But i have the OG CIRCUIT.

That's fine, all these apps run with both the OG circuit and tracks.

I’m curious if this is a simple process to set up and use to control the circuit synth and sequencer parameters.

The only thing you need is touchOSC. It's an app to create midi and osc control surfaces. It is available for ios, android, windows, mac and linux (The desktop versions are free, so you can try that first)

From touchOSC, you load the deepsounds app of your choice and run it. You can then control every aspect of the circuit that is available via midi:

    • NC Editor: A patch editor to create your own sounds. It also includes a patch generator and more.
    • NC Companion: Everything for realtime performance, like e.g. a mixer to edit levels, panning, effects, mute channels etc. all on one page (no need t o switch between views on the circuit anymore :-) here is a description of all the features
    • Vanilla: Another patch editor but very easy to use, optimized to get analog-like sounds. It's included in NC Companion.

The circuits do not provide access to the sequencer via midi.

Also does it require being plugged in via usb or is their Bluetooth? My iPad USB c port is needed for my tx6 mixer and everything… so I’m not really sure if giving that up is beneficial

The cirucits don't have bluetooth, you will need a USB connection. You can use an USBc hub to increase the number of USB inputs. Simple ones are cheap (10-20.-) and they all work without problems.

Right now the circuit is collecting dust because after a while if non use i forgot how to use it 😂

Is this a one time purchase app, to get everything on my circuit going or are their more iaps?

No iaps. You'll need touchOSC (which is around 12.- I think) and the NC app you like (~6.- each depends on VAT). There are also bundles with a discount.

Thanks for any help or info

  • So you actually have to have run it off a desktop as well???!!!

    Or iOS is standalone?

You can run it on either platform. Wherever you have touchOSC running, you can use the apps.

So yes, it is standalone in the sense that you don't need any other device running anything beyond your ipad and the circuit.

    Thank ya!

You are welcome :) in case you are wondering why the apps are based on touchOSC and not native apps: Apple requires the vendor's permission to allow 3rd party apps in the app store. Unfortunately, Novation does not grant that permission.

That's the reason why there are no apps for Novation devices in the store except those that are published by Novation itself.
To get around this, developers use general frameworks that are already available in the store and develop based on them.

Man thank you for breaking this down!

This makes sense now, my brain was not figuring it out but now I'm with it!

I’m going to grab em, because this will absolutely get the dust off the circuit, which I’ve always dug the sounds of, but didn’t fully enjoy trying to create on.
And then once it sits for a while it’s way too easy to forget every thing.

I’ll grab both the NCs because they look very good and useful and def down to support the work!

    Much appreciated it man!

@BoxOfSnoo sorry, I don't understand the last 2 sentences... could you please explain a little bit more what you wanted to do and what confused you?

Just that they are two different apps. If you were to get the sounds pack with the vanilla editor - there's one interface you don't get (the NC companion).

Ah ok, thanks. Yeah, maybe that's a little confusing. So to clarify that for everyone:

You can get Vanilla with either NC Companion or with the deepsounds soundpack.

If you want both, the soundpack and NC Companion, the best option is the All-In-One bundle (which also includes NC Editor for a very nice price  )

In any case, if you have questions, something doesn't work or you bought the wrong item, just contact me here, via the shop or on facebook.

Hello and happy new year! I got some requests asking for a mobile version of the editor, so I used the holidays to create it.

The new layout now includes 11 tabs with larger controls that are easy to use on the limited space of mobile devices.

The mobile version still supports Tracks and OG Circuit and also includes most of the features of the tablet/desktop version, even the patch generator (albeit a little fiddly to use)

    Here are a few screenshots:

sorry, accidentally posted this twice and can't delete it :#
So, to add something useful: The format is about 19.5:9, as supported by most new phones.

  • A big Thank You to @schulzki for constant commitment!

  • This works very well on iphone 11. Thanks!

I can’t get a connection with the og circuit via a Widi master dongle to the iPad. I have both the widi app as well as midimittr running and the dongle is connected to the iPad. Touchosc lets me select the dongle under connection 1, but when I try to run the editor, it shows it’s waiting for a connection. I also tried to connect through usb which worked, but the Bluetooth way would be kind of neat…

That doesn‘t work, I‘m sorry. For whatever reason Novation decided to not send Midi sysex messages out on the Midi port, only via USB. No Editor will work if connected to the midi port, not even Components, as they all rely on midi sysex messages.
