  • As I said in my first post: we have short memory when it comes to developers. IF this thread had started today, many would have gone for AudioKit (King of Digital released) who is now not mentioned, even once. Maybe change to a monthly, just vote on developer, kind of thing. I don't know .. I was just thinking out loud.

    I cannot vote like expected

    1. Developer: @Michael @giku_beepstreet @j_liljedahl @Nikolozi @SevenSystems @Kirnu @VirSyn (sorry for all I didn't mention)
    2. Video Creator @Blue_Mangoo
    3. Music Creator -
    4. Forum Participant @wim

Those Blue Mangoo videos were truly epic… lots of insider engineering details.

I just purchased the Upgrade to Loopy Pro to show @micheal some tangible respect for this site and his programming efforts.

You might want to correct spelling of Michael’s handle if you want him to see your post and be encouraged by it.

    I'm not sure if the lower-case nick works ... auto-expand uses capital M ...
    Just saying.

The issue was you reversed the a and the e in the spelling originally. Handles aren't case sensitive.

i’m reading the room and a vote will not be necessary… Choosing between @Michael, @brambos, @giku_beepstreet or @virsyn as a developer just produces a begrudging popularity contest that several members have opted out of.

So, I will craft a 2023 Hall of Fame listing of the 4 categories that represent the people nominated.

In the arts we know there are no losers… but it’s good to show respect for those that have created such wonderful creations in music and videos, developed such impressive apps for these complex devices and given selflessly of their time helping fellow members out.

Being nominated is a worthy recognition by the ABF regulars.

If you see a gap in the names proposed so far be sure to add anyone you think should get recognition.

This is true. I forgot to mention AudioKit despite them being a favorite. And there are probably half a dozen more I missed. Then even more when I think about it, and so on…

I agree with @McD overall though that it’s nice to just show appreciation. Even if we don’t vote.

AudioKit is in the news right now with the excellent “King of Digital” app. We should NOT forget that the AudioKit core code base is Open Source and many developers take advantage of their code to build out their apps. There’s an AudioKit package that allows anyone to build a Swift App in Apple’s free SwiftPlaygrounds so anyone can start to dip their toe in the developer’s world at no extra cost on an IOS device… no requirement for a Mac or even Xcode to make something.

Yep AudioKit and Matthew have done a lot for the iOS music community. Gotta respect it. All the recent apps have been fantastic, too. You can see/hear the passion that went into them.

Did you get a notification? For this, I removed all nicks from the quotes...

    Yes.

It would be so cool if they added a modeling guru to their team and made it easier for developers to build modeled instruments and lower the cost curve for the financially strapped and put pricing pressure on Modartt, SWAM.

I think the @chowdsp developer could provide some excellent code for this purpose since he models circuits so well. But there’s also a good chance he graduated with a degree and has a day job using his considerable skills at coding.

Yep the Chow stuff is top tier AND free. Amazing. BYOD and ChowTape are still 2 of my favorite apps.

And yes would love to see more modeled instruments on iOS. GSI is making some great stuff for relatively cheaper but that would no doubt drive prices down some. And just give us more physical modeling apps, which is always a good thing lol

  • I picked up GSi’s “Real Trumpet” which includes a trombone and tuba preset and paid to tweak the model on the “Free Vibes” model. I expect there will be more. The developer Guido seems to know how modeling is done and sells IOS apps at a discount.

I’m always tempted by that Solo Trumpet app I just haven’t been able to bring myself to buy it yet because I’m generally fine with the brass sounds in AudioLayer and Heavy Brass. It does seem great though.

I’d love to see them release a sax app and maybe a church organ.
