother with the beta. Looks like an amazing plugin otherwise, but with the current state of it, and with new and better synth plugins on the horizon and Baby Audio releasing a set of OG plugins soon, I think I'm going to save that $30.

I’d do the same. I’m gonna keep the beta just to see where it goes because there definitely is a lot of potential. But I think not having a breath controller is kind of an Achilles heel here.

As far as lofi, it could definitely be good for that, but even then it’s still almost too thin sometimes. Something like the SK-51 does that way better, imo. This could be a really cool app though so I guess we’ll see 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’d much rather spend the money on the baby audio stuff as it is. Especially the VHS effect.

Yeah those oscillators sound bad to me, considering this is marketing itself as a physical modeling synth. Luckily I was sent a promo copy but I won't waste my time or that of viewers by reviewing this as it stands.

Keyboard has no hold function but you also can't tweak any controls while holding a note, which makes it a nightmare to program. Sequencer always has key sync turned on, can't be turned off. A few of the presets sound nice, but if you're paying 30 dollars for a physical modeling synth, generally you would expect it to be capable of some pretty realistic sounds, this isn't. The list of oscillators is massive but the scrolling list does not remember where it was last selected so you have to scroll through the entire massive list every time you want to reach an oscillator type near the end. No forwards and backwards buttons to scroll the oscillator list either. A proper submenus section would have been a good way to organise them. Inbuilt keyboard has no vertical velocity responsiveness and when it is enlarged to a usable size, you have no access to about 50% of the UI.

Overall, mediocre to downright bad design, mediocre to downright bad sound, misleading launch info regarding auv3, totally overpriced. A very easy pass. Sorry to he harsh but my loyalty always lies with users rather than devs.

I agree with every point you made. The oscillator selection and not being able to tweak while holding a note should be VERY obvious inclusions and the fact that they weren’t makes me skeptical about whether the dev(s) really even care about the product. Lots of weird omissions or things that just don’t work how they should/how you would expect for a synth.

Also I found the physical modeling aspect very weak. Sometimes barely noticeable in the mix without turning the other oscillators way down, and once you do you realize the engine just isn’t that good to begin with.

I do see potential here. I’d love more physical modeling on iOS, which I think we both agree on. But it needs A LOT of work to get to a place where it’s worth $30. For the lofi oscillator sounds it comes with, you’d be better off using sk51 through TB Dual Filter or something.

Well, they never said in the app description that the auv3 is only a preset player, unless that's been updated now. Otherwise, people would look at the screenshots and expect that they're going to see that in the auv3. I've never come across an app that was a full fledged synth standalone but only a preset player in auv3 form. Have you?

Well, they never said in the app description that the auv3 is only a preset player, unless that's been updated now. Otherwise, people would look at the screenshots and expect that they're going to see that in the auv3. I've never come across an app that was a full fledged synth standalone but only a preset player in auv3 form. Have you?

No, I’ve never heard of such a thing either. Is this a new developer? Maybe this is their first try?

Absolutely their first go at iOS. They’re learning as they go

I still can’t get it to show up in any host even after multiple restarts.

Did you email them for a code to unlock AUv3? They’re practically giving this plugin away! Like 40 of our Facebook members got it for free last night

Why would you want something for free if it doesn't even work properly?

To help them develop it and bring it to iOS standards

Exactly. I wanna see it succeed because I think it has potential but it needs some serious work.

  • Guys, I'm one of the Qithesizer developer. I really appreciate your feedbacks, these will definitely help us improve it and make it a better synth.

Sorry for the misleading AUv3 description. We've released a new version yesterday with AUv3 user interface support and 4 more mod slots.

Just let me know your feedback and even complaints, that's what I think the key to make things better. We also prepared a box-of-gift to give away for more valuable feedbacks.

Hey thanks for stopping by! I think the app has so much potential but is far from perfect as is. Really love the idea of it though and some of the presets are great! Been testing the beta and sending any crashes I have to help make it the best app it can be! Looking forward to seeing the progress 🙏
