Open for Nominations 2023 ABF Hall of Fame *Video Category Added*
EDIT: I have added a Video Creators category because the votes were going in two directions.
Please edit your list to add this distinction.
Announcing the annual AudioBus Forum Hall of Fame.
We will collect 5 nominees in 4 categories:
1. Developer
2. Video Creator
3. Music Creator
4. Forum Participant
Let the nominations begin. The polls will close on November 14.
Voting will then start and go for 1 week.
The winners will be obvious using the forum’s Poll feature.
Winner will achieve F-A-M-E (It’s the Hall of…) and be permitted to post a speech if so moved.
Go.
Note: I re-thought my vote and changed it after some reflection. Feel free to re-edit your choices.
Comments
@brambos
@Gavinski (who's also a creator, but his giveaways and walkthroughs prove invaluable, and he's a nice bloke).
2b. @thesoundtestroom (Who also does excellent demos and is also a genuinely nice person, he and Jo both!)
@LinearLineman (who still deserves the round of applause)
@Michael The ultimate forum participant who created Loopy Pro (the Loopy series) and Audiobus this wonderful forum.
EDITED TWICE AFTER SOBER REFLECTION:
Thx @jwmmakerofmusic, you do me honor but in the posthumous category these days.
Actually, you misspelled postnasal. Out of character for you.
Since this is the Hall of Fame… you can be nominated after you are dead. I’m not suggesting it but
you can stop creating just rest on your laurels. That’s actually pretty painful, by the way. I don’t recommend it.
LAURELS:
😂🤣
Anyways, you deserve the nomination @LinearLineman for sheer volume and top quality of your many works. ❤️
I agree… @Linearlineman creations were always very loud and used the most expensive apps. If you didn’t like one you only needed to wait 24 hours and there would be a new one.
Pretty much! 🙂
Good choices. @Lady_App_titude also generates creative graphics contributions.
This is difficult, there are so many great choices!
developer- @audiothing for all the interesting apps
creator- @jwmmakerofmusic for all the fantastic tracks
participant- tie between @bygjohn and @BroCoast for helping me get started with my Moog M32 and DFAM
edit to add video creator- tie between @Gavinski and @thesoundtestroom
Dev: @j_liljedahl for quietly plugging away with AUM, keeping it affordable and not having charged for updates
Creator: @Svetlovska whose pieces have developed so much, and who probably writes the most elegant and engaging prose on the forum
Participant: @HotStrange for being super lovely but also not afraid to call out bad behaviour when necessary
Who won the previous years awards, I’ve forgotten?
Shit. I’m loosing my memory. Has this been done before? The previous winner can’t be chosen twice. Otherwise it would be the same winners for years.

Not the same idea.
I stopped after five names in each category, lost thirty minutes, and gave up. I can’t comprehend a single category. Is “developer” for participation on forum or quality of released app? Also, what is the “creator” category? Is it for music content only, or is it also educational, informative, and useful (patches, sounds, scripts)?
The forum participant category blows my mind. Should I choose the most dramatic ones, the most crazy ones, the most polite ones, the most helpful ones, or the most frequent participants?
I hope that you get the point. It's me and my brain, haha! Sorry @McD, I will wait a few days and adapt to the forum's senses. 🫣
I'm not picking sides! You are all great!
Yeh - I had the same thoughts, it’s maybe in need of some clearer definitions, perhaps more categories. Or perhaps better scrapped altogether!
Thanks mate. 😳😅
My choises, although it’s really really hard to decide:
Modartt for the release of Pianoteq v8 to both iPad AND iPhone.
@Svetlovska - runnerup @jwmmakerofmusic
@rs2000 - runnerup @Gavinski
Dev: @j_liljedahl for AUM, a (nearly) perfect piece of software, @brambos as runner up
Creator: @Svetlovska, always interesting
Forum Participant: @Poppadocrock , for running the iOS App Sales & Discussions threads
Edited for the creator split
Wow, I’m honoured and flummoxed at the same time! Thank you!🙏 And you’re very welcome.
As for my nominations, my brain is going into overdrive, so I kind of agree with @sevenape .
If pushed to make decisions, though:
Developer: @j_liljedahl is the winner, simply for making the app that has made me so productive and happy, and on which all the other apps rely (for me). AUM is a triumph. Tied in second place are @brambos and @audiothing for making some of the most inspiring apps over the last year or so. Honourable mention to @mifki for MiRack.
Music creator: @Svetlovska for consistently making amazing music, plus all the back stories etc. Honourable mentions to both @sevenape and @jwmmakerofmusic , and sincere apologies to everyone else. There are a lot of hugely talented people on here!
Video creator: @rottencat , with an honourable mention for @sevenape who manages to find some incredible found footage.
Participant: @Gavinski because of his level of engagement with the whole iOS music scene.
The lifetime thing doesn’t substantially change my choices, though I’ll add a huge thank you to @Michael for setting the ball rolling on connectivity.
So, voting will start after the polls close?
This is the first election you have organised, isn't it?
This is an almost impossible task, but I’ll give it a go.
I now feel like I have people to apologize to for not choosing them…
Not sure I can pick but wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you for making this the best forum on the planet. I really appreciate you.
I agree wholeheartedly.
Thanks for the nominations for me, lol.
I almost wish this thread didn't end up in an actual vote. I like the idea of just a long thread of posted thank yous to the people who share good apps, music, content, knowledge, and vibes here at the AB forum. I had at least three or four people in mind for each category.
Lol I feel queasy 🤮 get a room you lot!
Oh ok then: Samu's the man for patiently answering my stupid questions!
