The new version is released finally. Let me know your experience.

Balls still get stuck inside notes but maybe that wasn't in this update, or maybe you don't see it as an issue?

I kind of like that 'feature' 😂, maybe it should be refined and made into an option that does a kind of ratcheting effect

My point is that the ratcheting effect get lost when balls get stuck inside, it's when they get stuck between note and wall it happens, no?

After the update Bounce Bud needs 100% of the DSP-Power for itself - tested in AUM and Audiobus. Am I the only one with this?

Hasn't happened to me much, I thought I remembered it ratcheting when I did that, I probably remember wrongly!

It would be great if you rate the app or leave a review on the app store 🙏

  • Thanks for the update, unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to address the issue I and others have reported, namely, regular crashes occurring without midi input when used as AUV3 plugin.

It’s fun, I enjoy it, but it is crashing regularly as an AUv3 plugin in ApeMatrix. Using latest iOS

Edit: I see now that crash issues are being addressed, so fingers crossed

Yeah, the update is ready but it’s stuck in the “in review” state, it should have been released by now 😭
I’ve sent an email to Apple, hope they fix it and release the update.

Yes... I also reported these crashes while on beta. Pity they have not been fixed, I thought they had

I’m not sure if everyone tried the v1.1 because it’s pretty stable. I’ve run it multiple hours, constantly changing all the parameters without any crashes. I’m not sure if there’s an issue with the app store though, it was a funny update process, maybe I should reupload.

I've had a really hard to to crash the BounceBud beta (ie. no crashes yet).
Tried to feed it with an insane amount of notes on multiple channels with everything maxed out.
...In some cases the balls can 'lock up' but it very rarely happens :sunglasses:

Are there any particular scenarios that are more shaky than others?

  • BounceBud is quite nice even without feeding it with any additional midi-notes...

  • Sounds like you can turn off scale and just specify your own notes?

On my side: After the update crashing is totally left behind. No crashes anymore.
But I seem to be the only one who gets in DSP power trouble after updating. Just one instance of Bounce Bud - temporary 97-100% DSP! Already reinstalled the app and restarted the device.😟
So I could use Bounce Bud only with extern sound generating- but I like it a lot.

Indeed! u just put it in chromatic and pick whatever notes you want for each side

This app so much fun! And you know, fun is the best thing to have. I'm going to demo how to use BounceBud in AUM and how to connect it to external hardware and whatever else comes to mind whilst I'm pissypanting about. Click the link to set a reminder and come and join me live on YouTube. x

Well, so this is what I got:

Pretty cool, I think. A single instance of Bounce Bud is doing all the heavy lifting here, no other sequencing or live playing involved. 7 ‘balls’ in different combinations for the top, sides, and bottom of the box driving two instances of Decent Sampler, running a toy piano sample and some modular noises, plus some Dexed, Lo-Fi Tape x 2, and Beathawk, just being used as a sample player. Some reverb, and the wonderful YaleD reverse tape delay, and job’s a good’n. Video: found footage of ice crystals growing in a dish, chucked through CapCut, Glitch Art Studio and iMovie.

Ice 9 because Vonnegut, obviously, and because the almost granular crackling noises made me think of ice freezing on a lake.

I think I’m going to be getting a lot of use out of this, @cem_olcay. Thanks! :)

This is what it is all about, absolutely superb. I’m a singer songwriter but I love this stuff too. As I am obsessed with repeatability, are you somehow able to repeat this “sequence” ie recorded to midi or is this a once off.

  • edited September 2023

Ha ha, Mela 4 has a MidiFX called /Bouncing Ball/ and if you connect BBud to it you will get total chaos. I only used 'Bottom' and had to change to just one ball😁
Edit: I did a quick recording of it (also posted in "Daily")

  • edited September 2023

@audiomike : Hi, and thanks. :) Strictly speaking, I suppose it could be repeatable, in that I could capture all the interactions into Atom clips, something I often do do building up a thing, but in the broader sense, every piece I make is always a one and done thing, never to be repeated (and frequently literally unrepeatable, both due to my lack of skill, and often time reliance on random elements such as un synced audio loops.). Unrepeatable, then, except as a recording. Er… I guess this makes me a jazz musician? ;)

Groove Quantize would cherry top this... Mine Today..

  • Just chiming back in to say @cem_olcay great job! This is quickly becoming my favorite app of yours. For experimental music, it’s fantastic. And so many little thing baked in that make it a joy to use.

Bounce plays well with arps which might be what you're looking for there.

Use one of the humanize etc Mozaic scripts?

    Ok.. Thanks..

  • The new update improves the app performance. I’m also working on an aspect ratio option as well (thanks to @Samu for suggestion)

  • The new aspect ratio update is coming soon!

  • The new update is live!
