BlueBeast by Gospel Musicians (Released)

• Intro Sale 50% Off Regular Price Until August
20th
• YAMAHA EX5 Sample Library
• 30GB Sample Library
• Install and Stream Sounds from External Media
• AUv3

Released in 1998, this was the first synthesizer I actually fell in love with. The EX5 was way beyond its time as it featured Analog Modeling, Virtual Acoustic Modeling, FDSP multi-Synthesis

Modeling and of course sample playback. With a mixture of all of these sound synthesis techniques, the EX5 was literally a Blue Beast®. We were not able to capture all of the virtual modeling, but what we were able to capture was the warmth, phatness, and essence of the machine. We also were able to convert the analog waveforms into our own Phat Table™ format to capture all of the analog goodness of the VL technology. What you get in this virtual instrument is a beautifully sampled nostalgic representation in the spirit of the EX5. This is by far the most exhaustive and meticulously sampled EX5 virtual instrument, and is the closest you will ever get to the real thing.

Highlights:
• 30GB Sample Library Size
• Stream samples from external hardrive
• 384 User & Perf Factory Presets
• Includes all RAW Waveforms
• Sampled Factory Voice Presets
• AN Modeled Wavetables
• Includes all Drum Kits
• All Sampled VL Elements
• Factory Presets -
• Raw Waveforms - We give you access to the
RAW Waveforms so that you can re-create some of your favorite patches. Our synthesis and effects are powerful enough to get very close!
• Analog AN Recreated - Using our exclusive PhatTabe™ technology, we were able to capture the analog warmth of the AN waveforms. We also included the classic PWM as well.
• Sampled VL Sounds - Using our custom analog gear, we meticulously sampled the heck out of each waveform--maintaining the depth, velocities, and warmth of the EX5.
Yamaha Navigation - The interface and design is structured using the same 4-element oscillators as the original hardware, so you will feel right at home when programming.
Advanced Synthesis - We used our own PhatTable™ technology to model the AN waveforms, including PWM. We also include Analog modeling filters and effects.
High Quality Effects - We use the classic
Overloud® VKFX for our effects suite, along with many analog modeled effects. Our effects very high quality and can be assigned to modulation sources as well.
Dynamic Modulation - Right+Click on any knob or widget and assign a dynamic envelope, Modwheel and/or LFO modulator. You can MIDI learn any knob or widget for real-time control as well.

  • Looks like it was a 'rush release', they didn't even have time to correct the app description...

Says it includes the Yamaha SY85 Sample Library, it's the EX5 FFS :sunglasses:

  • This and their last release both look fantastic but that storage space 😬 not sure I can spring for it, and definitely can’t spring for both. Sounds great but seems like an app with that much storage capacity needed won’t sell as well on iOS considering a lot of people have lower storage devices that are already close to being maxed out.

  • EX5, instabuy for me!

You can store and stream the samples on external media. You lower the space and you lower the quality and it would not sound anywhere near as good and users would complain that it doesn’t sound good. I’ve spent years exploring alternative methods of sound synthesis from AI to spectral, to modal and still nothing beats samples.

    Same.

The wait for the download to complete is excruciating! 😂

  • This is very tempting.
Still wish that someone (Yamaha?) would come up with an iPad AUv3 SW60XG, MU100, or even MU2000.

17 GB? There's no way I can make that fit. Oh, well.

  • Can I move / offload the samples packs within pure synth back and forth between iPad and external? That would be very helpful.

Yes, but you have to start with the SSD first.

  • Any plans on these (this and the recent TGX-85) becoming “cross grade-able” inside Pure synth, like Bassalicious 2 etc?

  • I have a Samsung t7 ssd (2TB) for my samples and Kontakt libraries… hooking this up to my iPad and saving and loading the libraries from GM works super fast… same as on Desktop. The recent SsDs are insanely fast. And then… 30GB is not that of an issue :-)

Unfortunately that would require me to buy another interface or hub as I couldn’t use external storage and headphones at the same time. Still probably gonna buy it because I have no will power and it sounds great 😂

  • For everyone here who doesn’t know what Yamaha EX5 sounds like, check this guys demo of EX5, stunning!

It's an awesome synth. Just wish Yamaha would step up their 'iOS Game' with AWM2,ANx, FMX,VL, FDSP engines and drop an app... MODX+ has 1.5GB of ROM samples so a 2GB iMODX+ would be definitely be doable and I'd easily pay $399 for it...

  • I’ve heard good things about Pure Synth. Would I be better off installing Pure Synth and buying the BlueBeast expansion?

As an aside, this thread got me to try plugging a Samsung SSD into the hub I use with the iPad Pro. Previously, I’d only used it with a MacBook but it works flawlessly with the iPad file system. Incredibly useful. Thanks!

I'd say yes as you can then mix and match sounds from all the various expansions.
If you don't have any existing PureSynth expansions and don't plan on getting any get the BlueBeast stand-alone.

  • @ErrkaPetti that guy has chops. I like some of the sounds in this demo:

  • Does anyone use SSD to store and play the gospel musician apps ?

I’m curious how well it works. I’ve always wanted to try it but never have. Does it act the same as if it was all on your device?

if you get the IAP in Pure Synth it works on iPhone and iPad, since PSP works on both, but Blue beast is iPad only. So that’s another difference.

Curious about this as well + what’s a good hub to connect it and an adapter so I can still use my headphones at the same time.

  • @Poppadocrock and @HotStrange I use all the time PSP with a ssd disk and it works great. It’s a bit late here but tomorrow wil post some pics showing my audio interface and the usb-c adapter

Cool, that would be awesome. it’s something I’ve asked about several times, and confident it works, but never made the leap. I guess I’m more curious about how it works with things like preset changes, patch making, etc…

  • Thanks @Samu and @Poppadocrock. I downloaded the free Pure Synth and I’ll mess with that before deciding whether to get the extension or the standalone.

When I had my old 11” pro, I was storing all of the pure synth, FM tines, and Bassalicious 2 libraries on a micro SD card which was plugged into a small USB-C hub. Worked great, but there was a noticeable delay when switching (loading) some samples. Didn’t figure it to be a problem though as I normally wouldn’t be switching sounds live anyway.

  • @HotStrange and @Poppadocrock As I promised, here you have a little video demo on the performance of PSP using a ssd attached to it. Is not shown in the video but all sounds are loaded from the SSD, downloaded previously on it. Also, I added some pics at the end of the video showing more info about it. Hope this can help you both 😊

Yes, but you have to start with the SSD first.

Could you please give some details on this?

1: At the moment I can’t decide if I’m going to install on the iPad or onto an SSD. Would the right path be to install on the SSD for now?

2: My former purchased banks ( FM/BASSalicious etc) is stored on my iPad. How can I transfer those to the SSD? Should I delete all content and re-download to the SSD?

    Thanks

And by the way: Love your playing in the demovids 🤗

  • I Can’t Understand why since I bought the standalone version why I can not unlock it on pure synth ?
    Same go for TGX-85

The developer has said they are separate purchases. You have to choose which you want or buy both.

Yes I heard in the introduction video but still don’t understand it
