The Best out of these 3 Auv3 Effect Audio Editors apps
TwistedWave, Ferrite Recording Studio, Wavebox all are audio editors and what’s more is they support auv3 effects. I’ve only tried WaveBox and I like it but I am wondering if the other two and what’s the difference between them. And what’s also the best one out of the three. Are there any other similar auv3 effect wave editors apps like these three mentioned. Aside from this question, I have another question is also want to know what’s simply the best audio editor in iOS, doesn’t have to support any kind of auv3. I would like something that can let me easily multi slice or trim a whole big wav file of notes for sampling. I do it in Cubasis one note at a time and if you’ve sampled multiple octaves with multiple notes in Cubasis, then you know it’s a drag of having to keep counting up each note after every trim and keep repeating the process. Maybe an Audio editor that adds multiple slices and it’s a bonus If one could detect and position the trim right on note, I think Sitala does something similar like that if I’m not mistaken.
Comments
I can't comment on Ferrite, but Twisted wave is missing one important thing that makes it of little use to me. It doesn't have any bars/beats/measure related tools. If not for that it would be a favorite except for when I need to do slicing. I'm not very familiar with Wavebox, but I do see that while it does auto slicing, it too doesn't have bars/beats/measure awareness. So, neither is a lot of use to me.
IMO Auditor is the most powerful of the editors. I end up using Neon more as it's very close in functionality and you can sample directly into it. Both do slicing by threshold (though both usually need at least some adjustments) and both export the slices + the midi to play the slices back. Neon doesn't export a midi file, but it copies the midi to the clipboard for pasting into other sequencers.
I don't care about AUv3 FX hosting in editors. I just don't care much about baking in FX like that in relation to editing files.
+1 for Neon 👍
Belgium.
FX ?
Neon and Wavebox are my go-to apps for this. Only used the free for version of TwistedWave but I’ve heard it’s great. @Samu swears by it and his opinion holds a lot of water.
Yes, TwistedWave is my go to unless I'm using BM3...
...BM3 has one of the few sample-editors on iOS that can add loop-meta-data to samples, the other one is Auditor.
Old habits die hard, thus I'm 'stuck' with TwistedWave
BM3 is just fantastic.
For all my recording/sample cutting I simply use Wavebox. Fits the job perfectly.
This is great information, thanks.
Be sure to forward the request to the developer of TwistedWave...

(Pick the iOS/iPad Address)
I asked for being able to change the ruler to show bars/beats/division with optional snap as well as an option to temporarily disable snap to x-crossing. That was about two years ago, got a reply that I was one of very few requesting that...
TwistedWave on the Mac also has an option to split the file by markers which could be handy to have on the iPad/iPhone as well.
Lately (about 6 months go) I sent a request for the addition of the Denoise function present in the Mac version of TwistedWave but so far nada.
TwistedWave does get some updates from time to time and it's apparently quite popular among broadcast journalists (I've seen it in action here in Sweden used by SR/Sveriges Radio journalists during interviews) due to the marking function during recording and sharing options directly to FTP servers etc.
The developer usually replies within a day or two so it's worth another shot
No, this person keeps calling me some FxBelgium user. I already told them I’m not them, but keep insisting I’m this person
I had Ferrite, but didn't like the workflow, it's aimed at and more suitable for voiceover/narration. I liked Neon for a while, which is probably best for you @majorwizard047 with its slicing capabilities. But, now I'm back with my old favourite TwistedWave. (I'm on iPhone only, so missed Auditor.)
I believe there's still a gap in the market for a decent audio editor - any devs out there?
This is my first time hearing about Auditor. It looks like a great app.
So I imagine the Mac version has more options & features. They should just add everything from Mac unto iOS. It does cost a lot for Mac. So maybe they want to keep Mac the more supreme. I also downloaded Ferrite free version earlier, and was surprised to see the 30$ Pro iap price tag. In my opinion so far it isn’t worth 30$, tho I just barely used it, so I don’t know everything yet.
I don’t know why anyone thinks you are - it’s pretty clear to me you’re not. For starters, I had to ban him from my YouTube but you are not banned there. Your way of writing and interacting is totally different. Give this guy a break people, lol!
I think he thinks maybe you’re BerlinFx (was that his name?) A Belgium/Berlin user who lost his mind unfortunately. Despite he became very unfriendly let’s hope for him he is more at peace now.
Yepp!
Just about the only feature I miss in it is the option add/embed *.wav loop point-metadata to recorded instrument samples.
Agreed! The answer I got last time when I asked was that the idea was to keep the iOS/iPad version easier to use and do the 'heavy-lifting' on the Mac when needed.
And the kicker...
'Not too many have asked for more advanced features for the iOS version!'.
With more pressure from other users the more likely it is that the stuff will get added...
...the developer definitely knows how to do it!
On the Mac there's a few Higher-End IAPs for things that I never use like speech recognition.

And Video Sync

In all honesty TwistedWave on the iOS/iPad os a pretty old app and I have no clue on new sales so any new features would either be 'for free' which is unlikely due to the time it would take to add them and IAPs for features many take for granted nowadays would be a turn-off for new users...
But it is what it is, I enjoy it as it is even though I wish it could do more
Did he call you FxBelgium or MunichFX ?
Man, that f word and lawyer thing was really something. Anyway, I really hope he found peace. Maybe he bought a nice hat and cigar 🤣
I personally have a theory who BerlinFX truly was. In my theory, he is not living in Belgium but is actually living in the same country where you recently moved, Gavin.
Yes, that’s the one, BerlinFx that this user keeps calling me
That confuses me. Your way of writing as @Gavinski put it is quite different from BerlinFX's. If the other user thinks you're Berlin, let him produce the proof and evidence.
By the way I do like TwistedWave despite its lack of bars/beats. Your mileage may vary.
Maybe it’s because you guys have the same hairstyle.
Everything said about this Berlinfx user happens to fit a description of a certain someone…. To a Tee 😂
Oh really? Haha, I think I know who you're talking about, but no, I also don't think that's him. Does his name begin with E? Would bet you good money it's not him lol
Anyway, even banned people read the forums, so best people don't antagonise those who are a bit too fragile to deal with it without risk of a real mental breakdown
That’s a shame that some devs don’t see ios as worthy workstation. With TwistedWave ios you can edit with your fingers on screen, something that you can’t do on desktops. That’s a more appropriate setting for audio editors, which should give the dev more of a reason to put as much effort. Like you said he probably hasn’t had much support to sway him into doing the full desktop features and any newly added features.
Yep! Exactly around the same time, E. started talking about lawyer in a very similar fashion on his Facebook group. Since then it went pretty wild on the FB group, including the usual hatred towards a certain developer and a few iOS music production oriented YouTubers but it went even further as to assimilate all group members to old European and American pedophiles...
As a French native, I recognized lots of common typical English mistakes made by French speaking people. very strange coincidences, should you ask me 😉
I’ll check out TwistedWave. Looks promising
I've request it more than once over the years. It's no longer worth my time as there are other editors that have more features that I use. TW is still on my iPad but I never use it.
