Speakers is a plugin effect designed to emulate a wide range of loudspeakers and microphones using our state-of-the-art convolution engine.

Shape any sound like it’s being played by an old telephone, radio, or classic cabinet; or shape it like it’s being recorded by a vintage ribbon microphone or even a toy recorder.

Speakers features a freely configurable effects chain, comprising compression, distortion, and filtering, as well as an array of looping background noises for setting the sound in a variety of environments.

Speakers features:

•57 speakers: cabinets, devices, phones, radios, speakers, toys
•42 microphones: condensers, dynamics, phones, ribbons, and more
•18 distortion/degradation algorithms: from carbon mic overdrive to GSM interference
•42 background noises: devices, places, organic, and more

  • This looks quite fun. :) I could possibly make an 8-bar loop of something that sounds 1930s Big Band, bounce it, and then sample it in a more modern-sounding production. Or I could just apply this effect on live Ambient. The background noises will definitely be handy to add to live Ambient.

  • Speakers is absolutely amazing. I have it on the desktop and will be adding it to the iPad when available.

  • Thank god. This is the one I’ve been eagerly awaiting. I can’t count how many times I’ve pestered them on IG about it 😂 gonna have to buy the minute it comes out.

Cool plugin! For those who like and have it, what are your favourite ways to use it? Definitely a great sound design tool. I'd imagine it's highly useful for people doing sound for movies / radio dramas etc

  • Starting to look like they’re going to hold off on delivering Outer Space until last, which is annoying.

  • This one is a beauty for samples and sound design. I guess I will be buying it twice!

  • Very interesting, was wondering when someone might run with this idea in an au format.

  • Here it is on desktop...

    Short promo:

    11 minute overview:

  • Sweet! Looking forward to this. I really like AudioThing and all their plugins. Super useful. All of the. .

  • i love these type of plugins. i have futzbox from mcdsp. super fun to add a little something special to a synth, vocal, gtr etc

  • OuterSpace OuterSpace OuterSpace OuterSpace OuterSpace OuterSpace OuterSpace OuterSpace OuterSpace😩

  • This looks pretty deep!

  • It's got a hell of a lot of mic and speaker emulations. And Audiothing seem to be really really good at emulating hardware.

Outer Space is delayed due to code re-writing for iOS and Linux. It requires a v2 in order to be ported. The original was built on an old framework

  • This looks like it would be super useful in so many situations!

I believe this is also IR based similar to Springs.

Is the same being done on the desktop version?

It's going to be a whole new product on desktop, Linux and iOS, not an update to v1

We have discussed this before, but I really wonder what the ‘whole new product’ is going to look like, as the Outer Space is already such a complete space echo replica. Tell use more Nino, we won’t tell anyone.

  • Ohh, exciting. Love everything about audio things from the utility, the sound, the ui experience, and the design aesthetic. Happy to have these on both desktop and iOS.

  • Even though you could probably achieve the same using an IR loader like Altispace + some fx (tape sim, eq, distorsion, etc…) to have a good, curated selection in a dedicated and clear UI is a lot more enjoyable and quick. I think this is gonna be very useful.

  • Yup, probably instabuy for me

  • What make AudioThing is really different and among the top apps. Will read and heard demos to decide as no instabuy anymore but seems to be a possible buy.

Only your ears can tell you.

  • Has there been an exact release date named. I’m super stoked for this one. Lo-fi-af can kinda get into this territory but this seems so powerful.

  • What happened to the vintage Philips organ kind-of-thing (fx/instrument?), I thought that was going to be released first?

  • My guess is that this will be AudioThings most expensive iPadOS app-release to date :sunglasses:

I just hope miniBit is not too far away...

Philicorda is still being released. It’s almost ready from what I know
