  • So what’s the difference between this and the original Riffler ? If you send the original ones midi to a clean guitar app do you get the same results?

    Great question!

  • i think the algorithm is different so it's coming up with stuff that's outside the metal/rock guitar riff world... There's a quick video example of how it sounds in the app store description...

  • I loved the idea of Riffler and bought it immediately, but the genres weren’t very relevant to me. Clean guitar styles, from this one, I think would be a lot more useful to my personal styles.

In my own error, I thought that the original would have included these genres and styles. I wish I could switch, return the original, and only use this one.

  • Be nice if the dev could create some sort of a chordal riffler...

The original does have clean sounds but
I assume this one has more styles to choose from. Also though, in the original you can still convert many of the heavy riffs generated into a clean guitar sound and they can often sound very good once you do that.

  • To MacOS or not MacOS that’s my question, I purchased the original because of MacOS support now it’s not, this is MacOS but will it remain so.

  • this looks very interesting, i dig the sounds in the short vid at the app store

i was curious about the original app but the output didn't really match anything I'd use in a track

    Ok.. I don’t want to come off as a Lumbeat fanboy… but…
Riffler developer and others need to work with Mr. Lumbeat. ‘Send Groove’ will be the industry standard soon. One can only imagine 'Send Groove' up in here.. and Chord (Midi) Input..

  • Were you declined a refund on the original? I've resisted return attempts so far because I'm sure what would bug me much more than paying for an app I didn't need would be going through some tedious return process, and being declined for no clear reason by an AI bot or something.

  • The return process is pretty smooth. But I am still curious about how different this is from the original one.

Less metal, more pop and folk.

Bought it a few hours ago, very happy with the purchase. within certain genres and presets you can customise the riffs it plays. Great for getting sample fodder in the right key and character to chop, mangle, twist up with other programs. Like Piano Motif but with guitar

You can change the sound of the instrument (guitars, bells, synths) and also export the midi. I think the midi output will be essential as the onboard voices are decent but might get boring after awhile.

I've heard it can be smooth -- until it's not. These are my returns concurns:

Does it take more than five minutes to request to get a refund?
Is there a non-trivial (over 5 percent) chance I'll get denied?
If I'm declined, is a reason for that given?

I've spent a lot of time with Apple service reps on phones -- including a cumulative 17 years just on hold as my calls were being escalated to yet another Genius Bar alumnus.

I have learned that those fuckers will say anything anything they can come up with to deny relief for a legit claim. It's good to have an authoritative guide to the rules of the game before it's played. Not surprisingly, I don't think Apple publishes guidelines for iOS app returns, but I would happy out were I corrected.

Sorry for my pedantic comment. I have been fortunate so far with the Apple refund process, but I appreciate you letting us know of your experience and once again I apologize for appearing to be dismissive.

  • I’m really enjoying this new one as well. The algorithm definitely seems different and it seems to be randomizing the drum beats now too which is nice. The genres and styles included pretty much run the gamut for clean styles. Kinda leans a bit 90s alternative and mid-west Emo but I still like it a lot. Happy with the purchase so far.

Something like American Football would be a good starting point. Just a very clean sound but specific playing style.

Would you say more or less emotion than Taking back Sunday?

  • Does this create short loops only, or does “flow” mean you can have an endless riff?

  • Holy crap a new riffler!

    Hats the impression I got.

Original has variety but leans to heavier rock. The new one looks better for indie, r&b, EDM, etc… closer to the stuff I like to make. Really considering this one.

It actually depends a lot on what country you are in. If in the states and have a decent reason you should be good. Other countries are more strict.

Oh less for sure lol but that’s only because it’s an algorithm in an app. For what it is, I’m getting some fairly emotive riffs and it’s really good for that. Lots of variety and it pulls off the styles well.

  • Oh man. This sounds great, I know I’m gonna cave. These are basically the styles I create in the most. Wish it had a bundle or intro price though.

Judging by what I’ve read from you on here over the years I think you’d really enjoy it. I was getting some good trap style guitar passages all the way to some indie ballads and all manner in between. I like the OG because of the doom, sludge, and industrial styles but I’m not a “hard rock” or generic metal fan (more like the extremes like black metal lol), so this was perfect.

  • @jon_bell

I was curious if there were any plans for a bundle with both rifflers ? Maybe both for $20-$25 or something. Thanks, cheers.

Good observation skills. Yea that’s why I’m so tempted. It just got moved up to the top of the list.

Lemme know how you like it if you end up getting it. I can definitely see myself using this one more than the OG. It’s gonna be great in Koala, I can already tell 😂
