  • It sounds really nice...but i just went ahead and got OPL...because it only cost me $5 to complete the DiscoDSP bundle so I got that , the reverb, and the oscilloscope for $5 total. Now THAT is a hell of a sale!!!

  • OPL is really cool, it reminds me of my old Portasound with the 2 ops. Minibit is a really fun one too, that sequencer can get some really wild sounds going

Yeah I'm thinking I'm going to get that next tbh...we had a couple of Bandcamp sales so I'm reinvesting it towards the next release. Streaming royalties go to bills, Bandcamp sales go towards apps lol

Just got Phase Monkey, SNESynth and Dagger....which ones do you all recommend next between:
MiniBits, LowTone, or OPL? I'm getting BA-1 next month

I would saw LowTone next just because it offers the most versatility for what you already have. Then OP-L, then MiniBits. All 3 are genuinely excellent apps though.

BA-1 is one of the best sounding synths on iOS though by far (imo).

Yep I love OP-L for that. I would lose my mind if Yamaha released an AU clone of one of their flagship Portasounds lol

Yeah, since I picked up OLP for $5 I had enough left over to get either LowTone or MiniBit...so I just got LowTone lol. I'm good until CyberMonday lol I'm finishing up demos right now and everything I picked up today all fits together.

Nice! How are you liking it so far?

There’s a Small handful of apps I’m hoping to get on Black Friday. NoLimits2, QVox, VB3, HipHop Drummer, and a couple of IAPS for other apps. I’m low on space so I can’t go overboard but I’m excited any way lol

    It’s freaking amazing

Stopping by to put in a word for Lowtone. Just a beautiful lush versatile monosynth. For me it has replaced Zeeon as the monosynth I reach for by default. Mononoke is a great choice for a synth that does things no other synth does.

You weren’t kidding about LowTone… I got it last month and it’s my preferred bass synth now

  • Thanks for sharing @Fear2Stop and @HotStrange - 10 months strong here. Music has been the perfect replacement for 30 years of heavy drinking and drugging. Buying new synths and effects regularly is easy to justify given when I’m not spending daily on my previous recreation. Thought I’d become a morning person sober, but now I’m up til 2am every night working on songs!

  • You should buy Outer Space by AudioThing.

  • Congrats!

FWIW, I recommend getting an iPad at some stage. Better interface for some apps, better workflow likewise.

Also, thanks for whoever it was upthread that mentioned Salome. Must resist.. nah, failed. :p

Oh I definitely will… I have semi fat fingers and I need to anyway lol

Nice! I have to admit that Moog has kind of turned my head with Mariana, but my overall take on that is that it sits in different sweet spots than Lowtone and they complement each other nicely.

Congrats on being sober, I can say from experience it is not easy. And yes the occasional app is a far better way to spend your money 😂

I’ve always been a night owl myself.

Since it’s apparently never coming to iPhone per Moog themselves, I’m using Hilda in ways I planned to use Mariana lol

Just hit my 7 month sobriety mark 3 days ago! It’s funny but I used to “have” to be high in order to create, yet I’ve proven that to be a myth to myself, having already written /recorded/mixed 23 songs so far this month*, in addition to making the synth patches and now setting the parameters myself for all the fx apps I’m using rather than just tweaking the presets. I’d been using Apple gift cards I’d been giving to get apps but now I’m using the money I used to spend monthly on drugs (and not a penny more) for my music budget and anybody who’s paid attention to my group’s music over the years definitely heard a sonic shift since I’ve gotten clean. I used to half ass the mixes, and sometimes leave mistakes in because I thought it was funny . There’s definitely a few things I want to take down because I find them embarrassing now , but I was outvoted because it’s part of our history. Which I can respect but I almost feel like putting a disclaimer on some things

*im going to release them on Bandcamp either this Friday or next Friday in order of recording , and choose which ever songs people like the most to be our next “official “ album released to streaming 😎
