To be honest I still don't understand why they can't put a head jack in. I'm used to a head phone dongle now but really, It continues to be a really stupid move.
Ha ha! I read the thread title and pictured you waking up to find that the headphone jack on your iPad existing iPad had been stolen in the night. Sounds like one of those nightmares you get when staying up way too late making music. 😂
I just recently bought a new iPad Pro M2 to replace my 2017 pro with headphone port.
It really isn’t as bad as I tought it would be. You buy a USB-C to audio dongle for every pair of headphones you own and problem solved. Maybe buy one that can charge at the same time.

My hope is that the next Pro iPad will have an extra usb port and a headphone jack. But I’m not gonna hold my breath lol
I actually prefer Face ID though. The Touch ID doesn’t work on some iPad cases (including mine because the bevel is too high) so it would be a welcome addition for me.
Apple doesn't get your face or your fingerprints FWIW, those are encrypted and stay on device.

It can get frustrating but I do tend to end up using my audio interface most the time anyway for the better sound quality so I’ve noticed less and less lately. Even with that, it’s still really annoying at times when I just want to be lazy af and make some music in bed or on the couch and my battery is almost dead but my inspiration isn’t
As someone already mentioned, and I believe Apple has confirmed multiple times, they never get your face scan. It’s encrypted per device. And you’d be surprised at how easy Face ID picks things up and the angles it works in. Also it works in almost pitch blackness.
And just as a heads up, you can use your iPad without any of that and just swipe to open it. If it never leaves you or your house, there’s no reason not to do that. Or you can use a pin and chose how often you have to use it. I have a 6 digit pin and my iPad locks after an hour of being closed. So with. That hour all I have to do is swipe up and it’s done. After an hour I enter a quick passcode and it’s ready to go. Lots of options to avoid Face ID.
