  • Great work @Brokened! Thank you for giving this to our community. Simple yet powerful and useful. The best combo. Keep up the good work and keep it simple!

  • Great demo! I didn’t know you were an ApeMatrix guy. I’ve never used it but it seems great

  • If anyone had problems with blank screen, and plugin doesn’t show up in daw - just released update to App Store. Hope it will fix the problems.

  • Hi, I’d love to try this wonderful app that everyone’s raving about but I can’t figure out how to use it in GarageBand! It doesn’t appear in my list of audio unit extensions?

AUv3 midi effects are not supported in garageband(). You should try another daw.

Well that’s rubbish! Thanks for pointing out my total lack of knowledge 🤣 anyone recommend a cheap (free) DAW?

Don’t know. I personally a Drambo user, but it is more like groovebox.

  • Thanks for making this @unbrokendub I love the app icon, and it’s definitely a cool and useful midi fx app. Congrats on the release. I noticed you fixed a few things in recent betas, but I haven’t rechecked to see if the first thing below was fixed or ever mentioned.

    1. I noticed the spread knob was really wide between notes, even when at a low setting, some were off the Atom 2 piano grid with less then a 25% spread.

    2. I thought one cool idea would be to add a random velocity feature. Maybe the user could set a range of velocities (ie. Min/max) on one knob, and the notes of each chord would have a random velocity somewhere in that range.

    Glad you like it.

Here is the spread table that I take from schwarzonator(and yes, even on low setting you will get two octaves range between the notes):

Random velocity sounds cool. Will think how to realize that with one knob if possible, to keep it minimal :)

Well that’s rubbish! Thanks for pointing out my total lack of knowledge 🤣 anyone recommend a cheap (free) DAW?

Audio Evolution seems to be the best bang for your buck. I haven’t tried it but it have great reviews and the cheapest one I believe. I prefer Cubasis 3 though. And it is (was?) on sale.

I'll add to that. I got Audio Evolution Mobile studio a couple years ago and kind of struggled with it because the interface was not like the other iOS DAW's I was used to, but I watched a couple videos and figured it out, and then I really got it. It's also received a lot of fixes and enhancements since that time, and is still actively developed. It can do some things that other DAWs could not on my device, like handle multiple 45 min audio clips, and allow me to edit, slice and trim them with no issues, whereas other DAW's would just choke. The value/price ratio is very high, again in my view.

  • Possible dumb question.

How do I get this working with Beatmaker 3 and say, Poison synth ?

I’m a cubasis 3 user but AE has a couple features I really wish C3 did. Tempo track and drag to loop. Not sure if it has mix busses but I wish C3 had extensive mix busses like logic.

  • Thanks for this interesting app!
Is there a way to record the midi to another track using Logic Pro?
When I hold the chordbank icon and select "record midi to track here", the chords don't play anymore, just the single midi notes...

  • @unbrokendub - thank you!

@jking - AE all the way! Excellent DAW, some features yet to come, lots of regular development

    My pleasure.

Don’t know about midi recordings. But did it works like that with another midi extensions?
From my experience in Ableton, you should create second midi track and set input from track with ChordBank.

  • ChordBank updated to version 1.1
Added a lot more chord banks + ported all banks from Schwarzonator(you will find them in the end of the list, and they worked exactly like they work in schwarzonator).

Added Random knob and Velocity knob.

Also now you can run ChordBank on macOS with Apple Silicon.

*About velocity knob: if input velocity 127 and knob set to 127 - output will be also 127. But if, in example, knob is set to 50 - each note in the chord will have random velocity from 50 to 127.

    Have fun :)

  • Is there some sort of user manual available?
I’d like to understand the relation between the notes on the keyboard and the chords that being triggered.

You mean the chords being allocated to notes randomly?

Not exactly randomly. It is a table inside. So in table they allocated chromatically, but not correlated to note. In example note C just trigger chord from slot 1. But chord in slot 1 may be a D or G# chord. Something like that

  • Just saw the update, left a review. Awesome app. Thanks @unbrokendub

  • Great fun to play with this!

  • I notice that there's already a ChordBank in the App Store with nearly 6K ratings:

    https://apps.apple.com/app/chordbank-guitar-chords-tuner/id397602509

If you suspect that this name similarity may eventually become a drag on your app's adoption, I suggest changing your app's name. The sooner the better.
