Really love what @oscarsh aka team@RobKoo is doing these days. Now that a sample module is on the way to Q (Qithesizer), my final wish is that you guys would add a looper/tape module.

There are a few synth apps with sequencers but one underrated iOS/ipad synth called Voice Synth has built in tape tracks. I think it’s a 4 track tape which is plenty. Even a one track would be magical as the overdubbing like GAUSS by Brambos would allow us to layer many different melodies, chords runs with different patches to create some really magical textures, ambient and evolving songs with windstruments without ever needing to fire up some clumsy DAW or Looper.

Q would be the first Wind Synth Workstation. You guys could add it as a paid upgrade or IAP and I’d pay whatever lol.

Please mention this to the team @oscarsh with reference to the apps Voice Synth, GAUSS and the latest all windstrument album by the Legendary Andre 3000 for why this is a great idea in this moment. The whole EWI community has been expanding exponentially but 2024 will be an explosion when synth nerds and others realize the most expressive synths and midi controllers have been around long before MpE. There isn’t a MPE controller in the world that can hold a candle to a EWI like RobKoo R1, Aerophone, Nurad, etc….

    Not even close.

Here is a link to Voice Synth by Qneo which already has a tape module built in:

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/voice-synth/id490511069

Here is a link to GAUSS Field looper by Brambos which works like one tape track but has some pretty simple features that add to its ability to capture deep expression:

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/gauss-field-looper/id1530684073

Finally, here is the Legendary Andre 3k’s latest all wind album New Blue Sun:

    https://music.apple.com/us/album/new-blue-sun/1716101993

While he used a few wooden flutes and hasn’t specified which EWI he used, Andre 3K did say there was one EWI in particular responsible for most of the sounds on the album and that there was very little added in terms of extra processing after the fact. Mostly just organic playing while running through patches. He said he didn’t even know how to use all of the features just pulled it out of the box and started playing/recording the album. For me, that is clearly an AE-20 or 30 he is describing. I’d bet money on it. If not, it is Akais Solo. Ive owned both and the Roland is light years better.

I digress. Just really excited to see the EWI community expanding so robustly. The last 5 years has been great and now it appears we are heading into a Golden Era.

When one of the most legendary rap artists of all time (Dre 3K from Outkast) starts making full wind albums without need for vocals it’s clearly a sign of extraordinary things to come.

Hey Captain, yes I like the album and think this is exciting, he will turn a lot of people on to wind controllers. I don't get much hardware gas but I must admit I'd quite like a wind controller! Btw, you were @ing the wrong person there, you meant to @ @oscarsh 🙏

    Oooof!!! Thanks @Gavinski 🙏🏽

Sorry @OscarSouth hope all is well!

@oscarsh that novel i wrote up there was meant for you and team @RobKoo

    *edit: Fixed it.

@Gavinski you have to join the fun! Once you experience a good wind synth/controller it’s hard to resist. Even for those without any prior experience.

Cheap entry would be a second hand Akai Ewi USB like @McD has. That’s more than enough to get going with really getting the best out of Qithesizer, Respiro, Mela 4, Zeeon, etc using breath control. There are others on Amazon, even a few under $99 that look cool but I can’t vouch for those.

Still, nothing beats the expression of the bigger boys like Aerophone Pro models, R1 from RobKoo, Akai Solo, etc.

Aerophones imo are the best value. Full audio/midi interface, Bluetooth audio/midi, 5 pin midi (ae30), built in Zencore, SuperNatural synth engines, tons of Legendary Roland Fx including Juno Chorus, full synth editing via iPhone/ipad, librarian, free lesson apps…the value is endless. I use my Aerophone as my main audio interface, midi controller, synth AND control surface at the same time. I still haven’t scratched the surface of what’s possible with this magical wand yet!

One device to rule them all.

Thanks haha. Thing is - are they hard to play? What I REAALLY want, to be honest, is just a good voice to midi solution that will allow me to convert my voice quickly into a way to play synths. I know there are some YouTube vids knocking around related to doing that on desktop but I don’t think we have a way to do that on iOS yet.

  • @CapnWillie that 3 Stacks album is pure bliss! I loved it and was stoked to see him using some wind controllers on it. The interview he did with GQ was wonderful.

Indeed. Refreshing to see someone who has accomplished so much be so real, honest and vulnerable. This is why he’s always been one of my chief creative inspirations growing up.

That he shares such a niche passion is ironic and motivating. Not surprising though, if you’re a wind player you already know how much big brands have been investing in wind tech.

Looking forward to trying this synth when it gets delivered with the Clarii Mini hopefully in another couple of months. I asked about getting early access as part of the Kickstarter campaign but was denied.

We've decided to provide a free redeem code of Qithesizer for all Clarii mini backers. Thank you for the suggestion, we made it possible.

Awesome! Do you know when the codes will be made available?

I’m not a wind player but have always been interested in a wind controller. It seems like a lot of fun.

Totally agree with you, btw. Seeing someone with that much fame and legacy and influence be so open and down to earth is extremely rare, especially now days. He’s one of my favorite artists of all time for that reason. Even if Outkast never gets back together, I’m just happy he’s back making music again and I’m excited to see where this new chapter takes him.

  • @HotStrange sent you an invite!

    @oscarsh

my Mini arrived! I haven't even charged or plugged in yet. There is no information in the box about redeem code for Qithesizer . Is that coming separately? How does that work?

  • Oscar answered me in the Facebook group. Qithesizer codes for kickstarter backers will be delivered in email

Please pass my compliments to your team @oscarsh

Qithesizer is quickly becoming one of my favorite synths. Keep up the great work!

It’s really beautiful on the eyes and intuitive. Along with Falcon 3 on desktop, Respiro, Zenology and Mela 4 it is my favorite synth to create patches for Roland Aerophone.

Can you guys consider adding the ability to add and play user samples as an additional sound source layer? It will set Qithesizer apart as The Ultimate synth for wind controllers on iPad. Currently Falcon offers this but only on desktop. Qithesizer would be the only one on iPad with sampler, oscillators and physical modeling.

Either way, I’m satisfied with your commitment and development of Qithesizer and look forward to where your team takes it.

Our team is now working on the new sampler module for Qithesizer which allows you to pickup a sample and make some minor manipulations to it, I would like to invite you to join the ealy-bird beta testing program, its now under development.

Yes, for Clarii mini backers, please check your inbox. The redeem codes have been sent via email.
