Picking one is hard until you realize this could be a yearly process and after 5 years we’ll start running out of truly worthy nominees and go with Dolly Parton.
HINT: Hall of Fame recognition is usually for a lifetime of work.
Feel free to edit your choice if that changes your thinking it did for me. Who made the most contributions over the lifetime of this forum, for example? iOS developer? I purchased Audiobus for an iPad 1. There was no AUv3 or IAA to connect apps until then.
Whose videos helped you decide to buy or not to buy?
Splitting creator into video and music is a good idea. I will edit that in and ask you to edit your lists.
Who has provider the best advice of the forum since you joined?
I went with more categories. Video and Music Creators are split now. Re-edit your lists.
Think lifetime achievement. This type of award is typically given after a player’s career
and not for the hot rookie. But a popular vote will tend to skew towards the current favorites.
Please feel free to propose names for each category. Just be nominated is recognition. There are so many great participants here and I think we’re getting a good perspective but I can see a few obvious holes in the coverage map.
I nominate @Michael for dev
Our modest @Paulieworld for consistently fun output (with a shout-out to @GeoTony for his great shredding)
And @Samu/@wim for the helpiest.
And @Gavinski for best videos
Thanks a ton @Gavinski and @gusgranite ❤️
This ended up being much harder than I anticipated.
Developer: @elf_audio for making my all time favorite app and @brambos for somehow never releasing anything that’s less than great.
Editing to include @giku_beepstreet. Drambo, AUM, and Koala are my 3 most used apps so I gotta have them here.
Video: gotta be @Gavinski and @thesoundtestroom. Very very hard not to also include @jakoB_haQ so I just gotta put all 3.
Music creator: @Svetlovska. Those noisy drones always hit the sweet spot.
Forum: @wim for consistently being helpful. Even down to taking the time to custom make me a Moziac script for something I needed. And @Poppadocrock. Think that one is self explanatory. This is the hardest one because there are so many cool people here and it’s hard not to feel like you’ve slighted someone.
Thanks Mike!
I'd like to second the nomination for our host @Michael who has provided a great place for like-minded folks to get together and share new original music and ideas. There's no other place like it, and I'm glad to be a part of it.
Just want to make sure that Leo @sfm is mentioned in this thread. Easily my go to video tutorials for the more in depth aspects of apps which I lack the knowledge to fully understand without his help!
I'm not doing this. Reminds me too much about the European Song Contest (I get chills just mentioning it). But I can't help myself and have to do some input:
in every thread where an issue with sound creation is up, some bright head always write: "you can do it with dRambo" so often in fact many just roll their eyes in despair.🙄 Yet, I see no mention of Beepstreet , maybe if Dagger has just been released as the long term memory seem ... absent😂
For video creation their can be only one and that's of course Jakob Haq, he does broadcast quality videos like not many others do, not regarding iOS app demos/tutorials anyway (he is also funny as f).👀
No one, imo, put more effort in to help other users then E Spiegel (Wim does that too).📚
Creating with versatility and a mix from all walks is Paulieworld, pro releases all the time.
Shit, I guess I made a list anyhow, shame on me.😳
Good call… his ABF handle is @giku_beepstreet
No doubt his apps are stunners going back to Impaktor.
Another good call for quality tho’ he’s not a regular here. But Lifetime video content he needs a call out.
No one seems to carry as much knowledge and patience as @espiegel123
@Paulieworld is a wizard.
Wow I can’t believe I didn’t mention Beepstreet in mine. With how much I rely on and use Drambo it’s right up there with AUM and Koala.
You can edit your list for up to 1 month I think.
I had just finished doing that haha. I use Drambo almost every time I open my iPad so I dunno how it slipped my mind.
This thread is strange.
Reminds me of the closing scene each week in The Waltons.
"Goodnight wim".
"Goodnight Samu".
"Goodnight Gav".
"Goodnight Sue Ellen"...
Thanks for the input.
@Pxlhg @McD Thank you, both. Made my day l needed it.
If there is ever a category for Early 20th Century Modern Orchestral, I nominate @Mcd.
I always liked the end of The Waltons. We need more of that.
Well, be fair John-boy, you've got to admit it is a bit weird - a "Hall Of Fame" for an obscure online music forum.
On the other hand, I nominate Michael for Sainthood (for putting up with us idiots)
Yes. @micheal built this community. He’s ripe for Lifetime Achievement recognition. He recently made it pretty clear that
his children have become a ciritical focus of his life with a special needs kid. Supporting him with Loopy Pro updates is
a good gesture to acknowledge his contributions.
There a lot of respect for many that frequent this obscure online music forum and contribute their advice, support for their apps and their inspiring creative works (video and musical).
I agree wholeheartedly! Never been to a better music forum than here with so many helpful people, fantastic devs that pop in, talented creatives of all ages, and a general feel-good vibe.
And @Michael can always reach out to me. Being the parent of a special needs child is tough as nails. My parents had to put up with me (Autism, ADHD). My best irl friend's son has an adult son with severe Autism. I know one of our members has a son with special needs, and another member is a fellow Autistic man. It's great how well represented neurodiversity is here in our tight-knit community.
I just purchased the Upgrade to Loopy Pro to show @michael some tangible respect for this site and his programming efforts.
I saw where he posted that (about his children) so I’m happy to help as well. I already have Loopy Pro though. Is there a tip jar in the app? I’d gladly leave a tip.
You might want to correct spelling of Michael’s handle if you want him to see your post and be encouraged by it.
Thanks
I think we can pull in the Nomination deadline by a week and start voting on the 14th.
Thank you
I’m not going to vote for music creator as I just only recently got my phone back as of a week ago and can listen to songs and don’t have to use a public computer.
Good choices.
Last chance to nominate anyone before we vote.
I feel conflicted. I’m touched that some people have seen fit to mention me, and I am grateful to many on this forum for alerting me to artists I had never heard of, helping me with technical issues, even collaborating on some of my noises, or writing bits of code to help me out, but I very much do not want to be setting anyone here in a hierarchy. There are many great people here, in many different ways, from making excellent videos and excellent music to just being kind in their posts. So, sincerely, thank you all, and for Michael for creating this very special place, but I’ll pass on any actual voting, if that’s ok.
No one is compelled to vote. The intent is to show respect for years of contribution to the forum. Hosting the forum for over ten years for example is something worth recognizing and showing appreciation. Personally I think that’s a category of contribution that stands alone.
I do think it’s wise not to vote in a category you might be nominated for at a minimum but voting is simply a way to say thanks for consisten contributions to the greater good as a creator, video creator, member who shares knowledge often and consistently over many years and as a developer of quality apps.
The most powerful feedback a person can get is just a simple thank you. And remember after another 10 years all these nominees will have their moment and new hero's will surface that deserve some recognition and thanks.
We all know people that take and do not say thanks and I think we learn overtime to not expect them to. But the bonds of community are built on a network of gratitude and selfless contributions: they go hand in hand to make life worth living for many.
