Music lives. Until deaf. Sound remains.
I changed my mind a couple of times because it's a really fun exercice, but here is my final one:
"A bumper sticker changed my life".
Hearing birds. Remembering. Are you there?
Nice. Many entries seem like the first sentence of a novel. But the one’s I like most just leave me to unpack the possibilities and not add more words but consider what these 6 words might contain as clues to a complete story.
Rings unheard. Deaf Soldiers. Shots felt.
Portals—you foolishly entered. I followed.
A winner has been chosen. @McD will make the announcement shortly.
Yay, someone will be waving their hands around soon!
This was not easy but @LinearLineman and I agreed that @Svetlovska has the most compelling entries…
@svetlovska wrote twice
And a second excellent entry arrived:
And finally…
Without rules, we must insist that submitting obligates you to considering accepting the recognition. Both @Linearlineman and I believe @Svetlovska’s music might benefit from this device.
So, if she again refuses the gift… maybe she can vote on the final recipient. DM @Linearlineman with your favorites and a final recipient will be announced.
I’m secretly hoping the recipient is as far from Georgia, USA as possible. I sent a box to Egypt once and it cost as much as Mike paid for this ring at 75% off. But less than retail pricing.
I wonder what these rings are going for on Reverb?
Excellent first sentence… it makes you want to read on. We were looking for a completeness that makes to add additional details from the implied information.
Great choice, congrats @Svetlovska!
Congratulations @Svetlovska !
I didn’t really understand the first entry but loved the other two.
Gosh, I am very flattered! But I would much prefer for the gift to go to a live performer with actual musical skills who can use it as part of their performance. I willingly stand aside and leave it to @LinearLineman and @McD to pick an actual musician/performer to benefit from this very generous gift.
Thanks all for the fun of this excellent comp. It’s not the winning but the taking part, etcetera…
And congrats from me, too, @Svetlovska !
To be honest I would urge you to accept as I agree with them that this would suit your music really well. Not sure that level of traditional musicianship would make one iota of difference to how well someone could use it.
I do not: want that ring
A story about two old men, who, would not take no for an answer.🤪😂
I’ll wait a bit to see if @Svetlovska changes her mind.
He said. She said. Liars both.
is my favorite twenty-first century poem.
Seriously.
Thank you for that giveaway, it was a fun exercise!
I concur!
A winner is chosen, everyone waits…
Haha, this was really fun! I vote that all future forum posts have a 6 word limit. Would save a lot of time and would give the rage posters a chance to calm down while formulating what they say.
I also think Svetlovska should take the ring, you don't need to be some high level technical virtuoso to benefit from an expression controller like this. Lineman shouldn't really have added that part about how ideally it should go to someone performing live, imo - would you agree Mike? 😝 At that point the competition had already started and the initial criteria should have been stuck to. And we'll all benefit from such a prolific creations-section-poster as Svetlovska having something like this.
Six words are often enough to...
I know it was probably a typo… or working in a 2nd or 3rd language context.
but consider this:
Who had that little detail in their vocabulary. It’s like @Svetlovska’s musical work… lot’s of layered meanings: double funeral? Or just sleeping?
Wow!
I prefer the "liers". So much more potential for interpretation
I concur! @Svetlovska to the victor go the spoils - enjoy a new way to be creative and make music ❤️
Thanks all for your kind words, but I really do concur with @LinearLineman’s view it should go to someone who performs live. I can see how it could add something to the visuals of a person who actually presents a visual performance aspect to their work. So, I happily stand aside and let a performer hold the ring.
OK then… the winner of the prize is:
Jeff Chastern’s entry: I didn’t wake up this morning.
A posthumous autobiography is how I read it. Wait… coma?
Discuss.
@JeffChasteen please DM @Linearlineman with your delivery address details. Congratulations.
Congrats! @JeffChasteen 😃
That’s very kind of you.
I feel like the woman who became Miss America after Vanessa Williams’ nudes came out.
Or Jim Belushi.
I still think that Svetlovska should accept the prize.
However, once again, thank you very much.
