I see now. Thank you for the info. It looks like I mixed up nostalgia with "secret sauce", haha!

He was the first person I thought of when I saw that it had been rereleased.

There was a follow up to this, getting it working in GR-16 using the step jump feature. It works pretty well and opens up options for more breaks. Love this app though!

Dunno but Id just use a flexi sampler.

Maybe I will make the whole thing in Audulus, and test the app first.

I do have something I built inside of Drambo for juggling breaks, but it doesn’t reproduce this apps functionality because I didn’t know about it. I never shared it to patch storage because I use outside AU MIDI with it, and it’s a bit messy cause I’m not Gravitas or RS2000, and it’s suited for my needs, an iPhone.
This app seems far more fun and intuitive on its own, but I prefer my hack to juggle beats so I can do what makes sense to whatever other elements I’m writing in other tracks, especially the sub bass, for context, you know.

But I’ll definitely still be buying this!

Yeah, simplicity is so inspiring in this app, and limitations force you to make something. I will definitely buy the app and then try to make a solution.

  • Boom boom bap bap bap boom boom bap bap

  • i missed this one! seems very cool. love simple one function apps that just work

  • I think I had it as well - I can’t remember for sure 🤔 Will SugarBytes Egoist not do pretty much all of this?

Probably if you have a good sample of the Amen Break looped.

Same man behind one of my absolute favorite apps from a million years ago, Loop Twister. That’s since been replaced by other great options but at the time, wowza

Drambo expert (Hey it's Ben) @bcrichards was almost onto it :)

I’ve just been trying it - but I’m having my same old problems importing to it. I’ve never understood these two windows. The top one doesn’t have an import option. The bottom one does - but it won’t load and play properly - or then appear in the top window under user. I’ll have to get my head round it. I could always ask here I suppose 😯

  • Ah that’s right - you have to select ‘empty’ from section A before importing. It does work as you might expect….. anyway … what’s next? 😀

Dunno but Id just use a flexi sampler.

You would need to get the quantized playback correct. I'm sure it's doable, but a Flexisampler alone will not be enough.

  • This is a demo of GR-16 doing something I think is similar:

You know it ok to use other app. You don’t have to be exclusive with Drambo. You are still young. Explore your options. Their is other app in the App Store sea.

  • despite the lack of connectivity, i’m happy to spend a few euro on this. buggering around with the amen break is a timeless, sacred rite of all dusty fingered junglists :D

The top window shows presets. The bottom window shows samples. a preset is a combination of samples, and all the modifications you made to them in a song or in a series of patterns.

So you just use the bottom window to find the sample you want, or to import samples, and then put something together and save it as a preset if you care to.

if you own Noises, it’s sort of like the presets versus the banks. other apps work like that too, but that one is right uoff the top of my head.

I’m not sure if that’s clear. I don’t have problems importing samples, unless it’s just the problem with sizing the GUI, which has never been optimized for iPad, and must be carefully manually resized each time to see everything you need to access.

    • note, if you’re looking for the name of a sample in the top window, you may not find it. Because that just shows presets, and a preset can include a sample without having its name. Hope that is somewhat clear.

That amen break has been thrashing around like nothing else. What a great app.
The bass synth sounds pretty good too.

  • Is there sample import for other drum loops or can you only work with the few stock loops?

  • Holy cow, what a fun app!

  • How can it be used if recorded to a slicer in a DAW?

If just needing an amen break triggered with DAW drum tracks?

It can’t be used in a DAW as it’s not IAA or AUV3. You can record the loops which are stored in the files app and can then be loaded onto a DAW and looped from there.

  • so, this app opens on dekstop mac M1, but where the file is saved????

anyone have any idea where it could be ? is there a way to access "files" on desktop

New update brings custom loop importing, tap tempo, and adjustment to reverse loop button. Pretty great update honestly.

Edit: I’m getting a crash every time I try to import a custom loop.

Edit edit: in contact with the dev and they’re looking into it.

Ooo tell them they'll get a whole extra sale if they make it AU ;)

  • It’s cheap enough so I bought it. Hopefully it will get wav import and AU/IAA at some point. I don’t know if I’d ever use it.

The same thing can be done in Drambo. As mentioned GR-16 does a great job at this. And the ultimate app for this is Loopmix. You can make Loopmix as simple or complicated as you want.

As mentioned above, the latest update added custom wav import for 8 custom loops.

  • Also, for in contact with the dev and apparently the wavs have to be in the correct format. Mine was 48 kHz and not the apps native 44.1 kHz. Haven’t had a chance to convert a sample and try it yet but keep that in mind for anyone attempting.
